Lyrics: Light--light like paper; light scattering on the land; light that hurries in the gradual applause, she sings of the pain she cannot bear. The script is on the stage, performing the final scene, and all the people in the village are sitting down and quietly watching. How does time desert the theatre? The flames of war defiles her glistening tears; who makes noise to eat sweets? The dust in the beginning scene of this story has already covered the sun--bang! Fear is carved on the children's faces; the wheat fields fall in the direction of the passing tanks. The shape of dandelions drift; a flight of despair. She only sings and thinks of these wounds of war. The evil night burns the candlelight; the day breaks the news of the chaos of war. The song of the young dead spread a thousand miles; the homeland is like a famine. Innocence falls and hits on the road; she's cut by silvergrass. What shapes do the hopes in children's eyes take? Is it waking up to have bread for breakfast, or to drink hot soup again? Farmers burned with their villages finally raise arms, but she slowly gets used to giving up resistance. What shapes do the hopes in children's eyes take? Is it a garden with a swing shaking away, or having candy in their pockets? The light on bayonets is polished off by hatred in a faraway barbarity, and she weakly smiles, not knowing confusion. lyricstranslate.com
wow. The music is beautiful, haunting, but beautiful. His voice is amazing. I had to try to find the lyrics (in English) & if they are properly translated it is a very strong, powerful song. Thank you for sharing.
Jay started recording music in 2000. He didn’t have an official RUclips account until like 2010 and a few years later he went back and formally released all of his old videos. By that point he already had 10 albums worth of videos. Until he officially uploaded them, you could only see the older videos because random users posted them but the quality wasn’t consistently good. Since I guess 2012 his official account has released his entire catalog of videos in one place. You have to wiki to figure out when the actual songs/videos were made though. Like this song is the final track off his 5th album from 2005 I think. So, no, he didn’t make like 50+ music videos in one year and release them all.
if you guys are wondering, i can't understand what is singing without look at tha lyrics too even if im a chinese cuz jay sings always like ... mumble rap, prononce the word more ambiguitical to let the man's voice fit the beat
Thanks for reacting to this song. His albums from 2003 to 2006 were all masterpieces. I recommend his 4th, 5th, and 6th albums. 4th is called Ye Hui Mei(named after his mother) this album is from 2003. His 5th album from 2004 is called Common Orange Jasmine( this song is the 10th track on that album. His 6th album from 2005 is called November's Chopin and was the first peak in his career. He was at the top of his game. November's Chopin is probably the favorite out of the majority of his fans. It has a perfect mix of fast songs and ballads. The albums after that are still great, but it's when he started having more ballads. He still has rap in his later albums but not as many. I promise you won't be disappointed if you listen to the albums I mentioned. Honestly he deserves to be in the hall of fame. He's a musical genius. There are few artists who compose the scores for all of their songs and Jay is one of them, because of his background in studying classical music, multiple instruments, music theory, and composition, he was able to create all of these timeless pieces of art. I've been a hardcore fan of his since 2004 and he never ceases to amaze me with his music. Last year he had the 1 # selling album in the world and I'm so proud that he was finally able to achieve that. Hopefully he keeps climbing so more people in the west can hear his music. It's lonely being one of the few non Asian Americans who knows who he is.
Light, as light as a sheet of paper; Light scattered around Using applause to gradually distinguish the fright of light She is singing of the unbearable wound Scripted play on the stage at its last act Yet all the villagers are seated Quietly watching how time is abandoning this theatre The war has grimed her tears Who is standing in the wind, pestering for candies In the very first scene of this story Dust and ash clouded the sun Fear is frozen on the children’s face The wheatfield has drooped in the direction of the passing tanks Dandelion floating along In despair it flew She is just singing, just thinking, about this song that signifies the cease of war A bad night of flaming candles, the skies are crowded with the chaos of the war The war song transmitted thousands of miles with the hometown experiencing hunger Innocence walked this route Falling and stumbling, she is cut by the Miscanthus The hope in the eyes of children, what forms do they take? Is it bread for breakfast upon waking up With a bowl of hot soup Farmers who had their land and villages razed Finally picked up the guns Instead she gradually give up resisting The hope in the eyes of children, what forms do they take? Is it a swing in the garden With candies in the pockets The gleam from the bayonet is polished with hatred It is throwing a fit in the distance But she is just smiling and has not knowledge of fright
I'll recommend the best songs in this album in case you just wanna react to single songs rather than a whole album. The songs are My Territory, Grandma, Checkmate, Chaotic Dance Of Spring and Autumn. These are the fast paced songs in this album. The album name is Common Orange Jasmine from 2004 and is his 5th studio album.
The piano melody in this song is based on the composition style of Chopin. Chopin is Jay Chou's favorite composer and some of his own compositions are inspired by Chopin. Look up the piano piece "Nocturne in c minor sharp" this ain't sampled from Tupac lol.
@ms.chuisin7727 Well, maybe, a lot of rap beats are inspired from dark classical piano. Jay Chou is known for composing the scores for his songs though. He has very few that are sampled and I don't think this is one of them.
I just listened to "Dear Mama" and heard no similarities in melody, instruments, or music style. I'm not sure if I heard the right song but they're not musically similar at all. If I'm being generous then maybe similar rap flow? But the score and beat is completely different.

Light, as light as a sheet of paper; Light scattered around
Using applause to gradually distinguish the fright of light
She is singing of the unbearable wound
Scripted play on the stage at its last act
Yet all the villagers are seated
Quietly watching how time is abandoning this theatre
The war has grimed her tears
Who is standing in the wind, pestering for candies
In the very first scene of this story
Dust and ash clouded the sun
Fear is frozen on the children’s face
The wheatfield has drooped in the direction of the passing tanks
Dandelion floating along
In despair it flew
She is just singing, just thinking, about this song that signifies the cease of war
A bad night of flaming candles, the skies are crowded with the chaos of the war
The war song transmitted thousands of miles with the hometown experiencing hunger
Innocence walked this route
Falling and stumbling, she is cut by the Miscanthus
The hope in the eyes of children, what forms do they take?
Is it bread for breakfast upon waking up
With a bowl of hot soup
Farmers who had their land and villages razed
Finally picked up the guns

This song came out in 2004 and was upload on youtube 9 years ago.

^^ 謝謝你喜歡他 杰倫音樂很好聽
Reaction David Tao's music album will be watched by many people. It can start from his 1997 album. If you like r&b
Bruh wish you’d have a try on Jay Chou’s 半獸人 (Orc). It’s inspired from the LoTR and Warcraft
夜曲和稻香也很好听!
What's the name of the song at the end? 5:56

Help me here, Cash, but this sounds/sampled from Tupac. Perhaps similar to 'Dear Mama'...

@@lachousalle31 Perhaps Tupac sampled that too. Not uncommon
