      @J M very do able. Take your time, follow the diagrams in both booklets and use nice tools. I did it over a whole day, which worked quite well for me given where I put it.

    I have the CTEK DS250SE with Smart Pass installed one my trailer and was wondering if I could use the RedVision with this?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад

      Thanks for the message, Shane.
      Redvision is independent from the charger which means you can use both systems. However, battery management information is only available when RedVision is paired with The Manager30. If this is required then upgrading your existing system to the TVMSKIT05 is recommended.

    Hi I like the redvision but what I have read on your web site you can only use up to a 40amp bcdc charger is that correct as I’d like to run your bcdc 1250d or maybe even dual bcdc

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  2 года назад +1

      Hi Wazhe, thanks for your comment. If wanting to connect in the BCDC directly to the Distribution Box, then yes it can only support up to 40A on that circuit and has a 50A MIDI fuse installed there to protect it. You can still use the BCDC1250D (or more together in parallel) if wanting to, they need to be directly connected to the Battery instead, not using the Distribution box connectors. To find out more please give our Tech Support Team a call and they'll be happy to advise in greater detail over the phone.

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад +1

      Hi Leon, Thanks for your message. Whilst we don’t sell these sensors or connectors, the company we usually recommend is RV Electronics. But any sort of 2-5 pin tank sender is fine. The more pins, the finer the detail of the levels will be. (A two pin sensor will show you either empty or full, whereas a 5 pin one will show you full, ¾, ½, ¼, etc)

    What size neg cable did you use from the gnd side of the sensor to the distribution box and charger to distribution box?
    Do I use a 0 or 2 awg from the neg side of the aux battery to the bneg side of the sensor?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад

      Hi Josh, thanks for watching! The negative from the sensor to the distribution box should be 6 B&S if under 3m, or 4 B&S if over 3m. The cable from the auxiliary battery negative terminal to the “BNEG” side of the sensor must be large enough to handle the current of all loads/inputs at once. If you have any further questions please feel free to speak to one of our Tech Experts in our head office.

      Thanks for your help.
      Would prefer midi fuses or circuit breakers on your systems?
      What current rated fuses/circuit breakers would you recommend to go from the start battery to a manager 30 and from the aux battery to the manager 30?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад +1

      @@joshradoll5126 Redvision is supplied with the 80A Midi Fuse required for the power supply to the Distribution Box, and has a in-built 50A Midi fuse for the Manager30 output circuit.
      For the Manager30 input circuit a 50A Midi fuse is also recommended, as we find the quality of circuit breakers to be mostly sub-standard - they tend to trip before reaching their rated current due to being a thermal protection device, and also have a tendency to introduce voltage drop into a circuit.

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад +1

      Hi Alex,
      The water level sender shown in the video is an RV Electronics Water Level Sender.
      They can supply a Sender with a 2.5m, 5m, and 7.5m probe lead, which you can find here: rvelectronics.com.au/product-category/rv-water-level-indicators/

    what size lugs and heat shrink do we need?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад

      We recommend using cable sizes between 8 B&S/AWG and 4 B&S/AWG, depending on the length being used. Up to 3m, we recommend 8 or 6 B&S and over 3m, upgrade to 4 B&S. I would buy lugs/connectors and heatshrink to suit these sizes appropriately

    Q: Can you connect any aftermarket inverter to this system.?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching, Leon.
      The RedVision system has only been tested with our range of inverters, so would be unable to advise if another brand would work correctly on the communications side.
      If the unit has perhaps an Enable pinouts/Remote Control terminal on the back of it, you could wire this into one of the channels on RedVision to activate it this way.
      If you have further questions please feel free to contact our friendly Tech Support Team.

    I noticed on your video the inverter negative is connected to the ground stud of the battery negative shunt. The shunt shows a rating of 300amp. What happens when you hook up a 3000w inverter to the shunt ground side that can draw 450 amps? Will it damage the shunt?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад

      Hi Matthew,
      A 3000W inverter would be required to run continuously at 10V to exceed 300A - all REDARC inverters have a low voltage cut-out preventing them from dropping your battery this low, and most other inverters will have a similar feature.
      Whilst an inverter does usually have a peak of almost double the 3000W continuous rating, this one-second maximum peak is also allowed for in the shunt rating, as it is rated to 300A continuous current.

    Can you connect 2x30amp circuits to run a 50amp air compressor?

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  3 года назад +1

      Ideally it is best to use one of either the 10A or 30A channels and use it to trigger a relay, which would then drive the compressor. This is the setup we use for our ARB Compressors in our REDARC Hilux’s.

    • @RoamOverlanding
      @RoamOverlanding 2 года назад

      @@REDARCElectronics Is the 30A channel suffiicient for the Single High Output compressor from ARB? It claims to be a 28A peak. Wondering if its even worth wiring it up or just running it straight from the cranking battery up front

    • @REDARCElectronics
      @REDARCElectronics  2 года назад +1

      @@RoamOverlanding it would depend what the compressor is normally fused at. If it is something like a 40A fuse fitted to the input wiring, it might mean the compressor may spike a bit, which wouldn’t be ideal for RedVision and might damage that circuit. Start battery is a good option and use the relay trigger connection as mentioned above.
