This is so beautifully rendered, Dr. Corley! A nice addition to my listening pleasure as I research Florence Price and Margaret Bonds. btw, Corley is my maiden name.
i like coding to classical music. i was listening to chopin's nocturnes when i started and then realized chopin was sounding different. i pulled up the screen and i see this gem. I've smiling wide in appreciation. excellent work ma'am.
Thank you! I'm sorry--I didn't post this, and was unaware of the comments. I hope my acknowledgement of your kind words qualifies as better late than never!
Thank you ! Such a great discovery for me ! Thank you to pay Tribute to women composers ! So many great talents and masterpieces that are not played enough around the world ! As a woman composer myself from France, I thank you to participate in changing things! So thank you again for this beautiful CD and beautiful interpretation too
Just heard this lovely, heart-tugging composition for the very first time on WQXR public radio in NYC this Mother's Day morning. Written in 1909, BUT---not recorded until almost 100 years later in 2005 by Maria Corley, who was nice enough to add her own Comment here. (See below)
I took many of the pieces from a Hildegard collection, 100 years of P Music by Black Women, 1890 to 1990. I believe that's the title. Valerie Capers pieces published by Oxford. The Price Sonata is published by Schirmer.
Thank you, everyone! I'm just discovering this, so please forgive the two year delay. :)
You're very welcome!

Sorry: my Comment below refers to the first track here: L. Viola Kenny's "Mother's Sacrifice."
Is sheet music available for these wonderful pieces?
Sorry for the delay! All of the music on this CD should be available from G. Schirmer Music.

Dear Robert: The credits list only Steinway, but not the particular model.
