I have no problem admitting Nu Metal is metal, not do I consider it an insult. But some Nu Metal bands are more metal than others. I always felt like Linkin Park was more on the Alternative side of Rock music than metal. On the other hand, it's pretty obvious that bands like Coal Chamber, Korn, Fear Factory, and Slipknot certainly fit the metal criteria even from a traditional standpoint. Either way, I still get sick of people maligning a type of music whose popularity has only been sporadic since 2003.
Honestly it ties the whole thing together. It feels has such a melancholic feeling to it, like you can really feel exactly what he is feeling. Masterclass of conveying emotion through his music. Also immaculate tie-in to have it end in two different verses overlapping when the lyrics declare his feeling like he's hearing something in his head
i’m currently 15 and i’m in love with this song it’s literally keeping me alive while i’m struggling with anxiety i love chester and i love knowing i’m not alone when i listen to this song. LINKIN PARK!!
That's amazing. I was about your age when I got into them too, no doubt they saved me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd make it to my 30s. Keep going, you're not alone ❤
I'm from France, Linkin park took a important part in my life when I was a teenager. My first kiss, first joint...This music gave me the courage to learn English language to school. So much feelings about this band... Rip Chester we miss you, I hope you're in a better world now.
RIP Chester, your music was a big part of my teenage years. Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Reanimation are my all time favorite albums. your music and your voice will never be forgotten. thank you for everything you've given us
I have developed schizophrenia months ago and this whole album scarily describes how it feels for the layman. A face inside judging you the fear and insecurity of sharing your mind with sonething you don't know what it is. The insecurity the fear and the broken pride it gives. The way I just want to disappear from the world thinking it will end because it breaks me. Paranoia conpletely debilitates me and when I have fear everything turns into senselessness. It attacks me judges me and never leaves when I lay my head down.
Why does it feel like night today? Something in the air's not right today Why am I so uptight today? Paranoia's all I got left I don't know what stressed me first Or how the pressure was fed But I know just what it feels like To have a voice in the back of my head Like a face that I hold inside A face that awakes when I close my eyes A face watches every time I lie A face that laughs every time I fall (It watches everything) So I know now when it's time to sink or swim That the face inside is hearing me Right beneath my skin It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back It's like a whirlwind inside of my head It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin I know I've got a face in me Points out all my mistakes to me You've got a face on the inside too Your paranoia's probably worse I don't know what set me off first but I know what I can't stand Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is I can't add up to what you can but Everybody has a face that they hold inside A face that awakes when I close my eyes A face that watches every time they lie A face that laughs every time they fall (It watches everything) So you know that when it's time to sink or swim That the face inside is watching you too Right inside your skin It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back It's like a whirlwind inside of my head It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back It's like a whirlwind inside of my head It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin The face inside is right beneath your skin The face inside is right beneath your skin The face inside is right beneath your skin The sun goes down I feel the light betray me The sun goes down I feel the light betray me It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back It's like a whirlwind inside of my head It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back It's like a whirlwind inside of my head It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
This song reminds me of my childhood, my first trip to me homeland, Algeria. Summer 2003, I was 12, and I only brought Hybrid Theory along. I blasted it everywhere, everytime. On the stereo, on my walkman. Heavy !
This album always will hold a special place in my heart. I was in like 7th grade when this came out and my mom didn't want me listening to it. I would constantly "sneak listen" to it. This album was like the start of my rebellious high school days lol.
Was 20, about to came out of school (my last days in college of engineering), this album came out... Listened on this album... hell i can't stop, man! 👍 Now 40, me sending my kid into school... both of us listening on this full album... hell non-stop, man!👍👍 Chester Bennington (RIP) 1976-2017
Heard this track on Kerrang 20 years ago this year, as a 12 year old, I can't describe how much thos blew me away. Never gets old, and I followed and loved LP all the way - but this and Meteora fucking take me back to a good time.
Remember listening to LP around 2003 at 4 years of age with my dad on the freeway. No CD but the cassette in the car. Great memories and still one of the best albums I have heard on top of Meteora. Still have the cassette too!
I smile at all of you mentioning your childhood and your Dad introducing you to metal via this band. I was in university at that age. I'm glad Chester left a legacy like this, hopefully if on some level he is reading/listening to you and smiling down back at you all as I am now.
Damn, this song introduced me to Linkin Park and the world rock/alternative music. I remember hearing this song for the first time. The second I entered the school hallway heading to classroom unmotivated and someone was playing music. I’m into Rap/HipHop jams, but it was just the perfect time and place and when that intro slap…damn! i felt like I was a star of the show…feeling all determined and 💩. like I could walk in the classroom smack the 💩 out of my teacher and go back home.
The greatest album ever invented.. I miss this Linkin Park, I'll never forget listening to the album endlessly when it was released... The greatest album known to mankind
Still one of the greatest albums ever created TO DATE! Listened to this at an early age and fell in love with the sound/ instruments and cool "rap" and rock combination. I revisit this album each year and never got tired of it!
RIP CHESTER, Thank you for all the memories in my late teenage years !!! This was the album i had on the first time i was out alone with my car. All the party's and fun with my friends on this cd. Hope you found happiness ! Grtz to where ever you are now from sweden.Rock on!
R.I.P. Chester thank you for your lyrics and your voice it made me survive Middle school and High school. We love you and I hope you find peace and that TMH have mercy on you, you was suffering inside. To all those that are suffering with depression keep your head up and seek help for. Professionals or friends and also know that you are loved.
Esse álbum junto de Meteora são os melhores álbuns do Linkin Park. Gostava muito da banda na época, pena que depois os outros álbuns não tiveram ao menos para mim o mesmo impacto.
Me I’m rocking it out I think I checked LINKIN PARK I was 12 or 13 years old the band is really tight I love Chester too. Also the other singer to use really good at. Rapping and yeah I’m rocking it.
I get so nostalgic hearing linkin park... it just reminds me of those early 2000's days so much.. when life was so much more chill for everyone... no social media, no twerking shitty instagram culture... back when mtv was pretty cool and chill....
This is the best music! I remember being 5 and listening to their first 2 albums because my older sister and older brother would constantly play them in the basement while im drawing my childhood created character 'bunny mermaid' lmao. Good fucking times tho....Rip chester bennington. Your voice spoke to me as a child, I will always love you man!

This album, without a shadow of doubt in my mind, molded my taste in music for the rest of my life. I will forever love this song and Hybrid Theory as a whole. 20 years later and this song still goes as fucking hard as the first time I heard it.
This song talks about paranoia and anixty, it's sad for people who goes through this everyday with family and friends including chester bennington ☹️🥺😔😢💔
hybrid theory is the one for me i was like 13 and listened to this over and over i liked all genres of music but especially liked bands thst connected emotionally l.p. mixed styles up but had that angst that was unavoidable as a teen
I remeber being a lonely ass kid back in middle school. Everyone used to push me aside, but not LP's music though. I was holding onto my MP3 Walkman with their songs like crazy during those times. I can safely say their music kept me sane throughout all those years of bullying.
First album i ever bought with my own money. Around christmas 2000 i believe. My dad and i listened to the whole album twice driving up to the White Mountains from Boston in february of 2001. Totally new to both of us. Me because i was so young , and my dad because he grew up in the 70s with its great -yet simpler- music. This song was my favorite.
RIP Chester. Wouldn't call myself a fan, but I used to listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora a fair bit a few years ago. Gonna listen to this album again for the first time in ages, always liked the production
Dude, he was practically crying out. He said himself 1. This song was about everyone angering you to the point of hatred and murderous intent, and 2. This one was his favorite... and another of his songs? NOBODY'S LISTENING. Oh the irony...
What a way to open an album. This song was the soundtrack to my start of middle school and still love it at age 30
Nice we aged well
Classic Material!

No it isn't. Unless you're 11
Linkin Park is only good because of nostalgia, they're actually objectively a terrible band
@@greatcoldemptiness not true at all. I first heard this song 3 years ago and loved it from the first listen
I feel the light betray me. Such powerful lyrics
Yes
They were my way into metal. No matter what people say, I love this band.
What Linkin Park does, they do well. Plus their live show is great.
I have no problem admitting Nu Metal is metal, not do I consider it an insult. But some Nu Metal bands are more metal than others. When this song begins is when you know this is the epic START of running this album CD.
This album is legendary, its been 20 years now

The ending part is always gives me a chills.
yes! the backing harmonies and Chester’s last scream on this song. so freaking good.

What a phenomenal way to start the best rock album in modern music history. R.I.P. Chester Bennington.
And THAT'S how you open an album, folks
THIS is their best song. All of Chester's pain and the very essence of Linkin Park captured in under 4 minutes. R.I.P Chester 😔😞
You can feel his pain. My favorite by this exceptional band. Such talent. Such a sad story.

Stay strong brother. You'll make it. I can relate to what you've been through. I've come from serious mental health issues too.
dude same.. this album eerily describes schizophrenia to a T
Jesus Loves You!
Run to Him!
Love HIM
I hope you are doing better and your treatment is working. I have major depression and anxiety disorder and mental illness is just hell.
Why does it feel like night today?
Something in the air's not right today
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
(It watches everything)
So I know now when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too
Your paranoia's probably worse
I don't know what set me off first but I know what I can't stand
Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is
I can't add up to what you can but
Everybody has a face that they hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches every time they lie
A face that laughs every time they fall
(It watches everything)
So you know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is watching you too
Right inside your skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within

It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
Damn, so many memories singing this haha
