  • In this video I discuss what makes the Husqvarna 701 Enduro the perfect dual sport bike for someone who will be using it as their primary means of transportation. From going to work/school, to the grocery store and even hitting the occasional trails while on the way to do whatever it is you are doing, the Husky 701 is perfect for someone who is only going to have one vehicle, and that vehicle is a motorcycle. Please drop any comments, thoughts or suggestions in the comments section and let me know what you think.

I went through a rough financial patch a few years ago and my 701 was my only mode of transport for over a year. It was perfect for daily, city work. Still have it and love it more everyday!

Well damn, I’m glad you have recovered from that and super glad you were able to hang on to the Husky. Such a great bike.

My son and I ride year round in California. During the winter months, we tend not to offroad and prefer street biased tires. We highly recommend Pirelli Scorpion Trail ii dual sport tires for anybody who wants near super moto handling and tires that last 6,000+ miles. It's easy enough to go back to mount the knobbies when we are ready to hit the trails, and we love the street performance while commuting. It completely changed the bikes feel beyond expectations.

I’ve heard good thing about the Scorpion tires. Think I’ll give them a try.

Thanks for answering my questions yesterday. I think I didnt have the traction control settings correct so that would explain why it didnt wheelie. Will probably be picking one up next year after all. I live an hour of highway from the closest single track and my daily is a Norden 901, but I think the 701 will be perfect for weekend woods riding and occasional commuting. Had my reservations about their reliability but I have put 6,300 miles on my Norden since June 1st and its been trouble free aside from some weeping hose clamps. Cheers!

27:34 are you sure your stock front sprocket was 16? SM has 16/42 and Enduro has 15/46. I have '22 model and changed 15/46 to 14/48. Great bike over all :)

What swayed you to go Arrow exhaust vs full Tekmo?

That's a great question. I had initially went with a full Arrow set up, titanium head pipe and muffler. I failed to do my research though because I also bought the PC VI and Dyno Auto Tune. The auto tune comes with a replacement O2 sensor that has a 12 mm thread and the stock system, and the Arrow replacement head pipe, are 8mm threads. I didn't want to have to cut and weld another bung in the new pipe so I bought the Tekmo head pipe, which comes with a 12 mm threaded bung in the bend in the pipe, along with an 8 mm adaptor for those who are using the stock O2 sensor. Truth be told, I'm perfectly happy with the combination.

I went down a tooth in front, removed ox sensor, & added Rottweiler fuel dongle to enhance bottom end. (Wings exh)

Do you find that made a good difference?

It’s not perfect but a massive improvement off throttle. I still get about 55 mpg.

You had me until you said the DR wasn’t fun to ride

Well nothing personal, I b just tend to like the more aggressive and zippy bikes. I know the DR is a fantastic and reliable bike with millions of miles on that platform. I owned a KLR for about 3 days before I took it back and traded for the 701. Both the DR and KLR bikes have an outstanding reputation for reliability and have probably been to more places on earth than all the other bikes combined, they just aren’t my cup of tea.
