  • Here comes a film from my trip on the river Nissan in south of Sweden from this summer. Had arranged a few days off from the family to enjoy some paddling and camping on my own. It didn't turn out exactly as I imagined, but I was determined to carry out my plans.
Two nights in a hammock surrounded by beautiful nature and peaceful silence, just what I needed. But it was a challenging ride that took a toll on the strength. But the weather was pleasant, despite mosquitoes in abundance and some light rain during the first night.
I had been looking forward to some good solitude this summer. So I happily packed some extra stuff with me as these fit so easily in my MRS Microraft ISS (Internal Storage System). But already after about twenty meters I realized that this paddling would be different. There were fallen trees along the entire distance that I planned to paddle (something I might have anticipated?). And the water level was sometimes very low during certain some sections.
This meant that I needed to step in and out of the water countless times along the intended paddling distance to get past various obstacles along the way. So it was more hiking than paddling. Not quite ultimate as I only had my wet shoes with me. In addition, there were quite a few lacerations and flesh wounds on my legs and arms when I made my way along the river's edge.
But despite all the challenges and the fact that I had to carry both the packraft and my pack most of the way, it was an unforgettable and beautiful ride that I will remember for a long time to come.
