I have owned a Niche Zero for around 2 months. I'm now seeing there are a lot of other options out there around a similar price range but I do love the workflow, its easy and enjoyable to use.

i have a DF 54 for medium pour over and Turkish spiced coffee{great work flow} and ZP6 for medium pour over {use it for traveling} but both don't do a good job for dark roast pour over , guess ill be buying a 3rd grinder , any suggestions for a dark roast pour over only hand grinder Hoon ? I use many different methods {like V 60, Switch , Stag FX , HARIO Syphon , i think i have 6 or 8 LOL} i have put a few kilos threw the ZP6 and 2 kilos threw the 54 and found the DF54 for dark roast tastes vary similar in all methods of pour over. I have been roasting my own beans for 2 yrs now and really like the different flavors of the various beans i have been buying and the various flavors brought out with the different pour over methods used with different media used for the filter { various types of paper or cloth }.

Great video Hoon! I have however been struggling with a buying decision. Niche Zero or the new Mazzer Philos? Which is better for espresso. One is conical burr, the other is flat burr. I really need Hoon's expert opinion as I am a beginner espresso maker using the Breville Barista Touch machine for a couple of years. Many thanks Hoon.

I have the ESP and Eureka Mingon Manuale (upgraded with King dial and single dose kit) and I much prefer the ESP in use and for dialing in. I feel like my coffee has the potential to make better shots when I use the Eureka but if I am just a little bit off it is a sink shot. I can be a 2 clicks off in either direction on the ESP and still get a "good" shot. I hear that the Niche is pretty forgiving too. As someone who likes a modern take on traditional espresso blends (Brazil/Guatemala/Ethiopia at about 48-52 agtron) and ristrettos, I think the Niche is still on my list if I ever decide to "upgrade".
That said, I pull my favorite shots with the Flair 58 and 1Zpresso J-Ultra but that is only for when I am pulling one shot just for me. This is my combo for dialing in new coffees or trying out lighter roasts. I say lighter but nothing crazy. I don't drink anything roasted to much more than 72 agtron and even that is rare. (Numbers based off of roasters information, often times Onyx.)
Anyway, I like the idea of the Niche. One handed dialing, more micro adjustments than my ESP, easy to read dial for repeatability, easy calibration and cleaning etc, the list goes on. Now, being in Europe the price is a bit of an issue though.
Sorry I missed the live, enjoy your day! Hopefully I catch another one before the holiday and if not, happy holidays.

It's pretty subjective really. It depends what you are wanting from your grinder.

@@hazouro yes mainly for the price but the workflow is really clean and easy too .. the fact that you get like 0,1g retention without using the bellows and general easy maintenance (cleaning the burr chamber and the exit chute). I like the cup quality it produces and that's why I bought one but I can tell you it's worth it under 300€ . The Niche grinder is very good for dark roast espresso but if you want one grinder espresso and filter capable, you better go with the flat 54mm.
