    Apologies I don't think I pronounced the channel I seen this on correctly, it was "Mr Brightfryed"

    I have this and I have used for a few months and it’s been working great. Thanks for the review and set up info because I lost my manual and my hubby messed with the buttons so I wasn’t sure I was setting delay thing right or not. You were a big help. I use mine for a heat lamp for brooding birds. Handy things with a variety of uses honestly. I will use mine for greenhouse heat mat as well when I don’t need for brooding any more. Would have loved to have this when I had fish. Scary how often it seems heaters can malfunction nowadays. Subscribed because you did a lovely job and who knows.. someday may get fish again. Always enjoy watching and learning.

      Glad you found it useful 😁 yeah I've never had it happen myself but glad I have this now just to make sure nothing fails on, would be devastating to loose everything, thank you for watching! 😁

    Great video mate 👍. I like the double layer of protection on the heater controller provides. Nice to see you have plenty of frags on the go. 🤩

      Thanks mate, its ideal I run 2x50w heaters instead of a 100w but 1 of them trying to cool my livestock doesn't bear thinking about!
      Jay those frags are all ones I've bought and just show my lack of coral placement commitment! 🙈😂 need to get those zoa gardens started soon now I have plenty! 😁 thanks for watching mate! 👍

    I was just looking at this on Amazon, nice review. Nice backup to stop faulty heaters boiling aquariums

      Yeah it's pretty simple to be honest but also does the job nicely! 👍
      Couple of people have asked and he one downfall is no audible alarm, but could easily mount it so it's clearly visible in your shed, saves your a lot if you have 5 or 6 controllers to buy as well!
      Thanks for watching! Much appreciated! 😁

    Thanks for explaining this! can't make headnortail of the instructions! I lived in Edinburgh for 6 years and the sun shone for about a week in total :)

      Haha yeah we don't get the best weather sometimes but we've done well this year for a change! Thanks for watching!

    Brilliant video mate, nice and simple bit of kit! Seems to do the job anyway, what alarms does it have?

    • @PracticalReefer
      @PracticalReefer  2 года назад

      Yeah really simple, I did reduce the variance to 0.2°C though so it pops the heaters on a 25.3°C and sits steady at 25 so does the job nicely 👍
      No actually it doesn't have any alarms tested it popping the probe in a glass or hot water then cold for a few minutes each, maybe not ideal for a sump situation, but mine is on my desk and I see the display multiple times a day, but would likely go for the D-D or Inkbird for a bigger tank especially if the controller is in a cabinet I would say.

    So would this stop a heat bulb getting too hot?

  • @DadHD
    @DadHD 2 года назад +1

    Nice and simple. Does it alarm if it drops below a certain temp?

    • @PracticalReefer
      @PracticalReefer  2 года назад +1

      Asking the right questions!
      So did a little experiment with a glass of hot and cold water for a few minutes each and no audible alarm, just gives the read out on the screen and controls the heater, interesting point that! Although guarantee I'll be making a whining noise before the tank if it gets that hot! 😂

    May I know how exactly does the temperature controller, control the heater? From what i can see, the temperature controller only has 2 wires: 1 for the thermometer and 1 to plug it into an outlet. Is there some third wire to plug into the heater too?

    • @PracticalReefer
      @PracticalReefer  Год назад

      Hi, yes the heater plugs into the controller itself so when the probe detects the temperature is too high the controller cuts power to the heater itself then it turns back on once the temp is back at the normal range, the heaters have thermostats as well so they should really do the job but if they fail the controller will make sure they don't stay on and overheat the tank 🤞 thanks for watching 😁

    I'm so annoyed 😂 The instructions for this were RIDICULOUS. They expected me to know terms that as a beginner I was utterly baffled by.
    I watch your video and it's so simple I could scream. WHY on earth didn't they just SAY that?
    Thank you so much, you've saved me! And my spider thanks you too!

    Hi mate I have one of these. I’m trying to keep a stable temp between 25/25.5. I think my diff and delay settings are wrong. I have them at 10 second delay and 0.3/0.4 diff do you have a better setting to keep it more stable please ?

    • @LeeS-wk9vc
      @LeeS-wk9vc Год назад

      Sorry I have it 0.5 and 10 second delay

    • @LeeS-wk9vc
      @LeeS-wk9vc Год назад

      It keeps dropping to about 24.9 and kicking back in on and off etc

    • @PracticalReefer
      @PracticalReefer  Год назад

      Mine is at 25.5° then put it at 0.3 difference and 30 second delay to reduce the number of times the heaters are switching on and off, I'm not worrying about 0.5 degree either way.
      So if mine hits 25.2 the heater will come on and that seems to work well 90% of the time it's right on target except when it was really hot recently went up a degree or 2 but everything was fine.
      I'd maybe try a smaller difference but wouldn't go too narrow 0.3 worked fine for me, let me know how you get on 👍

      Hi, I just use 2x50w heaters on this controller for my 90L tank, but it can actually handle up to 1100w! Thanks for watching 😁
