Thank you, I had lost the keys to the old one and didn't know how to install the new one I bought. Putting the key half way and turning the cylinder did the job.
@@stevenevangelist5221 Hey Steven, thanks 👍 for that "Tip" I forgot what year I asked for help with my security door. It so happens I was able to remove the locking mechanism and use a conventional door knob and dead bolt.
just moved in to a place with missing keys going to have to do this to get them rekeyed.. is there any thing out there to update this to have a key for outside and deadbolt like knob on the inside instead of a key
I’m in Denver too. Have similar model but do not have the keys to get it out. Need to replace it with a thumb knob type one instead of keyed on each side. Tried drilling it out but no luck but did destroy it nicely. Any suggestions at this point?
You cannot replace with thumb turn on inside. These aren’t designed to do that. You will have major issues. Sorry. These are a pain in the butt! I suggest taking the whole door off and replacing it to be honest
I got the inside cylinder out but for some reason the outside cylinder won’t turn. Just kind of wiggle. It looks like I have the same exact door (I’m in co springs I actually thought that might be my house I just bought lol ) any ideas for getting the cylinder out?
This is brilliant. Such important Denver information that I’m glad I found. Thank you for posting it.
Your video saved us so much time 🙂 Thank you!

Ok my issue is that a broke the key off in the cylinder. Don’t know where the spare is. How do I remove the cylinder???
Same thing happened to me..trying to find a video on that😩
Loosen the set screw. The unscrew the cylinder
You can sometime grab the piece of the key that remains in the cylinder with a pair of needle nose pliers.
not seen one in Orlando. Looks like a comm. lock mortise Cylinder
Man, having to open the deadbolt from the inside with a key could be deadly during an emergency.
Harry Ballsnack yes you are very right, some customers have me switch the inside cylinder to a thumb turn
thanks for sharing

Yes, they make various sized thumbturns for different mortise style locks.
Is it possible to buy a deadbolt with thumb turn on the interior side?
I just need to replace the handle because it just coming off, any suggestions?
I don’t see any screw on mine. Only one rivet holding the latch part to the gate. Any other way these things come off?
Nick B you may have a cheap generic one that does not come apart :/
Nick B google the manufacturer and see what the manuals say I guess

Channel locks. Or shove a flat head in the cylinder, put all your weight on it and twist
