Romanian pastor who survived the tortures of the gulag by preaching sermons to himself in his underground cell
RICHARD WURMBRAND, who has died aged 91, was a Romanian Lutheran pastor whose determination to spread the word of God led to his being imprisoned for 14 years and tortured by the Communist authorities.
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.-Hebrews 13:3
The founder of the Voice of the Martyrs, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, loved people. He and his wife, Sabina, had a great passion to lead others to Christ.
We have written about his courage as he stood alone among more than 1,000 leaders to denounce the control of Romanian communism. The communists had closed Sunday schools and oppressed the church. Pastor Wurmbrand resisted the communists’ control of the church and went underground. He held services for youth attending his church in front of the lion’s den at the Bucharest Zoo to prepare them for battle with the world. Pastor Wurmbrand led his little Lutheran congregation, composed of many Jewish converts, to the Bucharest train station to toss Russian Gospels into the windows of passing trains filled with invading Russian soldiers. The soldiers kept the Gospels. For many such acts of aggressive love, he and his wife both went to prison.
When Richard and Sabina began the work of VOM in October 1967 in America, some might think they would have been changed by living in an open, wealthy nation where everything could come easy for famous, gifted people. But their love, their burden - whether for helping those persecuted abroad or right next door - remained the same.
Pastor Wurmbrand woke up early in the morning with long lists of names of people. One by one, he would pray for them. He and Sabina fasted one day a week.
One night there was a great crash. Richard, now in his 70s, had fallen on the bathroom floor and fractured his skull. The next morning in his hospital room, he began to pull on his clothes to leave. The frantic nurses came in to tell him he could not get up. He said, “How can I sit in bed with only a little pain in my head when I am supposed to speak in Berlin where the people suffer much more than I do?” At the time, Berlin, Germany, was a walled-off city surrounded by the East German communist military. He flew to Germany.
After coming to America, Pastor Wurmbrand never owned a house or a car. Being older, he took driving lessons but was kindly told by the instructor that it would be better to save his money. On one of their trips flying overseas, he and Sabina would approach an airline counter with about 12 suitcases of clothes they had purchased at a used clothing store, clothes to be carried into communist Eastern Europe for persecuted Christians. The stunned airline agents crumbled under their heartfelt appeal and let them take the clothes.
When Richard and Sabina passed from earth, the house they lived in was sold and the funds used for international ministry. They had moved to an eternal house.
After Pastor Wurmbrand’s funeral, his son, Michael Wurmbrand, held a special dinner. A young woman told her story. She had worked for a florist and delivered flowers to Richard and Sabina’s home in Southern California. Sabina graciously invited her inside. Richard told her an old story of the Emperor of Japan who visited a garden to see only one flower, a very special flower. Then Pastor Wurmbrand looked at her and said, “And you are God’s special flower. This is why you came today. God loves you. You are special to Him.” She came to Christ. Her life was changed forever.
Whether he was speaking to his torturer in a Romanian prison or to a flower delivery girl in America, Pastor Wurmbrand knew that our highest calling is to be witnesses of the love and grace of God.
His legacy continues on around the world.

să meargă şi să pună o floare pe mormantul tortionarului care la torturat.Dacă nu ti se pare mare lucru,fă un exercitiu de imaginatie şi socoteşte că tu ai fost in locul lui şi mergi cu o floare să o pui pe mormantul celui care te-a chinuit ! Aşa vei intelege mai bine !

Wow! Can't believe I just saw this! I have supported his ministry for the past 2 years and had no idea you featured him!
Praise the Lord, we did work with the ministry as it is today but have decided to step back a few years ago. However, brother Richard has been an wonderful man of God.

Believe the Gospel:God is just,you have sinned against Him and you have to be punished by God in the eternal hell,God hates you and you can not enter in heaven because you have sinned. ,the eternal hell can be paid just trough Jesus Christ. God killed Jesus Christ for you in your place and that’s mean if you believe in Jesus Christ and you repent,you will be saved from the furry of God.
To repent is mean to want to live how God wants and to pray at Him for forgiveness and to say:Lord..please forgive me for all my sins i had did against you and please,change me,i dont want live in sins anymore,please change me and make me your children,please have mercy on me..
Remember , God does not hate you but he hates the sin that's in you...If he would hate us then there would be no need of Lord Jesus but because something valuable is in us he loves us and that is the spirit that he has given us...He hates sin that is in us , not us
@@discoveringthetruth9070 it is nothing valuable in us. What is in us,is just sin. If God doesnt hate the sinner,thats mean God doesnt hate Satan and demons. If God doesnt hate the sinner,thats mean Hell doesnt exist. Because no one wil Be in the wrath of God. But God said in the bible in 1 john 2:15 that God doesnt love the sinner. And psalm 5:4-6, psalm 11:5.
But then why would God love the world so much to send his only son to die for us?What is in us that God loves so much that he is willing to send his son to die for us.We need to understand that we were made beutiful wonderful creatures with the spirit of God in us but we are infected with sin but that does not mean God hates us , in fact he loves us but the whole plan of salvation is to separate ourselves from sin etc...If God hates us then there would be no reason for him to end his son to die for us...
In 1 John 2:15 if you look at that verse it sends you to Mathew 6:24 that verse does not mean that The Father does not love the following individual who loves the world but he does not love the Father...
Do you think God wants man to suffer in hell , No.Bit since he is just and rightness man that does not repent will suffer the punishment but God if he would hate us and see nothing good he would of never ever sent Christ to die in our place but because there is something in him that he put is us which has great value he loves us but this of course does not give us an excuse to sin , since God gave us more he asks us more..."John 3:16
Tot respectul pentru Fr. Wurmbrand pentru prin ce a trecut, dar ca pastor e un manipulant pragmatic si cu prejudecati, de unde stie ca tinarul care a fost ales pentru impuscare a fost vinovat? Ce, nu a existat in istorie sa fi fost ucis nevinovat? Ba da! Rau e ca majoritate pastorilor baptisti din Romania ii imita metodele lui, din pacate atata stiti, nu meritati 1 leu pentru ce propovaduiti!
