I think Educational institutions in North East also play a huge role in promoting football. Back in my high school days, there used to be specific period called "Game period" every week. In that period the entire boys of the class would directly go to the football ground and devide the team based on the houses (red, yellow, green and blue). We play the football match as if it was a real tournament not caring about the sweat and dirt on the school uniform. We would judge our play based on how much we have sweat in that match😂 irrespective of the goals scored. There would also be school sports where football match would be the main event of the sports.
Also, Colony tournaments, schools tournament, churches tournaments plays a huge role in the North Eastern region.
However, the sad reality is that there isn't much of great infrastructure and there are alot of cases where a good potential players had to switch career because there isn't much of future potential and support from the government.
Indeed, North East is the hub of football here in India but there still alot of work to do and mainly support from the government.
And also, the basketball scene especially in Mizoram and other north eastern states is insane🔥. You should check it out.

    • @footballunplugged
      @footballunplugged  Месяц назад +4

Bro this reminded me of my school days as well. I think a lot of kids in the entire country do this but I think parents in general are more open to their kids going into football as compared to other parts and that plays a big role. I could be wrong bere but this might be a thing. And its great for the country to see north east doing well. It woukd only make our country better

im from arunachal and i thank you for bringing up the northeast football. We love this sport, I don't think there's any northeast region that doesn't know football. From young child to old grand ma and pa everyone know what football is. Our northeast has a huge talents when it comes to football, i myself used to play football back in my days(but now im just get tired easily😂) i got some friends who even went on to participate in state level football tournaments. Here in northeast, football is huge and the respect that we have for this sport is beyond any other sport in the country, after all football is a beautiful sport.
On the side note have you ever seen an arunachal football memes? If not you should because they are hilarious 😂 and i don't think arunachal is the only one who makes football memes i think other states also makes too. Anyway...

I am from the Northeast and have travelled to most states in the Northeast and on the mainland. The difference I noticed while being in Mizoram/Meghalaya is every village/locality had a football field where grassroots coaching was carried out every morning or evening. While in the Mainland I can see the same passion for cricket but not football. Football is more of a cultural thing in the North East.

Meanwhile when it comes to football almost every village have a football pitch in both the hills and valley, and almost every boys played since our childhood days till toady. The sad things is that our centre govt. gives their attention only to promote cricket which is not much famous in the worldwide. Many talents from northeast didn't reach their destination as the govt didn't invest and pay much attention to football in India

idk for other states but for manipur there were zero fundings from AIFF and INDIA govt. or even the state govt most the players plays through their passion and u can also see most of the players from manipur playing in ISL came from below poverty line family. And u can also see in many interviews literally its zero funding

We play football at higher altitude, so our stamina stays high whenever we start playing for regular days. This contributes us in retrieving stamina quickly and more oxygen intake. It's easy for us to play on plain ground more effectively unlike plain people might have respiratory problems whenever they need to play in higher altitude.
Indian football players need to start staying and practicing at higher altitude place like Shillong, Itanagar, Imphal, Aizawl. Home ground should be established at NE regions in order to reach international level physical attribution.

These standout plyers are few, I've seen and witnessed more talented players other then them in local football who couldn't make it big. I think the same goes to goa, west bengal and other part of India.

The major reason is that every body can afford playing football and we are being mostly modest economic background take football easily.plus we like challenge and playing sports like football builds us for coming future.the hardship of the terrain and less infrastructure along with dejection from rest of India makes us work and play even harder.if half of money from Kashmir is diverted to northeast.the youth out here can bring more Olympic medals and bring glory in football and other combat non combat sports.myself used to play football in B division team of a club way back in 2002 later on choose academics.give us money and infrastructure we can show the rest of the world what metal we have in our belly.

in near future northeast will be better than it is now. according to the change in time, generation also change, and eventually mindset also change, i was also once a football maniac, always on it but family never supported me and always insist me on becoming a govt job wala, so, here i'm still trying to gain a spot on govt sector.
with football being upgraded and players becoming crorepatti, parents have now started becoming more supportive and even push their childrens to be a part of it besides in this generation of mobile, some parents enroll their kids in football academy just so that their child becomes more physically active.
so, in the near future, northeast will produce better footballer than it has.
if my parents had ever supported me, i would be among india's best today, i know i'm capable of it.
and if one day god bless me with a family and my child happens to love football, i promise, i'll let this light shine in him, support him in any way possible❤

I was in Punjab during my college days, and they had football trial. I didn't play any professional game, just a hobby player, but when I went, the coach just asked where I was from. I said Manipur, and he was like, "No need for a trial You're in!" 😂
