From late 1979 until early 1989, the Soviet - Afghanistan war was fought between the Soviet Russians, and the Insurgent group known as the Mujahideen. The was war was similar to that of the Vietnam war, with the Mujahideen using guerrilla warfare tactics, resulting in a Soviet withdrawal.

What mods are these
There's a thing with USSR and post USSR wars that are always so magnificent for me. So aesthetically beautiful. Vietnam is the only war that is close to this feeling. The music, the sightings, the raw nature of the war itself.
Vietnam also one of the only wars that comes close to the incredibly awful politics and war crimes. The war in Afghanistan was just so unbelievably awful for everyone

@@jeffpardue7265imo the chechen wars werent even aesthetically beautiful or some other sht, it was just raw war, suffering, constant death and shelling, leveled buildings and absence of the will to live, one of the ugliest wars
there’s something so aesthetic for me about this war, I don’t know. I think the most intriguing conflicts for me is Yugoslav war, US invasion and occupation of Iraq and the soviet-afghan war, just something about them I can’t describe.
Don't forget chechen wars and Opetarion Just Cause (US invasion in Panama)
Dtravyed oh yeah the second Chechen war in particular for me is so intriguing. The invasion of Panama never rlly peeked my interest though
Same idk why I think it’s cuz I’m Afghan but I wish I was born during the invasion time so I could join the fight fun fact my grandpas brother is Abdul rasul sayyaf a top commander in the mujihideen and my grandpa was a general during zahir shah so I guess it’s just in my blood to join the military or the mujihideen 🙂

What's special about the laptop is that the very model you see in the scene, was used in Bohemia Interactive's Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis 2001 game as an ingame OPTIONS interface. It's a memorable Easter egg for us old OFP players ( OFP:CWC is the progenitor of ARMA series, same Developers, same company, 19 years ago, damn I'm old xD ) Still playing ARMA 3 to this day that gives us these memorable Machinima vids. The Taliban had no connection to the Mujahideen, they spawned during the Afghan Civil War.

Arma 3 can be frustrating as hell but reliving real conflicts make this such a great game. Caravan and Swallow Dust are great Soviet/Afgan war songs. Excellent video!

Arma 3 hands down most realistic combat simulator ever. Spent 2000hrs as a marksmen, Imagine when Arma 4 comes out...its gonna be so good!

The music that came from the Vietnam war was anti war, but mostly never mentioned what happened. The Russian-Afghan war brought it's own unique music and seems to talk more about it.
my dad participated in this war he tells stories about the war like hard situations he has been in my dad said once "we almost ran out of food there was a dog we ate it" he said

P. S. For those who are unfamiliar with some specific words and collocations: "Black Tulip" was the name of the helicopter that was coming specifically for the "load-200" - the mortally wounded and/or dead soldiers of the Soviet Army. The reason they were called "load-200" is because, alltogether with a zync coffin, a dead soldier weighed 200 kilos.

The song talks about a soldier in afghanistan whose legs are broken and he is running out of ammo. He is the last soldier of his group and when he is about to be finished by the enemy he pulls the pin out of a granade.

It's by Viktor Tsoi from what i know... band is called Kino but sometimes he makes his own songs by himself and not with the band

1:44 , I remember reading or hearing somewhere that Helicopters (atleast the Mi-24s) always flew in pairs during and after Afghanistan, just a little sidenote. I don't remember the source however and could be wrong. Otherwise it's a nice cinematic

@@MrZhypo I don't think so. The aviators have two goggle pieces for each eye while the ones presented at the timestamp look to be of a "single piece"type of design.
