Any idea why the car would cut out under hard acceleration? If I switch the car off and back on, it reconnects but same thing happens again under acceleration. Ad infinitum...
So where did you put the battery? I used a 650mah battery and it had to be strapped onto the top of the hood. It wouldn't fit under the body. In your last shot of the video you show holding the car with the body on it.
In the video I used a 800mah battery, because I planned on putting FPV on it, and taking of the hood. Because when your driving FPV you wouldn't see the car, But, nowadays I use a 250mah battery and get about 30mins of runtime, and barely able to put the hood on. :)
This buggy still holding together for you ? You can do another mod for some more speed using a 7x20mm motor instead of the stock 7x17mm motor, gives a bit more top speed & acceleration, will need too melt some plastic on the rear motor casing but otherwise works great. Used one from my old hubsan h107l quadcopter here on my tomy gx buggy, fast enough so that i actually broke the lexan steering arm on the left side slamming into a pipe in the basement.
Actually, I still have it! This little buggy can really go through a world of abuse and keep going. A friend of mine actually did this mod, but, he said the drive time was fairly short. But who knows, maybe when i'm board or something I might have to try it. Thanks! :)
Before I uploaded the video it was fine, but, for some odd reason, when I uploaded it did something to it. Sorry about that. Ever since then I check my videos twice. :)
I gave your video a a like but I find the mod pretty useless. I bought it pretty much because I love the looks of it as it's a micro original RC10. The performance is pretty poor on it compared to some other micro vehicles, especially the older Losi's and the newer WLToys. I wouldn't go to all this trouble just to charge the battery from a charger rather than from the controller. If I were taking that far apart then I would probably just gut it for better electronics capable of 2S.
Well, It's good for using multiple batteries so that you can drive however long you want to. Also, batteries that size are so cheap and easy to find. however like you said It does take the simplicity of charging away from it, but you can buy a bunch of batteries and drive all day long. Thanks Driver86stig for the great comment, and the like! :)
These are basic entry level hobby units. The hobby is about making it what you want. If you find a mod that allows you the option to use any battery you want useless, then this isnt the hobby for you. No disrespect intended. I get 2 straight hours of run time on the sc28/RC28T with a low voltage 1200mah 1s. Put a high voltage 1s in and its like NOS. If you want to go even faster, add a good 8520 motor or just step up the power source to 5v. Do both if you want truly insane. I am sad to see your reply as I feel you've been neglected the true meaning of the hobby. I cruise long range for many hours using fpv gear on these units. Wish you could enjoy it too but I understand. To each their own. Remember, 2 straight hours of FPV cruising on a 1200MAH 1s. Seems pretty useful to me.
Nice battery MOD. Setting up for FPV driving is great ;-) Happy Driving!
Ground Control RC, Thanks! :)
Thanks bud! I’ll be modding mine and my sons car with ease now.

Btw the music is double lapping.
Nice video. Great step by step explanation and a good mod for longer run times or multiple batteries!
Thanks Todd Henry! :)
Great video.

What's a decent performing mini these days?

You completely missed the bonus of this mod, lol.
