Thank you so much. I’ve been a very erratic state trying to figure out what I want to do. I’ve been looking at software engineering as a career and looking at boot camps that actually work and that weren’t so expensive. This one seems to be it while I’m working a full time job.
do you mind letting us know how the job is going, aswell as the range salary they offered coming out, and a lil about what you do, im sorry im just extremely curious, walmart offering thinkful course for cyber security and just wanna get a lil more info wherever i can.
Thank you so much for your honest review of the program! I am going through the prep course for the fulltime software engineering program, but with financial circumstances not *exactly* working out, I may opt for the flex program. I have been looking for a good review of the flex program, and your video definitely gave me more confidence in it! Thanks again :)
@@onecoolnerd Well, I will be committing to the flex program with Thinkful and starting next week (yay!) and I was wondering if you have any tips about how to be ready for the job search after the Bootcamp before graduating. For instance, did you start applying for jobs even before you graduated, how did you network/present yourself as a good candidate while still studying? Sorry if that's too much to ask for! I'm just trying to be ahead of the curve and get some input from successful alumni :)
@@nicolepagan7845 No, not too much to ask! Honestly, I got super lucky and got a job before I graduated. The last careers module has you apply for 10 jobs and I rushed through it and sent my resume out as fast as possible so I could finish the actual course, and somehow I got a job from that. In general, I'd say to make your resume as clean and up-to-date as possible (and include a "projects" section -- they referred to that a lot in my interviews). And I networked by posting to LinkedIn pretty regularly with my latest projects, and got some interest in that. In my experience, a lot of people in tech are really nice and want to give you a leg up because someone gave them a leg up, so just try to make friends. I went to a few virtual meetups, but didn't get much from them.
@@onecoolnerd I totally get what you mean by saying people in tech tend to be pretty nice and helpful. I am now 2 weeks into my flex course and I can't believe how supportive everyone is! I formed a little discord "cohort" with some folk in the same orientation I attended and our little community helps each other out tremendously. Also, I find that when I tell other devs that I'm doing software development they are so quick to want to help by giving me advice, tips, etc. Prime example: you taking the time to give me tips in response to my comment :) That being said, I will definitely start tailoring my LinkedIn to be more software dev based, and keep trying to network while in my course. Virtual meet ups sound interesting, I'd love to attend one and see what they're about! I'll for sure need help with my resume since I am new to tech but I'm sure my career coach can help with that when the time comes (I hope!)

As someone who works full time with a family, I think this flex option might work for me. My job is offering to pay so that helps. Thanks for your review.
This has been really helpful for me! I am trying to find a good boot camp and am relatively new to coding so this is an awesome video! Thank you for your honest opinion of Thinkful!
This is really amazing! This made me want to sign up for Thinkful and I am glad you had success! It's hard to find online bootcamps that actually help. Glad it worked out for you!
Hi I am at school thinkful and almost done but I need help for one think if you can I am in cyberscurity and I am stuck in assessment intelligence sources 2.2 if you can help me for this pls
Do you know anyone who did the cyber security program in Thinkful? I need help so bad im almost. I have a couple of modules that i am stuck on and i have no help & i have to be done by December. Not even my mentor can help me.
Hi, I watched this video last month and it was the push I needed to apply to Thinkful! I started the flex software engineering program on July 6th. Watching this video and your 1 year update was motivating :) as a 23 yo woman interested in tech it's encouraging seeing others succeed through this program. I like the course so far but I was wondering is it normal to feel lost here and there? There's a lot of information being presented and it feels like I'll never get it 😭
@@yonatanmekonnen4549 It's good so far, I have a month of lessons left then another month for a project. The first month was difficult and I wanted to quit lol but I powered through! Some concepts can be a lot but things are making sense now which I'm really happy about :)
@@MrTark123 Noo not yet. I finished the course almost 2 weeks ago (I extended my graduation date twice) so have been job hunting for 2 weeks now. Apparently the job market isn’t good rn lol but I will keep trying
Do you know what payment options they offer? I heard there online program has a job guarantee, and I was looking if they give loans, so I can pay them back after, or do they have to get a percentage of your salary? Thanks.
What was your job or education background before starting the bootcamp? I got accepted but I’m just researching more before signing. Thanks for the video!
I think I saw that as an option? I didn't take it, so I can't speak to it much. I do remember feeling like the interest rate was really high, but again, I didn't do it so I don't know more about it.
So glad I found your review as I'm considering enrolling with Thinkful. Out of curiosity for the coding bootcamp, do you have to be good or comfortable with math?
Absolutely not! I'm okay at math but not great, and no matter what, I can't remember a time I needed to use it during bootcamp -- or during my actual job, for that matter.
Not really! I have a bachlors degree in creative writing with a minor in environmental studies. I'd done some studying on my own (HTML, CSS, and verrrrry basic Javascript) with FreeCodeCamp, but that's it.
That was not the case for me, and I don't remember that being offered, however it's been a couple years since I did the program so I might be remembering wrong! I think they let you take that out as part of a loan? I'm not totally sure I remember.
