- Hey everyone! After shopping for hydroponic system kits I decided it would be cheaper and easier to build my own. Hopefully this will help if you are looking to build your own hydroponic system. This cost me $160 ($40/unit) for all of the parts and each additional unit will lower the overall cost per unit.

Make sure you rinse that Hydroton real good before adding it to the net pot.
Light entering through the opaque bucket will cause algae to grow, paint them black. Otherwise nice informative video👍🏻
and wash the clay first
I painted mine a reflective silver since I live in FL.
wash your clay pellets before setting them in your hydroponics system.
I agree he had some dirty brown water after just dumping them in.
I had so many pellets to wash I went and bought a cement mixer and converted into a clay washing machine 😊
Well broken down for step by step on how to get started. I greatly appreciate how you shared your insight and knowledge of the hydroponics. Keep up good work.
I got a hydroponic growing system for mother's day and have developed a mild obsession already. I have everything but the clay balls to set up a mini system with a giant coffee container, just some basil to start. If I have any success I'll step it up to this size.
I’m using the same air pump on my dwc set up, it was making my water to hot. So I added a 10’ line from the pump to the manifold to reduce the heat.
good call on the check valves i siphoned all my water through my pump...
Buckets should be black or spray painted black so as not to allow light in which can cause bacteria to grow and root rot
Does the root make it's way down to the water below?
I'm just starting to get into this... see if you can get the items locally. I find some of the items are the same price or more on Amazon.
How do you plan on draining this setup? How far do you have to fill the buckets? How do you planning on dealing with your future algae problem?
Those pumps are crazy loud. Swapped mine for much quieter whisper pumps
good work dude. Keep growing
keep air pump above water level or it could siphon bac if power fails!
the is what the check valve is for
@@aidenadams8676 IF those check valves actually work its still best to have the pump higher then the water level like already stated for the most security.
This is AMAZING. Thank you!
You can play this at x2 speed and understand all perfectly.
Thost buckets sure do let a lot of light in. Do you have issues with algae growth?
$40 a bucket that's pretty cheap but then you got to add that price to the price of your grow tent and your light setup
Thank you new friend God bless you
It's a good system, but I don't like how loud that pump is along with the bubbles rising to the top its not ideal, I am finding out because I live in a small place.
You did not p h the hydrogen with cal mag or you will have problems with plant health
How do they get nutrients?
Manually?
can you reuse those buckets tops
Yes. Clean away the roots, wash and dry. Ready to go.
What kind of water are u using
Very nice sir ☮🌱🤓🌍
You can purchase a pre built kit called root spa with the appropriate buckets and tubing for less and shipped to your door...the way the one in this video is done will cause nothing but problems..it was a nice effort though.
Can you place multiple net pods in the same container?
yes
You can find and buy lids with four net pots.
Or make ur own
These are not food grade. Buy the white buckets.
Black always black. White will cause allgy to grow due to the light getting in.
So loud!!
these types of air pumps generally make more noise. Best to use out in garage or greenhouse.
Useless
