Hi. I am retired (pilot) from UAL. I always had great friends among the FAs. I know very well what airline life is like as flight crew. Hang in there, or? Just be happy.
Happy New Year to you!!🥂 My time right now in Chicago at 9:22pm Sunday evening. I hope you and your family are going to enjoy tonight calmly and safely.😊 You made me laugh about dropping and picking up trips😅. We, F/As and Pilots, go through this trying to arrange our lives traveling!! With the different bidding schedules that we all see, it does get over the head sometimes!! Tired, long days, different crews to work with and different hotels in different cities to layover in.😊 Yes, so, you have to balance this career life with your at home life. Yes, you have to get rest between flights at home!! Yes, it is a balance in your life! I learned that as well when I was working with my former career at United! Yeah, one other thing that surprised me about my travel career is that, I had my ex boyfriend in another city! Yeah, it was a total surprise for me to travel to Los Angeles a lot. And yes, I brought my ex here to Chicago. But he did not like cold weather here! But it was nice! So, yes, as I git more senior, I also, would drop trips I did not like to pick up LA trips! I have family there but having layovers in downtown LA or in Santa Monica were really nice!! And other times when I drop trips, I would go out to LA and see him. Having a lot of hotel points come in handy when traveling. I learned how to balance my life with this career! It took a while!!😊 You will manage how to balance your life with this career.
Happy New Year! Thank you for always sharing your FA stories with us! Now that I am done commuting there will be a lot of room for better work/life balance
Hello Will! Happy New Year! Wishing you the best and many blessings. Thank you for your vlogs. I have enjoyed all of them. Enjoy your time with your family. Always looking forward for your next vlog. Have fun and stay safe! Cheers! Feliz 2024!
Hello there! First timer here from UAL MCO! It’s so amazing how much I can relate to your flying vlog! I think we face the same scheduling structures here on our side as well! I can tell you that it’s not an issue related to your airline alone! Anywho! I enjoyed your content and look forward to more! Happy New Year and Fly Safe!👍🏽
Welcome and thank you for stopping by. I'm not glad that you're going through something similar but I think it's good to know that we're not the only ones. Glad you enjoy the content. Happy new year and fly safe!
Hopefully you can sit down and prioritize things in your life, slow down and get organized. You seem to always be running on close to empty and you can do that when you are young but only for so long until it takes it toll. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024!!
Will, am doing this on the 1st, so hope everything went OK with family. You sounded very tired waiting for ride, so wonder about if you guys went out that night with your need to be up and smiley next morning. There is good bit of info in media about what F9 is changing and it is a topic of discussion in the industry. Mr Biffle has been open and clear that company has to get costs under control regarding layovers - shuttles and hotels and per diem s involving TAFB. And the fleet will be overnight at assigned bases much more. Some bases have already reached close to 80% of the changes he is implementing. Seems that LAS and MCO have not gotten changed as much as others, but that it will happen in them also. Obviously, most likely less credit hours and certainly less per diem in becoming a carrier that is 90% turns, and, added to that, per diem on turns gets taxed. May work well for those with families who want to be home nights. Ryanair seems to be the model to be emulated. NK faces some of same problems on bigger scale, and has asked for voluntary leave from certain of crews in all bases of as much as 6 months to a year, but continuing to provide health coverage. If not enough volunteer, furloughs depending on seniority. So hope 2024 is positive, especially with no commute anymore and the fun of furnishing your new home. Your friend, Herman
Thanks for the analysis. Honestly every airline has it's pros, cons and operational challenges. I will not believe anything it's said until changes take place. This is all reminding me of when we were going to "merge" with our yellow plane friends and even they knew it wasn't possible 🤷♂️
I would think that Detroit would be a tough layover bc.. well.. it's not really in the city of Detroit. LOL it's about 25 minutes away in Romulus, Michigan which isn't the most scenic of places? There's just not a whole lot there. And I say that with love, as a Michigander. 😊
Hey will! I feel your pain. I have the same thoughts at NK. The flying gets repetitive. Rumor is a mainline might open a base in RDU, but then I thought would I have the same quality of life? Is it worth going back on reserve? I switched bases a few times to change the flying but switching your bids will help too. Hang in there!
Hey! Thanks for sharing this thought. I'm not glad you're going through something similar. We've heard about RDU for us too, but what do we really know? Honestly, I really don't feel like going back to reserve is worth it just to see new routes. It might be the same too. Hang in there! Take care
@@willinflight_ oh I agree. I don’t think I have any reserve left in me. I also started buddying bidding with people I really like. 😝 This makes the layovers fun even though I been to them many times.
Congratulations!!!! So happy and excited for you. Whew there are so many things I can tell you about training but the most important part is trust yourself. It will be a lot of info but take it from me that came from no airline experience at all. Save up as much as you can and don''t forget why you decided to become a FA in the first place :)
The airline would then put those trips in something called premium. They usually pay double or sometimes triple of what the trip is worth. Premium trips can be picked up by anyone
You are a young man. Don't complain about one hour time zone difference. Eastern to central time zone. Then back to Eastern. One hour difference is nothing for someone your age.
When you're flying over 100 hours a month, it is. Regardless of age. And I'm not complaining, I'm just explaining something and sharing my thoughts on it...

I see your 📺 screen and wanted to tell you I really loved the Suits series. Enjoy them!!!
I am binge watching it but also taking it slow at the same time because I don't want it to end.

Everybody at NK remembers that for sure, and then B6 reared it’s head🎉

For safety reasons we'll always refer to our layover locations as the next major city ☺️

Just Got CJO for your Airline hoping to get CLE as base ! Any tips for training ? Thanks

What happens if you drop a trip and your employer can't find someone to take your place?

A first seeing the mileage of each trip. Geez Louise!! 😅😅
Indeed! 😅

You scared me with your title of " we have to talk" I thought you were announcing that you were leaving FA or you tube!
No! I'm here for the long run 🥹
@@willinflight_ glad to hear!
Isn’t frontier doing turns and less layovers ?
We've always had them. Some bases have more of those than others. I'm lucky MCO has tons of trips
cvg.. i live there in ohio .
cool

What are you hiding with your glasses on the right side of your face?
?
?
@@willinflight_ The footage looks like you are trying to hide 2 pimples.
But if you can see them, how am I hiding them? Also I can't believe you are really concerned about this. These are my prescription glasses.
@@rsnc23 Wow you are so rude
