Within the last hour and 1/2, I was informed about a bad coil pack on my 2001 Ford Focus SE wagon with the 2L DOHC Zetec engine. TTTG, your video clearly explains the ease of changing the item along with providing some sources to buy. I'll be changing the coil pack upon receipt of the same. Thanks for the video presentation. I've thumbed you up and will provide more gratitude post-installation.
Great video... thanks for telling us the screws were T25.. saved me. I was on a trip, and didnt have my tools with me. I went to store and bought exactly what I needed. Great video
Worked perfect on my 03 focus SOHC. One thing extra i did was replace the plugs and wires while i was right there.
Thanks a lot! You helped me to solve by myself
I did this today on my winter car 01 focus SE with the old escort 1.9L. Ford just bored it out to 2.0L SOHC 8valve, the same coil, but mounted perpendicular to this one. cylinder #2 was coding as misfire. Anyway the old one had cracks and would cause the engine to sputter in wet conditions or warm to cold, or cold to warm outside temperature conditions. Let’s see how long it will last.
Thanks to your youtube vid ive just mangaed to replace my coil pack on my mk1 focus, the only tricky bit was removing the cable connection on the side of the coil pack, i found by just pushing down on the metal piece it then releases the cable connector.
Yeah, that's the easier and correct way to disconnect it. Found out I did it the hard way after doing the video haha.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy when i got to the part where i had to pull the cable out i was getting stressed thinking whats going on here haha but after just pushing the metal strip in it released.
Thank you great video
More or less similar to mine. An 08 uk focus. Thanks for the video
You don't pull up or remove the metal clip to unplug the wires. You simply squeeze it down and it will release the plug. It is much easier than what you did.
Yeah I found that out after the fact 😂
Thanks

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. How I can know that my coil pack needs to be changed?
If you are getting misfire codes but your spark plugs and wires are good, this is likely the issue.
Tony The Truck Guy thank you so much. Actually theres no code on the dashboard or misfire. But sometimes the engine does a little shake. You can feel it when you stop on the traffic light. I changed the spark but still doing this. Thanks again
Hmm. Just occasionally? 4 cylinder engines usually aren’t as smooth as a v6 or v8 and small things like the a/c compressor kicking in can cause the idle to surge a bit. I guess I wouldn’t worry too much of it’s not a severe shake and no engine light.
Tony The Truck Guy Actually thanks so much for your help and advice. All the best Tony have a good one.
I am trying to change the plugs, leads and coil on my fiesta. every video i see has the metal clip on the plug to the coil, mine doesnt. Ive tried just pulling it off but no luck. any ideas how i unplug this?
I would have to see a good picture of the connector. Would you be able to post a pic to my FB or email it to me?
What was the code your car throw ? What symptoms were you dealing with ? My gf it’s shaking and makes a pop sound misfire type from the engine it almost sounds like when you try to get going the code was a P0316 and I’ve change the crank sensor and spark plugs seemed better but the jerking was still there now it’s getting worse
Can’t remember the exact code but it was some sort of misfire code. If this doesn’t fix your issue then the only thing left I can think of would be cam sensor
Thanks man thats what I was thinking to do first then see what happens
Hi Tony. I got ford focus. I ineed the coil part. Its not available in my country . How can I got it from US. Is there a particular websites in the internet ?
Offer it
You should be able to order it off of Napa auto parts, O’reilly auto parts, Rock Auto, eBay, Amazon, etc. Just search the part number. Amazon an eBay are most likely to ship to another country.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy thank you man
i have focus st 170 its that number the same 1.3.4.2 ?
Should be if it’s the same year range Focus
How you take a coil pack out of a 2010 Ford focus se
ruclips.net/video/41Y4bJVUtMg/видео.html
What if 1and 4 no gree bring current??
Coil pack is probably bad unless it’s a wiring issues itself to the coil.
I changed this part. And now for whatever reason the car doesn't start? It misfires.
And I put the original back in. And does the same thing.
Make sure the main connector pins didn’t get damaged when you plugged in the new one and ma at main connector is fully engaged. Also make sure all 4 spark plug wires are fully engaged. You should feel them click into place.
Do you not need to disconnect the battery?
Step 1 of doing anything electrical is so disconnect the battery, but with the car off and key out of the ignition, there shouldn’t be any power there anyways. I normally don’t disconnect batteries unless there’s bare wires that could touch something but the coil pack has a connector so it’s all good.
What intake do you have?
Sorry for the late reply, this comment was held for review for some reason. It was some ghetto intake that was on the car when I got it lol.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta has the same thing

Never heard of a rocam 1.3, but I did find this. Hopefully it helps. workshop-manuals.com/ford/ka_1997_09.1996/mechanical_repairs/3_powertrain/303_engine/303-07_engine_ignition/diagnosis_and_testing/removal_and_installation/ignition_coil_pack_1.3l_duratec-8v_(rocam)-1.6l_duratec-8v_(rocam)/

It keeps popping off
What keeps popping off?
Unscrew - liftup the coil pack - no magnet needed!
Press - do not remove the metal - you may lose it - its press system.
msd coil pack = older than 1998 standart - you will need new cables also and longer bolts.
Yeah I found out you can push that connector instead of removing it after making the video 😂
Kry nie vuur nie
Coil pack plug you push the metal bit down not pull it off rookie 😂
Is that why YOU are watching MY video? 🤡
