I'd highly suggest having a trailer on your fly, like a small nymph, very surprising how many times they'll go for the trailer!

pink salmon puff balls you can buy at the store rips their faces off. also, if trout are out of water for over three seconds they’ll sadly die in a couple days of being caught.
