- A great morning spent at Didcot Parkway on the Great Western Mainline where we see plenty of services from Great Western Railway, Cross Country and freight from DB Cargo UK and Freightliner.
Didcot Parkway was built and opened by the Great Western Railway in 1844. When First built the station was simpky known as Didcot. It wasn't until 1985 when British Rail renamed the station due to the then new bus link that was brought in. Thus making it a parkway station.
The town of Didcot owes is growth and success to the coming of the railway, as the same year as the station being opened the line towards Oxford was also opened. This allowed greater ease of access for passengers and freight alike which meant the local economy was able to grow which meant more people could move out of the louder areas of the country and move to a relatively small community. But this eventually became a sprawling town with markets a plenty and houses popping up all over the place.
There was another line that lived here before it closed. This was the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway. This line saw a connection from the Great Western Mainline down to Southampton via Newbury, Highclere, Winchester and Eastleigh. This line though finally saw the end of its life in 1962 just before the infamous Dr Beeching report saw the closure of hundreds of rural lines across the UK. Many of which are actually in the process of being brought back into working life.
There used to a regular commuter service running to Swindon from Didcot Parkway that would call at Steventon, Wantage Road, Challow, Uffington, Shrivenham and Stratton Park. This was run up until 1964 when the service was terminated. Which then resulted in the closure of those stations.
1985 saw the current station building opened along with a 600 space car park to make the station more accessible, it would also serve as an entrance for the Park and Ride buses to pull into which would also aim to take traffic off the city Centre roads.
My next station will be Bristol Temple Meads.

You say beggars can't be choosers and that might have been true! Was at Nottingham Station the next day after your two films from here and not forgetting the eventual Bristol Temple Meads judging by the description box below and somehow I got two Cross Country Voyagers and a pair of 150/2's for Northern! When the 150/2's replaced 195020 late on at Sheffield on a service to Leeds from Lincoln Central, them coming to Nottingham from Leeds was on the cards, so perhaps maybe a beggar was a chooser there and , surprise, surprise, the luck was on my side! Interesting to see the smaller containers on the freight train with the 66 with some empties in there as well! MSC clearly the winners there I think it must be said!
803 010 ??
I never knew they had 803 sets. XD
But it was still a fun vid to watch.
lol 800310 he means
Awesome video buddy from Alan Shelley

Didcot is where the IETs change from electric to diesel on route to Oxford
Excellent and no pigeons! You picked a glorious day for it.

Really enjoyed this video, can’t wait for the next one.
A very good video loved the freight train at the end there some nice tones in the video too weather has been really nice lately
Great video! Nice tones from those cucumbers and great catches of the special NHS and Pride liveries! Liked the 66 at the end too!
Great video. Also a pair of 50s went through Didcot Parkway a bit earlier that day
very good
Very nice video and great tones!
Brilliant video legend tornado I was enjoy watch your videos
Excellent railway video as always Tornado922
Didcot Parkway... Well, looks an incredible station to go to. Shame the Didcot Heritage Railway Centre shuttle train wasn't running but guessing it wasn't opened yet? Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff, Taunton and Penzance are the home for GWR Castle Sets. Rode one one between Newport and Weston-Super-Mare and to say the least, the HST's can still shift and can run at 110 MPH.
Great video! Awesome tones as well
Awesome 👍👍👍 bro
Great video at Didcot Parkway
At 18:01 that was 800310
I hope there wasn't a panda inside that container with the bamboo flooring Lol!
great video again i like didcot parkway mainly because of the surroundings also after crewe you said your next station was shrewsbury but then it was bletchley then the short video yesterday then now didcot parkway so i found that a bit weird. But anyway i love your videos and bye.
Great video mate 👍
I actually visited this station for the first time last week.
any cross country trains
When r u going to film at Shrewsbury station
The London Gateway to Avonmouth goes past my house most Saturdays. Any idea why it only seemingly loads 20 ft containers. Not the far more common 40 ft.
14:46 802109 stopped at a bad time.
Can you do Cheadle Hulme wcml
Fantastic video jarred I absolutely love ur videos.. will you be going to any preserved railways in the up coming months?

He is doing Bristol Temple Meeds next. But I gotta admit I do really want him to do Blackpool so hopefully he will do it soon.
