Really good advice if you are going anywhere in the UK for a staycation, book ahead for every meal or plan some nice picnics. All venues have limited space due to distancing and with the extra traffic if you haven't booked you wont eat. We just got back from the Isle of Wight and luckily we got this advice before we went. Another great Vlog guys....love the Lake district.
I’ve always wanted to go to the Lake District! I’m sure I wouldn’t mind some tour guides 😏. I’d pay in beer, wine, and food 😘. I’m glad I saved these videos to watch all together!
Love the Lake District. We will be there next month visiting family. My grandparents did bed & breakfast in their home in the Yorkshire Dales near Leyburn. When we stayed my sister and I were waitresses for the breakfasts. I’ve also done dry stone walling with my grandad, I did what he called the ‘fillings’ where you put little stones down the middle to make it a little more solid. It’s a dying art.
That b&b carpet brings back fond memories for me 💕 ...when I was a young kid in the 70's and 80's my late mum and dad had a very similar if not the same patterned carpet in the hall and stairs, which in those days was very expensive, it was called an Axminster I believe, and you really can't wear it out! 😉
Oh that trip brought back so many memories as we lived only 9 miles from Skipton. Many trips on the A59 and over Blubberhouses and day trips to Windermere . Spooky now we live in the USA next to a place called Windermere with lots of lakes.
@@TheLodgeGuys You know I created the title sequence for this vlog about 3 months ago we have just not got round to sitting down to do it as we are out and about each weekend. On our to do list in July .
Oh yes - J.R. Hartley Flyfishing 😁😁. The custard on that pudding - yummy, and it looked like there was fudge sauce as well. Looking forward to the next couple of days on the Lake.
That countryside is so beautiful… so picturesque… man you should see what it looks like out here in CA right now… we are going through such a bad drought and everything is brown… I’m afraid the fires are going to start very early this year …OMG sticky toffee pudding is my favorite thing ever…I really enjoyed today’s video and can’t wait to see the touristy stuff next video… love you guys❤️❤️
Check out a pub called The Drunken Duck, Barngates, Ambleside LA22 0NG while you are there. Good food and brewery behind. Must admit we are going to Devon/Cornwall in September and I booked restaurants already to make sure we get somewhere
Thanks for taking us along :) Out on or around Windermere keep an eye out for otters. Yes, I'm old enough to remember the Yellow Pages ad. too! I used to stay at Willowsmere not far from the station, partly because they have a large car park, a rarity around there.
Shud ov gone to otherside and done a walk, lovely circular walk. We found a stall selling stawberrys dipped in chocolate on the shoreside on otherside a few yrs back.
A nice relaxing staycation. When I was a young lady I used to work at the langdale Hotel ,at great langdale. I used to go into Ambleside for our entertainment. Enjoy your visit 😊.
Haven't been to Windermere since I was a child. I vaguely remember the little area where the boats were, but can't believe how deep the lake is ! Hold on very tight if you go out on a boat ! Hope you both had a lovely time 💗x
Hi, guys 👋 love this i been in that little cinema it's like going back in time so cute🤗 i remember now what I went to see there it was the Narnia 😊 one thing that bugs 🐛 me at bed and breakfast hotels is the WiFi its hit and miss if it works or not 🤷♀️Nicks pudding looks amazing 😋👌when it hit August your be lucky to get anywhere to eat or stay all will be fully booked up so I would say booked now if you want anywhere to go in UK at moment try to get a week in Wales for August all fully booked and if they was not booked it was way to much for a week gone mad the prices at moment you could go to Orlando Disney ❤ for what it is here right now🤷♀️great vlog guys really enjoy this 👌😊xx
I’ve noticed online people arguing over the meaning of the word ‘staycation’ lol. To me it means the same as you. You holiday in UK. A lot of people were saying it’s staying at home with day trips out. No overnight stays.
Many years ago,at least 25 I would think ,we took our boys to the lake district, can you walk around lake windermere? I'm sure we did...I'm sure we visited a transport museum and also Peter rabbit place? Can't quite remember but I do know it was a beautiful place...we rented a house with friends and every morning the sheep were in our garden...all the kids were super excited to see them. Bringing back some lovely memories. I hope you guys had a lovely time,we absolutely do have some beautiful countryside in the UK,we are so lucky. That wee smiley dimpled face Buddha tho 🥰 I would have bought him for sure. See you Wednesday guys 💙💙 xx
We’re going to the Yorkshire dales for a nice break in nov when it’s cold 🥶 we love it there watching the horses race next to us in our cabin It’s nice to see you both enjoying your break after my surgery am looking forward to it more than ever loving the car
There are actually lots of bed-and-breakfasts all over the US. It’s been quite a while since I stayed at one, but I’ve seen some pretty nice ones. I’m not sure I would call this a staycation, since my understanding of the word is it it refers to staying at home and going to places you can drive to and then come back on the same day. To me this video is simply about a vacation - a nice vacation, certainly, but a vacation.
A staycation in the UK means a vacation staying away ( usually for a few days) from your home anywhere within the UK rather than travelling out of the UK. It doesn’t necessarily mean staying at your home with days trips to areas within driving distance, returning home the same day.
The father of modern geometric design for buildings such as Spaceship Earth at EPCOT is named Buckminster Fuller, the name sounds like he may be British. lol
Really jeal of you going to the Lakes. Keswick is 90 mins by car from me but as I no longer have my driver 😂 it’s public transport. The coach I use is not running until 5 July 😢

My uncle was the projectionist years ago at that cinama. Went to see Disneys Robin Hood there. Good memories.
I love that the two of you always make the most of the areas you visit, can’t beat a little break away, who needs sunshine ☀️ xx

The Boutique hotel is very nice , the bathrooms are very luxurious.I love the Lake District.

Axminster yes, was very posh if you had that back in the day

You need to do a video on why you moved to america and the process. Would love to hear that story

I use to have a boat on Windermere as we live down the road. It’s very deep 67 meters in places

The way you guys are packed into James reminds me of traveling economy on an airplane. lol
We have a lot of bed and breakfasts here in Wisconsin ! I live near door county and it’s beautiful there .
Me and my family stayed in a huge 4 story house in Kendal (I got put in the attic as I was on my own at the time lol) right in the centre !!!
Was it spooky in the attic ?
We’re going to the Yorkshire dales for a nice break in nov when it’s cold 🥶 we love it there watching the horses race next to us in our cabin
