I was listening to this video at 4 30 am, as I unlocked the door to the bakery that I work in. When I entered the room I found that the kitchen staff the previous night had used my space and left an incredible mess. Equipment was dirty, counters and tables were covered with food, scattered utensils and ingredients all over the floor and the surfaces.. My initial reaction was rage. This is the second time in one week that I had discovered this upon coming in for my own shift. Following the practice of stoicism I paused and took deep breaths. Instead of raging and wasting my precious time in anger I gathered up the mess, took it into the kitchen and left it for them to deal with when they came in later. I took this chance to do a quick deep cleaning in the bakery and prepare myself for the long day ahead. I refuse to allow their inconsideration to affect my production. Today will be a great day because I will make it happen.

When I entered the room I found that the staff the previous night had used my space for a great party and left an incredible mess. Beds were dirty, counters and tables were covered with food, scattered utensils and ingredients all over the floor and the surfaces. My initial reaction was rage. , you are being honest that is an excellent start. Accepting you know your own traits and character means you can make a change if you need to. Show people you have issues those that can handle and accept those traits will stay, those that can't won't.

I’d left my RUclips on auto play when I fell asleep, and this video woke me up at 5am because the ideas that I thought I heard in my semi-conscious state resonated so much with how I wanted to live my life, that I woke myself up thinking that I gotta pay full attention to what is being said, but then I ended up falling asleep again at some point 😂 but at least I found the video again from my history so I can listen again to it’s entirety 😂

Hi there whoever hosts this. I wanted to thank you for sharing these principles. I am a Christian and having a practical approach to bettering myself as well as the theoretical & spiritual is incredible as a resource.
Since finding these videos, i have been able to cull a pornography addiction I’ve had for almost 2 decades. This addiction has taken a lot away from me including a marriage, my favourite pet and a feeling of self worth.
It’s not 100% over and done with, but I’ve definently had progression and now when I refresh myself I can go almost a whole week without it which is an absolutely incredible amount of progression. Everytime I stuff up I am easier on myself now and remind myself it is not failure to stuff up, just a bump on the road to freedom from impulses and bad habits.
    Thank you so much.

Stoicism is truly a compass for navigating life’s chaos. Taking control of our lives doesn’t mean controlling everything around us, but mastering our inner world-our thoughts, reactions, and priorities. The wisdom of Stoicism teaches us to focus on what we can change and let go of what we cannot, empowering us to act with clarity, purpose, and strength. A life of discipline and self-control is a life of true freedom. 💡🔥

“What stands in the way becomes the way” is a Stoic principle, meaning that obstacles are not just challenges to overcome but opportunities for growth. Instead of avoiding difficulties, we can embrace them and use them as stepping stones to become stronger and wiser. It’s about seeing adversity as a path to success.

Most of the advice is great but around 1:45:00 that advice about forming groups is impractical and theoretical. In theory it's a way to meet people but you may be surprised how many people join groups to do the thing the group is doing and not to make friends and aren't responsive to that. Also, have you ever formed a group that stood the test of time? I 've never been in a "we all like X, let's form a club and meet every Thursday and do it!" that by the 4th week only the person whose idea it was the only person who still was showing up.

I have no family and am 60. I have no one at all. Most of my family are dead and there are a few who Ill never ever speak to again...theyre evil horrible individuals. However...im reasonably happy. I have a cat and a small flat and i really do hope i die early. My mother died age 67, my grandmother 62 and grandfather 66.
    Life is far too long.
