I don't care where this song came from, but when I was going through suicidal thoughts, this gave me hope.
Why isn't it more clear in the description that they didn't write this song, and that it's a cover of Dear Evan Hansen?
Because K Love and other stations wouldn’t dare say this was originally performed by a gay man. That would tank their listenership, and confuse the bajeezus out of people cuz it’s a great song but may conflict with their beliefs.

When I heard this on KLOVE the first time, It genuinely caused me concern it wasn't noted. Then I heard Natalie talk about the song and not mention it. It seems a bit disingenuous to me. Thanks for saying it.

Sadly this song doesn’t bring up Jesus at all. Listening to it, no one would think to call on Jesus.

@@MintyShuffle “You will be found”. The idea implies when you’re alone, Jesus will find you, so you won’t be alone anymore. Or something along the lines of God’s love will always find you even when you think you’re alone.

I decided to look it up since I heard it on the Joy FM twice now and since I've heard the song before, knowing it's not exactly a Christian song. However, it was helped composed originally by a practicing Christian by the name of Justin Paul. But the lyricist for the song is not a Christian and supports gay rights 🤔 So I have mixed feelings I suppose, based on the backgrounds of the people who wrote this song originally. But anyway, I do appreciate the more positive implication. It's just very unclear though as to how it directly ties in with the Lord, when it does not mention Him or what He's doing for us/who He is in general. But anyway.

@@rm1825114 Talent doesn't make up for the fact that he does not believe in God, and did not originally intend for these lyrics to reflect the idea of God meeting us where we are when no one else would. It's just the idea of a friend in general being there for you. And a Christian artist deciding to sing it doesn't change that fact.... This honestly shouldn't be played on the Joy FM, or any Christian station for that matter. But we've been warned about this type of thing. Just didn't think the Joy FM would fall victim to it as well. Though I imagine it could also be a lack of knowledge, in that stations are unaware. 🤔 Regardless, it's wrong. So, when I wrote this comment, I said I have mixed feelings about this.... Well, the Lord convicted me about it recently, and that is no longer the case. This is not okay. In fact, it's more than that. It's wrong.

We all know human beings will fail us and can't carry us or refuse to look for us when we are corruptly lost in the world, because they too are lost as well and lack concern. Therefore the song message should be loud and clear who will find them. As a "Christian artist"? there should be no shame or secret about the only hope of salvation for a lost world in Jesus Christ.....Luke 19:9-10

I felt like I had heard this sung on AGT way more than a month ago... looked it up and yes, this isn't Natalie and Cory's song. Not sure how a cover of a secular song got on Christian radio, but still, two great artists with great voices. I'm happy I can picture this know that I will be found by Jesus and not just some random person. Gives a new and brighter meaning to an already positive song.

Okay, this cover is beautiful but- can someone explain to me why there is no credit to the original artists? Did they somehow get rights to the song? Because this is from Dear Evan Hansen, which is a Broadway musical I really love, and it seems really strange that in the RUclips credits section, Natalie Grant and Cory Asbury are credited as the artists, and how on the radio the song is introduced as theirs. I was thinking the same thing, when I was younger I would listen to the musical with my grandma, this was like 6 years ago, It doesn’t really make sense how the original artists aren’t credited at all.
with music the “artist” is the performer. sometimes that’s the same person as the writer, but often, songs are written by teams of people, and sometimes the performer isn’t involved in the writing at all
When people release a recording, they are considered the recording artists. The WRITERS still get credit for that & arguably/legally will get paid for their song being reproduced by anyone. I do agree that it'd be nice if they had said where it came from so people could know / not give credit where it's not due for the SONG, but this is not uncommon at all.

There’s literally no mention that this is a cover and not their song in articles and reviews. It’s from Dear Evan Hansen. One of my favorite shows and the original has nothing to do with God at all. They keep saying the song is about that and it’s actually not at all, though you can interpret it that way if you want but it’s still not a “Christian” song. Give credit where credit is due!!!

They, Professional artists technically, don't have to and it's not industry standard (b/c they pay royalties). Professional artists & bands don't put "Cover" on a song they release that came from another artist or band- see "Sound of Silence" or "Jolene" or "Somewhere over the Rainbow".... many people know the original singers/bands/shows but some don't. However, professional bands will release the song under their own band name and sometimes change the meaning of why they sing it.
Do your research before stating an opinion.
