@@JKoverland thank you 🙏 that means a lot. About 18 months now, transitioned from Land Rover ownership (disco & defender) which both served me well, it’s a nice car to drive - feels more refined whilst still very capable. The winter saw me rebuild the top end as they are prone to crack but with that done it feels reliable 🤞 I hope to get up to Yorkshire way soon as I have a friend based in Halifax who lanes in his Jeep, I tend to do Wales and Salisbury given they are within 2/3 hours from where I’m based around Milton Keynes. David
@@retromechanic2238 nice! So you did that work as as preventative maintaining? What year was yours are they ok from 05 or something I heard? Sounds like a keeper now :) Definitely worth getting up to the Dales if you can!
@@JKoverland it was more mine sadly showed signs of coolant system pressurising last summer on a trip to the south coast and back so I took the plunge and “assumed” it was a crack in the head - whipped it off and my assumptions came to fruition! Yes these ZD30 engines have a few “common issues” - I know the 05 onward (common rail diesel vs my diesel timing pump) mitigates a few issues but I think the head design isn’t too dissimilar and the possibility of cracking remains - I think the main issue is the lack of material Between valve seat and glow plug hole. Not to worry though, a good learning experience ripping one apart - a good opportunity to deep clean its bits and bobs too which can only help. Touch wood trouble free motoring on the lanes! Hopefully be up there soon, maybe we’ll spot Molly on the lanes!
It sounds like the best thing to do at that point. Nice knowing its been sorted for sure! I guess you know every last piece of that engine now. Yes hopefully catch you and Patrol out there sometime 👍
Waheey, glad you're back! Molly looks great. Loved the interior of that other Paj as well, we are looking to pick up a MK2 for a bit of camping, so very nice to see.
I was a little sceptical about overlanding in the UK. it makes sense for Australia, Africa and the Americas but I though the UK was just too restricted but this does look like fun
Awesome. What is the best way to find over landing routes? Finding byways open to cars seems quite restricted. I live on the edge of the Brecon Beacons so trying to find some around me. Any tips?
So good seeing Molly up and running again. Loving the new colors. Now ive got to go back and catch up on videos again
Awesome .

At first probably best to join a local group or check out Trailwise 2 for finding the legal routes 👍
