@@karenmbbaxter problem is country councils are dominated by local property investors, so whenever councils in the country confiscate local homes due to unpaid back taxes / land rates, instead of using them to encourage new people to the town, they are bulldozed to stop oversupply. This explains all the big gaps between houses in many country towns, often in old neighbourhoods. Sometimes you see old streets with no houses left in them but 1 or 2. This is common in country town across Oz. Talk about killing themselves through short-termism

@brahmaistrash.indiaisatoil5292 Sounds like you need a history lesson, mate. plenty of videos out there you can watch to educate yourself.
      But basically.
It started because the USA got its independence so the UK needed a new place to start sending its prisoners, due to the hard life many people were sentence to long periods in jail just for stealing bread or sheep to eat / for there families ect, life was hard back then.
They didn't really invaded the aboriginal population of Australia was quite small estimated at most to be 3 million and a minimum of 500,000.
Most were small tribe's the biggest in the eastern parts of Australia maybe 200 individual, there estimated Australia had over 250 different languages and within that at least 4 different versions of each language, so diverse many couldn't understand each other even if they were part of the same group originally.
Modern migration isn't the same, your talking about a stone age people getting brought to the modern age, vs now a modern nation / nations taking in large groups of people from nations with large social issues that many of there children bring to the new nation yet the families ran away from people like that in there own nation originally, not to say it's all but it's a significant number, large scale R# is happening in European nations due to the fact they letting in people who shouldn't be aloud in, even nations like Finland who were exstreamly homogenise are now facing large organised crime due to this, and social problems that they never had.
But anyway if you resurched the subject you would understand the problems which is why many people have a problem with it obviously.

People are dumpster diving for food, all the while politicians and same for those who work in overseas consulates go from banquet to banquet in luxury hotels. I've seen them. They live it up while Aussies who can neither find nor afford sky high rent, are living in tents at local parks. Shame on them! If they can find billions for Ukraine & other foreign aide, then that means they can easily help the poor in Australia. Effortlessly too. And Aussies ought to come first.

The simple reality is that we are in the same dire situation as Canada, NZ, South Korea and a host of European nations - couples simply don't have 5 or more new taxpayers every generation. Albo seems to be living under the delusion that new arrivals will work 3 jobs to be able to afford a house in 'burbs where they can start pumping out kids - I get that he did it tough in Marrickville growing up but the Canberra bubble appears to have taken over. Surprised to see South Africa and the US so high on the list - not because I doubt that anyone wants to escape those countries, but I don't hear either accent on a daily basis. Sure, there will inevitably be thousands in Sydney and Melbourne. but that isn't where Australia NEEDS people - save the bush before it's too late, Albo.
Edit : forgot to mention Singapore, where Big Brother had to run a TV campaign urging couples to get busy. I'm no longer confident that we won't see the same thing here.

These are not generally poor people coming to Australia! There is a net increase in jobs created, with many (maybe most) of these people buying housing, not renting! Many are also investing money, not taking the dole money! Many employers cannot get Australians to do certain jobs anymore, because the work is difficult, the environment tough and the pay is seen as too low! These employers need immigration to remain steady or they will fold up!
The reality is that the housing market has been distorted for years by a combination of poor regulations that make renting out a property very unattractive, Airbnb, negative gearing and the lack of tradesmen to build new properties! To solve these problems regulations need to be much tougher, so renters care about other people’s houses and apartments like their own! Airbnb has to be restricted by numbers each year! Finally tradesmen must be financially encouraged to take and keep apprentices to full terms of their contracts, before receiving generous bonuses! Negative gearing needs to be scrapped completely despite being politically popular, for the rich with multiple houses, it is destructive to society in the long term! After solving those problems we can look at immigration numbers and we will probably still see that we are not getting enough!
