Exploring New Waters with Mountain Laurel Guide Service, My Best Smallmouth Bass Ever on the Fly!

Not every day is a banner day, but if you keep at it, keep plugging, good luck is bound to strike. That's exactly what happened on this float with my friend James Hill, Jr. of Mountain Laurel Guide Service. Neither of us had ever fished this section of river before, so this trip was all about getting the lay of the land, finding structure, and perhaps landing a few fish along the way. As it turned out, I stumbled into my personal best smallmouth bass ever on a fly!

Neither did we! Lol. There were a few browns surface feeding that morning but it warmed up quickly and the trout activity shut down early.
