    Push into the ceiling around a/c, lights, vents, inside closets where there is a vent pipe and around windows. It it crackles or looks stained you may not want it unless you are really handy with construction tools and wood.

    Check the manufacturer date on the Tires!! The date code always starts with the letters DOT and ends with a 3 or 4 digit number. The first two numbers indicate the week of the year. (52 weeks in a year so that is the max) trailer tires should be done around 5-6 years and RV 7-10 years max. Also, check that spare! It may look in good shape, but could be twice as old as the rest.

    SOLID POINTERS. Thank you. But one thing you didn't mention specifically is the odor of mildew. Don't accept, "Well, it's been closed up for a long time and just needs to air out." Mildew can be harder to detect in the warm months. In winter, there's enough moisture in the air along with condensation for growth to be active and fragrant.

    • @tylernottayler
      @tylernottayler 2 месяца назад

      Dude… that was literally the second thing he mentioned

    • @grntchstrmdws
      @grntchstrmdws 2 месяца назад

      @@tylernottayler Literally the second item of concern he mentioned was roadworthiness. (The first was title.) After that he spent a long time talking about water damage. So, while mold and mildew is the consequence of water intrusion he never specifically referred to them. My point: water damage might not be VISIBLE. But you can certainly smell it. And under certain circumstances even the smell might not be immediately detectable. A seller might leave the windows open for a long time before a buyer shows up on a warm, breezy day. Everything looks great and smells of pine scented cleanser. Buyer drives it away and it isn't until he spends a cold night in it with the windows tightly closed that the odor of mildew makes itself known. Best bet: always have an RV inspected by a qualified person. I'd never buy an RV that had even the faintest whiff of mold. Finding it and removing it is very complex and expensive.

    Good way to check your tires is look for the DOT date codes it will read something like “3023” at the end. First two digits is for the week and last two are for the year they were made. Even if they aren’t old trailer tires can dry rot fast if the sat somewhere with sun exposure or on dirt. Less then 4 years is ideal.

    Idk what it was about your video, after watching dozens of others, but your short and sweet rundown was definitely nice in comparison to others and actually got me excited. Idk yay water damage lol planning on getting one by the weekend. No other choice. We will definitely be gutting a lot of things to customize as we like.

    Great advice! Rust can also be an indicator. Especially here close to the coast. A little bit is fine. But a lot is worry some. but that's with pretty much anything.

    Check the roof seals. Can be hard to see but I found (after purchase when switching out fans) that someone just put tons of sealant over old mildew and algae on original sealant. Can you say lazy?

    Before buying a used RV make shure you take it to the mechanic like Scotty Kilmer or Rick Smith and have the mechanics check it out to make shure its not wreck, flooded, or stolen and its been properly maintained, and if he says its good and running right, the go ahead and buy it.

    Quite a few RV owners have suggested, that when you find an RV that you have done a cursory review of and are really interested in buying, that you employee an experienced RV technician to inspect the entire RV top to bottom. My understanding is that a good thorough inspection, including test driving, takes about 4 hours and probably costs in the neighborhood of $300 to $400. It can save you thousands of $ and extreme heartache, either by not purchasing a unit that is in bad shape or by knowing what needs to be done and thus negotiating a final price if you do purchase. If an owner will not allow an inspection or if after the inspection they will not negotiate a reasonable price based upon what is found, then it's time to walk away. Better you lose a few dollars than be chained to a money pit for years where you got a piece of junk or you paid way too much for something that does need some work.

      What if the RV your buying Is $1250 ?

    • @FlaThunderstorm
      @FlaThunderstorm 4 года назад +1

      @@keithreinking6670
      It's not the $1,250 that is the concern. It's the many $1,250 figures that you have to put into it to make it travel worthy. More so to have an inspection done. I never take chances anymore with most things that I buy, especially if it's a big ticket item. I myself would never consider any motor home that is that cheap no matter how good it looks.

    Good vlog but...MOST important. DO NOT buy a used rv with "wood frame". ALL of them leak !!!
    Find one with a solid roof and alum frame. You will have far less problems from the get go.

    • @daredare890
      @daredare890 6 лет назад +3

      Hello sir, I am old school. my class a has a 1 piece alum unpainted roof Full Alum framed 12" centers. Welded Galv steel siding W/ real paint. No stickers graphics. My RV is retro 1986 SUPER WELL built Tiffin Allegro. For me... it is the way to go.

    Cutaway campers are the worst for water damage. I've been looking for a motorhome to replace my Jayco X19H and every cutaway I look at has damage above the cab.
