The Dacia Sandero Stepway and Logan remain true to the budget brand’s ‘no-frills’ ethos and have a pared-down safety specification. The basic, radar-only autonomous emergency braking system reacts only to other vehicles - soon a legal requirement - but it is not designed to prevent crashes with pedestrians or cyclists and there is no lane support. However, crash protection is respectable, with performance that would make the car a four-star performer if it were not for its shortcomings elsewhere.
“Safety has moved on”, says Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, “and the biggest strides forward are now being made by using high-tech to prevent accidents from happening. Clearly, Dacia have found their market and they’re sticking to it, but a two-star rating shows little ambition, even for a low-cost product. Their decision not to offer a camera clearly is out of step with the market and disappointing as Dacia are aware that their cars will soon have to comply with the new General Safety Regulation. Škoda and VW, on the other hand, show what can be achieved and Euro NCAP applaud them for offering their customers the highest level of safety.

Ncap: Car cannot fly to avoid pedestrians: 1Star
Why did Euroncap changed their notation style.... they shoud give two scores, one for physical security + airbag like before, the others for electronics security... Now people think that their 2000's 5 stars cars are better than this... but in reality it's not really the case...

It got only 2 stars because it doesn't have safety features such as traffic sign recognition, lane assist, EBA pedestrian, EBA bycicle, EBA reverse, dynamic cruise control and knee airbags. It's actually 4 stars downgraded to 2 stars and the experts admited the care is safe during collisions. My 2018 RAV4 which cost an arm and a leg, and got 5 stars in 2013, has the same features as the 2021 Sandero. Where's the justice in that?
Someday every car will need to fly and serve coffee to be able to have 5 star rating....
But as long as it protects me and my passengers , I wont care about that... Imprudent pedestrians should respect transit rules at first.

Obviously you have no f. clue. 1. Lane assist isnt necessary. 2. Knee airbagd arent necessary.

Funny part is that this ncap rating count for the new models with emergency brake and cruis controll, I drive a 2001 punto shitbag (4 ⭐ rated) and i can reed sign and keep driving straight without causing any accidents, why can't others? Like do you really need lane assist and shit ..

Euro Ncap said that it got only 2 stars because it lacks of some “high-end” safety features, the crash protection is respectable, with performance equivalent to 4 stars

That's actually quite good, especially the frontal impact. Probably low budget car without AI systems hence the poorer rating but the car otherwise superior to most cars from 5 years ago.
U can See that its better than last model, and the last ine got 4 Stars, New one that is better has 2 Stars. WOW LOGIC

Actually Crash Test rating is very good (4 stars), bad rating (2 stars) is only for safety assist features (like lane assist)
Which most people turn off because it is annoying.
We are at a point where every car is safe... you just need to have an extra wink gizmo to keep the inspectors happy.
It is a bad test.a test that looks the same for VW and Toyota. this in terms of crash test. the dacia gets 4 stars. the only thing the dacia scores poorly on are the driver assistance systems.
and these are heavier turns rather than passenger safety.
if men find these systems necessary and cannot drive without it, I wonder if you can drive a car, then you are not drivable and you must also hand in your driver's license.

Dacia has 4 Stars, if tested by old system. Because this model does not have tech which would make it more expensive, but marginally safer, it was given 2 stars. Pfff
Something needed to be done to limit Dacia sales. Here it is.
Totally biased result based on test criteria which have nothing to do with phisical protection.
EuroNcap are skewing public opinion by not presenting the results in such a way as to allow equivalent comparison with old test methods.

they should do separate ratings since if you took out all the electronics like aeb from a super safe car now it looks very unsafe

The name should be changed from "crash test" to " crash+aids for retarded drivers" test. I understand the safety side of the aids, however if the drivers were correctly educated, we would still do fine without the aids. Nice to have but not must to have to me.

I think the way nowadays these tests are scored are dangerous because of the false sense of safety. Before ABS people were more aware of the limitations of braking. Now we rely on technology. ABS is possibly very much contributing however lane assist can be absolutely dangerous. I cant get over the stupidity of it. Imagine a small country road in the Netherlands with bicycle striping on both sides. In most cases a car drives with those lines in the center of the car unless there is a cyclist obviously. Lane assist forces you to the middle of the road.
There are thiusands of such roads.

People i have a better car for you go for a dacia duster it is much bigger anc the crash test is exellent u can fit a lot in the boot i have a 4 wd and its amazing good seats very comfy the old one is much better in my opinion but the new one has a more better styling and seats are more comfy

In fairness, they're decent cars. They do their job for the price fairly well. But obviously on the tech side, it's lacking, hence the crash result. But I honestly think that this car would of got on the previous NCAP tests a 4 star min. Clearly the game has improved and so do the standards of vehicles in general.

You won't need any safety if you don't have any accident. But accidents happen, and if every car has lane assist, you are more safe.

This car is a dead trap
IT has only 2 stars because of stupid Europe Unions laws. ... car producers are forced to pitch cars with everythign what EU wants from table and this is result when some maker as Dacia did decent car without some camera which EU wants.... We can see how degraded are interiors of VW and other producers becaseu most cheapest models needs to have XY assists.... they have no budget for solid materials and prices of cars are still higher and higher due to this.... Dacia is overally good car with good performance for normal daily driver with his family ...

What a disappointment the result of Sandero's EuroNCAP test. Shameful in 2021 to take 2 stars, regardless of the analyzes made in detail. I don't know if they have changed the method of analysis or if it is a boycott, the fact is that with this evaluation the appeal of the car has dropped dramatically. Security is priceless and this will cost the brand sales dearly. I have always been a fan of Dacia but this result has disappointed and embarrassed me, the cars may have become more aesthetically pleasing, but if they do not keep up with the times there is little margin. Ergonomics are also always left in jeopardy and I speak as a former owner of the brand, safety and comfort are fundamental, he has lost a thousand points!
It "only" got two stars because EURO-NCAP changed their testing and scoring methods and now they award points for electronic assistance systems that would prevent accidents with cars and pedestrians and stuff like that. Mechanically speaking (and referring to the old grading system) the car has 4 stars, but only 2 when using the new one. So it's still a decent car.
People and Diacia fanboys stating that this is "good" have no f... clue. Please do those who think of buying that car a favor and stfu.
The Sandero didnt get 2 stars for nothing. It doesnt have the safety securitysystems that are obligation by EU law! (so NCAP didn't change anything. EU did.)
Dacia has NEVER in history received 5 stars. Only once it got 4 stars, and that one was pure luck. The passenger safety scores were always worse than most other cars. My Suzuki Swift from from 2017, that is still considered a death trap, scored 88% in Adult occupant, 75% child occupant, and 69 % in pedestrian. Due to missing safety standards it only got 25% in safety assist, rightfully so.
THAT is a rating that was actually worth 4 stars if you disregard safety assist.
The Dacia Sandero like most Dacias deserve their 2 star rating!
AM-NCPA and Latin American NCAP even tested worse results duebto built quality.
Dacia is not a safe car because it is cheaply built so most people can afford it. Deal with it.

How old is your Tipo? This Dacia would got 5 stars two or four years ago. If your Tipo is not a new model, he would get one star or less today. Nothing against Tipo it is a great car, but these tests are all about E safety, they want to make a car with sensors and radars for pedestrians, street lane, picku materinu ans a lot of more.
@@Penetratorcina Tipo got 4stars with safety pack (electric driving assists) and 3 stars without, it was tested in 2016. dont know if they stricted the testing since then again

Dacia sandero miała dobre wyniki jeżeli chodzi o bezpieczeństwo pasażerów 70 i 72 procent dla dorosłych i dzieci. 2 gwiazdki dostała tylko dlatego, że nie posiada zaawansowanych systemów bezpieczeństwa (lane assist, EBA opiera się tylko o radar i nie porównuje obrazu z kamery bo jej nie ma), oraz dlatego, że nie potrafił wykryć pieszych i rowerzystów (brak kamery). Normalnie miałby 4-5 gwiazdek.

But the protection of passengers and driver is not bad in them. The NCAP scoring changed and is greatly focused on electronic systems rather than mechanical protection. This car doesn't have a lot of electronic systems, idk... Autobraking, Lane asisting etc. That is why it has 2 stars. But in my opinion, in case it actually gets into a crash those electronic gizmos means less than that physcial protection. And those systems are to "prevent" you from getting into a crash

I saw dacias old and new how they end up , remember that is not at highway speed(130kph) tested . Id not buy a dacia at the 13500 € price they sell it (top range with all “features”). A i13 4 cyl 1.5 110bhp is 13k also . And a i20 1.2 4cyl 90hp is 8-9k and they are built a lot better . A dacia logan mcv at 8k is a good car but not these for this price . They used to be cheaper
