- Western political leaders have come out in support of Israel - with one exception: Ireland.

I'm reading a book about the Irish Famine( starvation) . 1845-52 The Natives were starved by the British Empire and over a million people died , it was a genocide that doesn't get mentioned at all , even in history classes. So the Irish knew about suffering that's why they show Solidarity with Palestinians.
Hi
Technically it’s not accurate to call it a famine . It was a failure if 1 crop , the potato , which was the only food peasants were allowed to grow and cultivate themselves. There were plenty of other foods available but under strict British Empire control . In fact it is historically recorded that ship loads of wheat, beet, beef, corn were regularly shipped out of the country to feed the British armies in the other colonies .
Queen Victoria refused any help as did the vast majority of the ruling class ( except a few exceptions too few to make any difference)
The “Famine” was an opportunistic genocide by the British .

*Have you heard about the Ottoman's Flotilla?* During the Irish famine, the Sultan Abdulmejid sent three ships full of food supplies and funds as charity. The British did not give permission for these ships to enter the ports of Belfast or Dublin. The ships secretly discharged their load at
the wharfs of Drogheda on the coast of the River Boyne. The generosity of the Ottoman Empire is still remembered by the locals, 176 years later.

True and well said. Oppressed people need to stand together against the Imperialists.
They did, there's a sculpture in Cork, "Kindred Spirits "
During covid, the Irish set up a GoFundMe account and paid millions back to the Cherokee and Choctaw peoples when they needed it most. This brought so many tears to my eyes. Imagine that. Just think of it. The Irish didn’t forget as a collective group, and paid back as a gesture towards those native Americans in their time of need.. because 150 years ago they helped the Irish. It’s incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Which is why it's weird. If we compare the Middle East to the British Isles, then the English are the Arabs, Welsh and scots are the Kurds and Assyrian, and the Irish are the jews : The only indigenous people that got their independence. Palestinians are the British people in Northern Ireland. It's like supporting the British to conquer all of Ireland and make it British.
the Brits committed an 800 year Irish genocide then 1947 moved their colonial structure to Palestine to process Jewish settlers

Actually, we’ve been occupied for around 800 years!
Funny that the Brits don't see it that way at all. I lived In the UK for ten years and am very familiar with Ireland, including the North. The most widespread view is that they could really care less about which way Ulster goes. Most would rather it simply go away. It's seen primarily as a province that is incapable of being anything but a problem and a burden.
Also, since the Good Friday Agreement, it is a fairly bizarre assertion to describe the relationship as an occupation. British forces that were increased during the Troubles are fairly rare now and the police service was dramatically reformed.
That's hardly an "occupation". What remains is the tail end of an ethnic conflict over national identity.
And quite honestly, when people rehearse the old political jargon as you just have (or someone does the same for old, Loyalist talking points), they are doing the opposite of helping the situation. You're fanning the flames.

You can get an Irish passport because they were born on the island even if before the Irish state was created. You can become the Irish citizen they always wanted to be
There are so many parallels with Ireland, I'm surprised not to hear more about them. The Plantation of Ulster, Sydney's observation on the state of Ireland, Cromwell's genocide after the Catholic rebellion 1641 ( and the exaggeration of atrocities) , the Apartheid Penal Laws, The Punch cartoons depicting Irish as animals, The British mandate creating "a little Ulster" in the Middle East. @@JagerScot-01 The problem is the past is not past. We're still grappling with the problem of partition in Ireland and the middle east is still in turmoil. My point is: what can we learn from the past to truly leave it behind? One thing is, if you keep persecuting a group they will keep resisting. Relative peace only came to the northeast of Ireland when all sides left behind the "politics of the last atrocity" and instead agreed to "parity of esteem". If this were applied fully to Palestine/Israel there would be an end to the cycle of violence. Learn from the past to move beyond it. There are no shortcuts. Beannachtaí ort!

There is a huge diffrence in the legal position between 'freedom fighters' and 'terrorists'. The definition is: “Terrorism (from the Latin word terror, panic) is the commission of serious violence, or serious threat thereof, WITHOUT LAWFUL GROUNDS, for a political or religious purpose. In most understandings of what terrorism is, it must involve illegal violence, usually linked to civilians and victims. This means that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but a resistance movement that even has the right to use violence. Israël, together with the US, UK and the European Union are the terrorists because the occupation is not a legal ground.

Check out Island Of Eire
It's not a genocide and no amount of propagandizing will change that.
It's a horrific tragedy. It's an intractable ethnic conflict. It's an absurd situation where the most religious people in the Levant are the most likely to behave in ways that are shockingly immoral.
But it's most definitely not a genocide and I'm certain that the historical record will show this when peace finally arrives in the region.
The real lesson that Ireland has to offer is that at intractable violent ethnic conflict can only be ended when both sides have decided not to engage in violent tactics anymore and the local people get bored of constantly blaming the other side in anger.
@@RobespierreThePoof What Reality do you live!Where countless Civilians have been Killed, Displaced Or Starved 😮 Where Mosques,Churche's and Home's are Under Attack
😂
Do you mean the genocide of Christians and Jews in North Africa and the Middle East ?
Ireland 🇮🇪 rocks ❤
We love u IReland ❤ so much
Blessed Ireland 🇮🇪 supporting Palestine ❤🇦🇪
Funny how America has funded the IRA and Azov, but have a problem with Hamas? Ireland might have one point felt occupied and have fought for their freedom, and independence like Palestinians. Why do South Africa support Palestine. The oppressed do united. Mandela supported Fidel Castrol, Gaddadi and Arafat, he knew what imperalism was.
The Irish have a powerful political voice in the US. There are 40 million yanks with Irish roots. Unfortunately, Oalastinians have no voice in the US, hence the lack of support over there.
Americans never funded the IRA, Irish-Americans did.
@@stephendoherty981Israel also has a very powerful political voice through AIPAC.
I wonder how the Jewish South Africans would feel about their stand, considering how many of them fought for Mandela.
@@imisstoronto3121 Many Jewish people are anti-Zionists.
Ireland voted for the formation of Israel in 1947 at the UN vote. If Israel is a coloniser state then they're responsible.
😂 so they aren’t anti semitic then ???
Just to let you know Ireland got full independence becoming the Republic of Ireland in 1949. In 1947 Ireland was still under British rule.
Wait I thought we were anti jew nazis
Oh no wait we are the savior of Jews
Oh no we are inbred drunks who can't read
Either make up your mind or go back to shifting your mam
I live in america but i am soooo proud to be irish and i stand up and shout on behalf of the irish people here. FREE PALESTINE!!!
Free Palestine? Why not free Israel? Why would you betray your people? You know some Israelis are Irish, right?
Although both houses of the Irish parliament passed the motion to recognise the State of Palestine, the Government wishes to do this as part of a wider EU move, which has been criticised by Irish TDs. As of 2024, Ireland does not recognize the State of Palestine.
huge respect, love to Ireland for stand with helpless, voiceless, innocent Palestanians, specially children ♥️💕

Two simple reasons:
1. It is the right thing to do
2. Their politicians haven't been compromised, their foreign policies are made in Dubline, not Tel Aviv
