- If the night time or caves weren't already scary enough, the descent into madness mod adds a sanity meter to the game which slowly depletes when your Minecraft character does things that scare them- like battle mobs, go in the dark or Get Struck By Lightning. As the sanity bar descends, strange noises start happening around you and your vision blurs- until eventually, haunting monsters begin appearing, staring at you from afar. And when your sanity finally hits zero, they will start CHASING YOU AND ATTACKING YOU :( Ouch!! Eeeyikes!!

this sanity mechanic was taken from Don't Starve, it's the same:
you're near an enemy = insanity
you ate something bad = insanity
you're in the dark = insanity
you sleep = sanity
garland = sanity
good food = sanity
and so on
even the whole "worms" overlay as squiddo called it is the same
also in Don't Starve shadow creatures appear when you're insane as well
I mean that is also what it’s like to go insane in real life, Don’t Starve replicated it after IRL ways you damage your mental health
@@screenedat0m yeah but even the "Sneaking Terror" name is similar to don't starve's "Crawling Horror"
Plus the whole regaining sanity after gaining new knowledge (in Don't Starve this only applies when making something new, this mod is doing roughly the same thing with the achievements adding sanity, no idea if this is absolute I'm like barely 2-3 minutes in)
That being said I don't remember if this was a mechanic in the original Don't Starve or Don't Starve Together, I just haven't played either in a long time
Honestly tho I think the mod is really cool, I just kinda wish the people covering it would at least mention the source material or something

the side order music was a really nice touch adding to the atmosphere and unease of the vidoe.
it also gave me flashbacks threw my first few run of side order. making it scarier

1:35 - Flower garlands *do* work to restore my sanity IRL. Finals week isn’t usually too bad for me, but one year I left a big project until the last minute and I had to work nonstop all weekend. I took occasional breaks to pick dandelions outside my dorm, and I swear it’s the only thing that kept me from losing my mind.

Sanity mod is like the dweller mods, the sneaking terror (I think) is its own dweller mod, dwellers are creatures, you can experience the, yourself in Minecraft mod apps, like curseforge, also, if you download the dweller mods, make sure to add “In The Fog” mod, or something
