- Skylanders Superchargers is the fifth installment in the toy-to-life franchise. Skylanders Superchargers keeps the same formula, but adds in supercharged vehicles into the mix. The game is kid friendly for sure, but it's still fun for any age. The animation on the cutscenes is excellent, sometimes feeling like a Pixar movie. As always, we included relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoyed!
The games setting is a place called Skylands, a realm filled with magic and floating islands. Using their magical powers and machinery, the Skylanders defended their world for generations from various threats. For generations, the Skylanders worked with the Portal Masters in keeping peace and balance in their world, battling the forces of darkness, and protecting the Core of Light. The Skylanders have an unbreakable bond with their Portal Masters. Though they are not servants, the Skylanders chose to serve their Portal Master and do so eagerly. Each Skylander is associated with one of the ten elements of Skylands: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Magic, Tech, Life, Undead, Light, or Dark.

I think the reason I love the story of this game so much more than the others is that Kaos actually would have succeeded if he hadn't betrayed the Darkness. For the first time in 5 games, he would have been victorious over the Skylanders, and it actually felt like we could have failed, giving real weight to the story. I also really like the animation style of this game, specifically for Kaos. It also shows that while Kaos may have the wrong intentions, he has good in him. While his main goal is to conquer Skylands, he wants to rule it... not destroy it. He also didn't want to kill our companions; he merely captured them, when he could have easily killed them. And of course, Glumshanks is the most wholesome character in the series, and he finally got to feel like a part of a team rather than a servant. Frankly, this game was the perfect ending to the series: The Darkness is vanquished, Kaos has turned good (sort of), and all is well.
Then Imaginators comes, and kind of ruins it. Now: I did enjoy the idea of having Skylanders introduced in the SA and Giants as NPCs, but the story just felt wrong to me. It felt like everything in the previous game had just been overwritten. I know Kaos said "Until I get my powers back" in Superchargers, but I really liked the idea that he isn't actually a completely evil character. He has a flawed perception, but he isn't truly evil. But in Imaginators, he's completely reverted back to how he was, with the only difference being he doesn't use the power of the Darkness, and uses the new Mind Magic. I also hated the Brain; he was just obnoxious, and the fact that he was made a Skylander Academy Professor just annoyed the hell out of me. And in the end, Kaos AND GLUMSHANKS get stuffed in the jar for supposedly an eternity, even after being heroes in the last game. Like, at least let Glumshanks be free and act as the caretaker of the jar. That way he still "serves" Kaos, but also isn't subjected to his punishment, since Glumshanks doesn't really participate in the evil-doings of Kaos.
But while that would be a better ending than what we got, here's how I'd actually remedy Imaginators: Rather than making Kaos the villain for the 6th time in a row, let him remain as the Ultimate Evil Consultant of Ultimate Evil. Instead, make a new villain... a servant of the Darkness set on letting it back into Skylands. The story could even be basically the same as it is, but instead of it being Kaos trying to find a way to take Skylands without the Darkness, it'd be this Dark Servant using Mind Magic to bring the Darkness back. This raises the stakes beyond what they were even in this game, because not only would the one being in the Universe that actually brought us to our knees be unleashed again, but the one helping the Darkness would have no qualms with destroying Skylands once and for all. Maybe even instead of the Brain betraying Kaos, it'd be the Dark Servant betraying the Brain as the Darkness is let back into Skylands. Then, we'd have to fight the Dark Servant alongside the Darkness, and send it back through once more.

True! I agree with this. Also kinda sucks guys like Strykore are stuck as Skylanders Academy threats (Non canon, I think), they could’ve worked perfectly for Imaginators. Especially Strykore (Non canon villain, but his whole title and story is cool asf).
Does feel like Imaginators felt a lil too...weird. I am pretty sure that game fits more within the Academy timeline, especially with Spyro and all. However...
The game is also part of the main timeline. So, Idfk. Also, seems as though there is a book in between Superchargers and Imaginators that explains Kaos being evil. Still weird tho, as I feel this should’ve been explained in game.
At this point, I'm inclined to believe that Imaginators is a sort of timeline split: in one timeline we get Superchargers, and in the other we get Imaginators. And I know which one I prefer
I pretty much don’t count imaginations as cannon, while I personally like the game on a gameplay setting, the story was just an excuse to promote skylanders academy.
speaking of the darkness. he was a great villain. infact i also think he is very similar character to unicron from transformers. here me out. villain calls the name of other villain. tells them what they require. have the villain as there minion. gives them specific orders. villain double crosses other bigger villain. said villain comes back revealing there true form. eventually gets destroyed/ sent away

FOR REAL- he deserved better, man. And Kaos deserved to start a (sort of) redemption arc as our Ultimate Evil Consultant. Genuinely would've loved to have him giving us advice in his Kaos-y way.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Was actually a lot of fun to watch. I've never given Skylanders a chance before.
+Cartoons Cartoons You should. The games are very fun, and although this one puts more focus on vehicles than its staple dungeon-crawling style, it's still really fun and has a lot of replay value. I would try the other ones too (the first 2 don't have jumping though) if you want a more traditional gameplay style, but like I said this one is the cheapest and most expansive game by far.

It's so sad. That's why this game has the best story. It's one of those stories where the heroes are like outcasts, hiding from the evil empire, the game was long enough to have a good story too. I hope that if there was so.ehow another Skylander game, then I would want a game with a story as deep and as good as this one. All Activision needs to do to make a really good game is more time for development on gameplay and the unique mechanics, the story, and finally, the Skylanders themselves. If another game was made, I would want them to have the original styled elemental bases instead of the bland Imaginator bases, some of the older Skylanders returning like Spyro, Stealth Elf, Pop Fizz, etc. and all having new appearences. Like how Swap Force made new variations of already existing Skylanders. And, if they brought back Spyro, maybe have him look like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy version. Then, what I wonder is if Kaos will ever try to take over Earth. I can just imagine there being instead of an imaginator, why not make a custom Portal Master that you can make. I can see the Earth is being destroyed by Kaos and he is using the true power of the Darkness. Skylander and Portal Master, standing side-by-side, willing to risk their lives to fight against Kaos for the protection and safety of Skylands and Earth once for all. Ring of Heroes did it right with having a Portal Master from Earth. Just make a figure that summons the Portal Master as a playable character in the starter pack. The story starts similar to how Ring of Heroes starts. A Portal Master is brought to Skylands from Earth and is given strong elemental powers.
