    Marty took on so much and no one ever asks him how his doing coz he hardly shows any emotion but that man is going through it, the ma just had to burn the body of his brother in law imagine what that does to someone, Jason Bateman deserves big praise for how he protrays this man

    • @theConquerersMama
      @theConquerersMama 2 года назад +5

      Yeah, I have seen people think Marty didn't like Ben because he wanted him to leave. I took it as him wanting fewer people involved and possibly harmed from the get go. As a family member of a few mentally ill people, you know they have been down the road with Ben during bad episodes before. Ben does act out and gets physical. That makes it hard to want that around your children even if you are not money laundering and having to keep the FBI, the KC mob, the cartel & Darlene off your back. The whole situation if Ben was to describe it to a doctor would sound like a manic delusion. It's paranoia fodder.
      I think Marty cares about Ben well enough as a brother in law but this was not a safe time for anyone to have Ben around. Obviously.

    I genuinely don't understand what the writers are doing with Ruth/the Langmores, in general.
    1. I don't understand why she's not THANKFUL that someone took care of her dad for her - he did NOTHING but tear her down emotionally, abuse her (both physically and emotionally), lie, cheat, steal, and basically do EVERYTHING in his power to drag both himself and his family down, ALL THE TIME. (Which takes me back to some of the writing choices from last season: if they hadn't just made him such a one-note, cardboard cutout villain...just taken the time to write SOMETHING redeeming in his character...I would now have no problem with Ruth's dedication to him.)
    2. Ruth is mature enough/has seen enough shit, where she should 100% appreciate the seriousness (and lethality) of the business they're involved in.
    3. Further, she has seen enough shit/been through enough shit, that she should know EXACTLY what Wendy sacrificed (with her brother) to save ALL THEIR LIVES.
    It just seems that all this was a LAZY way to get her and Wyatt and Darlene on one side of the chess board (for next season), opposite the Byrds...for "D R A M A".
    To be clear: generally the writing on this show is AMAZING, which is why the 1-2 times when its not, really stick out. A lot.

    • @nirjhar4803
      @nirjhar4803 Год назад +3

      If you've never had an abusive dad its very hard to explain... There will still usually be love even in the most toxic of relationships like that, and its not like Cade didnt care about Ruth at all. He simply didn't see her going the other way other than being a criminal. Ruth's the definition of father issues.
      Also I don't see why Ruth disliking Wendy's decision is bad writing...
      Ruth is a literal idealist even after being exposed to the Cartel, heck, for a while so was Wendy. Both of them trying to get Ben to disappear off the Cartel's radar and actually believed(hoped) they could pull it off. The only difference is it became clear to Wendy it was just a pipe dream, while to Ruth it really wasnt.
      Now this is where it gets tricky, Ruth technically kills her uncles for Marty... And I guess you could call her a hypocrite for judging Wendy for killing Ben, but at the same time I dont think she sees it as the same.
      I personally believe the writing truly takes a drop in season 4... I really thought season 1-3 was done about as well as they could've been.

    Ruth calling Wendy out on "your own brother" and "were you too chicken spit to watch" is rich considering the date of her uncles and why she killed them
    And like many, she didn't bother to learn about mental illness or Ben's history before acting emotionally. Wendy isn't completely off base in feeling Ruth is part of why Ben is dead.

    Omg i want to believe so bad that Ben is still alive but idk. We never saw him actually get killed. Only a body but idk if its actually him. Plus Helen's own hit man, Nelson, kills her. And since shes dead there would be no reason to kill Ben. Another thing that makes me think hes alive is Marty isnt effected when he sees "Bens" body. I think he might have made a phone call between scenes to save Bens life while keeping it secret from Wendy and Ruth. 🙏🙏

      @@babyfood9537 yes also when Ben stupidly goes to the casino to say sorry to ruth Nelson walks in. Marty gets him out on the boat and passes him on for wendy to get him out of the state. Marty must have gone back to the Casino and Nelson might have still been there, giving him a chance to maybe pay him off or do something to save his life that we as the viewers dont see. I just feel hes too good of a character to be kill off in one season and I think he could really turn into an asset in the story line.

    • @babyfood9537
      @babyfood9537 4 года назад +1

      @@Baranello92 I forgot about that scene...so either Marty called Navaro straight up OR he paid off the hitman. I think the former is much more likely though. Maybe trying to bribe the hitman would be way too risky of a move even for Marty; he's probably loyal AF to Navaro. Agreed...Ben was too incredible of a character to just dispose of that soon. I think we will definitely be seeing him next season. Maybe they even did intend to kill him off (like how it was rumored Jesse was meant to be offed season 1 BB) but after seeing his performance and the fan reception they would be fools not to bring him back.

  • @derps0n839
    @derps0n839 4 года назад +2

    Go back to the first scene Ben was in at the school. He was doing the same thing back then, just at lower stakes. He wanted to make things right for that kid so he took all the phones and it escalated from there due to impulse.

    @babyfood9537 4 года назад +4

    Helen overplayed her hand big time. Her not realizing the ever growing importance of Marty (and Wendy) to Navaro's plans AFTER his whole family was gunned down at the baptism...was a MASSIVE oversight. He needs Marty's laundering expertise now more than ever to secure that legitimate inheritance for his children.
    It actually reminded me a little of Gus' henchman in Breaking Bad who got too big for his boots, thinking he could handle cooking the meth in place of Walt and Jesse, thinking that Gus would be fine with that. ..like what 🤨and we all know how that worked out for him 🩸🩸🩸😅

    I'm willing to bet Ben isn't dead. Seems to me that Marty knows something. I think he may have paid off the hitman and is hiding Ben somewhere. That's why we don't actually see Ben die or see his body. Just a thought!

    • @jmominis
      @jmominis 3 года назад +2

      Yes. Kind of wondering too. Dunno if Marty could pay off Nelson bc that would be the end of Nelson’ hit man cred.
      Depending on if Wendy called Nelson or she called Helen and Helen called Nelson, I think it would have to be Helen. But 2 theories from there;
      Marty could have got hold of Navarro to explain bc he knows Navarro holds family to high regard. Navarro would be the only one to call off a hit. Marty was the one that suggested for Wendy to call Navarro so unless Helen told Navarro she ordered the hit, Navarro wouldn’t know, so when Wendy called him she could have been calling to ask for an extraction or that Ben was in trouble and needed help or anything at all. It was Navarro that jumped in and ‘guessed’ she had him killed.
      Or maybe Helen told Navarro she ordered the hit and threw more shade on the Byrdes but Navarro is already getting annoyed with her and hearing she was going to have Ben killed confirmed for him it was time to end Helen. So he called Nelson to call off the hit on Ben and put the hit on Helen.
      Either way maybe Nelson kidnapped Ben and had him abducted to Mexico and we will get a family reunion at the fortress in 4-1

    • @jmominis
      @jmominis 3 года назад +1

      @@jameshawkins6619 That is totally possible, seeing that they didn't show us the actual encounter between Nelson and Ben. Although I think Nelson is probably (for a hit man) pretty honest so he would have to lie about having finished the job, especially with Ben's condition and how he would impulsively tell everyone he meets or try to come back. Nelson would want to secure him until things were settled back in Mexico.
      On a side note I noticed that when Marty was talking to Wendy when she was in the van she asked "do you have THE ashes" and not HIS ashes... and "are THEY heavy?" and not is HE heavy... so Marty technically wasn't lying to her. I think Wendy would still be pissed at him for letting her go through such grief but Marty probably be okay with her hating him if it meant she got to keep her brother. (edit - I stand corrected, the audio on you tube wasn't clear - when I watched the episode again on NF Wendy does say "do you have HIS ashes". My bad!)
      And Marty was pretty incistent that Ruth not go after Nelson or anyone, but I think if Ruth was going to go after anyone it would be the person that ordered the hit not the hitman, I think she would know that Nelson is just carrying out orders...except in this case maybe he was carrying out different orders and Marty didn't want Ruth getting taken out by Nelson or if she got the drop on him that he would tell her the truth to save himself.
      Oh well, a lot of theorization out the window if the bad news is verifeid in the premiere! But its fun to speculate!

    So I don't believe that Ben is dead. That zoom in on the license plate in the last episode.... Tennessee plates. Why is she driving a vehicle with Tennessee plates? Ben mentioned he had some friends in Knoxville so that's where she was taking him, but they live in Missouri. The the part when she asks about his ashes and if they're heavy... he says "not very". I read that a human being after cremation weighs 4-8 pounds, so that's not that heavy at all but why ask that question? Marty is carrying that bag around like weighs nothing. Then their son's reaction after looking at the ashes. Why shoot out the window? Idk... maybe they're just throwing something at us to give us hope that Ben is alive, but all that was for something you would think. I wonder if they paid Nelson off, and they burned a bunch of paper or something. One more thing, I think Wendy drives a Honda minivan... I've owned a Honda and the tail lights don't look that way. I'm thinking that Ben's friends picked him up.

He was (in their eyes) still someone with too much information, with a tendency to fly off the rails, who was feeling wronged by the Byrdes and so now even had a lot of reason to maybe try and exact some revenge/try to explain himself by spilling a couple secrets. He was a huge liability and I am a 100% sure he wouldn't have survived his hospital stay for very long, someone would have killed him. His death was *not* Ruth's fault for getting him out. My brother is bi-polar. This is kind of an over dramatized interpretation of it. When he goes manic he talks a lot and is impulsive but wouldn't attack someone for wearing a weird tie.

      That is your experience. You are fortunate. So many are not so fortunate. In my experience, with multiple family members and years of professional experience, this is a pretty accurate and humane portrayal of how it goes for some bi polar people.

    Honestly guys, this show is too much. I have a really thick skin, and like most anyone I'm desensitized by watching all kinds of horror, drama, murders, and just pure insanity of the movies and tv shows we've become accustomed to. I've watched almost all of the "great" tv shows: Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Son of Anarchy, etc. The kind of shows that takes you on an emotional journey where you feel personally connected to a character or story. This show makes me feel terrible, there are zero moments of levity or calm. Watching Ozark literally leaves me in a state of panic, the actions of these "people" are just inexcusable. I look at my life and think about the things that stress me out like having a silly argument with my wife or losing a big sale at work. I would drop dead from sheer panic over what these people have to live through in one day, What kind of life is this, why would anyone, seriously guys, why would you get involved in this world??? The scariest thing about this show is that these characters mirror actual people who are able to sleep at night after skinning people alive, murdering families, you name it. WTF is wrong with the people in this world that live these horrendous lives and then they have hell to look forward to. I'm honestly done watching TV like this, and I'm a grown ass man.

    I'd suggest you guys watch Banshee, but it's not hugely popular 🤷🏾‍♂️ I just know you two would love that show so maybe watch it on your own time apart from the YT channel

    Marty knew he knew it was gonna happen that's why he told him to leave and everybody else baited him into staying and Ruth enabled him to stay off his meds he would have been fine if he just stayed on his meds but Marty knew you can not blame Marty for his death Marty implored him to leave told him the leave Wendy told him to stay so did Ruth it's actually more Wendy's fault Marty had it all set up to leave

      @@NikkiStevenReact Agreed. At its current trajectory 📈 who knows, it may end up comparable, seeing as it has gotten better every season. The final seasons of BB were fire 🔥🔥🔥 though. Ozark still has a lot of work to do in my opinion but amazing so far, both great shows.

    Do you think Ben could still be alive? 🤔
    Edit: nvm I just watched until the end. Call me an optimist but I'm 75% sure he's still alive. Why wouldn't we see his death on screen? I feel like Navaro instructed Frank not to kill him for whatever reason

    Ben is not dead. It's not him im think, he managed to escape, and Nelson had to fall back on someone else, so as not to be killed, too.
