Ironic. Asuka usually wins in canon
It's like how her cousin Jin was low tier in the game he beat his great-grandpa.
Seriously @Fergus2k8
Mad respect for you to stick with Asuka and still being a mad threat.
Yeah, this totally explains why I feel completely overwhelmed with a up hill battle
Cause Asuka spills the beans when they make out
Yeah, and even introwise they gave Lili a special intro with Jin. But for Asuka? Nope none. Popularity wise too Lili is leaving Asuka behind the dust.
honestly that would be great. A true rival in story and in game.
Great vid! I'm subscribed
I don't even think df4 is a true punish after blocking the heat smash. I think if Lili holds db after heat smash, she'll avoid df4. The best I could find was doing a mixup depending on if she hold back or downback afterwards. if she holds back, uf2 can hit her. If she holds db, f2 connects. Its a dumb situation where you as the asuka have to win another mixup after already guessing right the first time.
One of my friends who got me to really learn T8 likewise told me about Lili's strong sidestep game. I agree Lili's one of the harder matchups.
As an Asuka main since t4 you've been an inspiration sir!
impressive tenure on Oscar there
I'm pretty sure she was introduced in 5
She came out in tekken 5 lol
She was a secret character in T4, you had to scream BOKEEE in the main menu to unlock her
@@gaetanoisgro6710 not to mention you had to forward two your tv
Lili always have better tools than asuka... that's make me sad
goat pfp
Lily is trash Asuka is better
All these things (basically proper punishment) are relatively harder to implement in actual game.
What is really consistent is that Asuka can just db3, d3, d2, df4, b4(still good antiSS ch launcher), WS1+2(cancel variation mixups), 2,1,d1+2(shortens distance, cancel mixup as well),b3(usually used when opponent does not expect, so be ready to punish in response)). While close range abuse with d1+2, 1+2, b2,4, b2,1+2d,d1+2 and throws/destabilizer. That's why, in practice, most likely, it is much less pleasant playing against chars like Xiaoyu, Hwo or DJin anyway (that avoid pressure pressuring even more) :)
trust me, after purple ranks most of the people are punishing things properly, even more so if the moves are with easy foolproof notations like 3,1 or f2,3.
@@seryipyou wouldn't say so if you really was higher than purple. Players that constantly react to b3 (mainly discussed in video) are higher than blue ranks (despite the fact it's easier to punish in t8), ofc if you don't spam it all the time.
Other Asuka moves (still) relatively safe, so it's really not a big problem in fact. The major weakness of Asuka now is her nerfed jab strings (even 1+4 options are gone, despite it was punishable even on hit), so it's less pressure tools available (ff3 is not chl and ff1 is ss-able to both sides leaving Asuka minus billion).
Im having difficulty looking for asuka low attack drive, when opponent is on defensive wait mode.
All of these points, besides the buffed sidestep, apply to Lars as well. He has a G clef, knees/elbows as primary mid checks, incredible B+3 punish with his own B+3,4, a long-reaching i12 punish for sidestep 2, almost all his lows are -12 on block, high damage, etc. etc.
Except all his -12 strong lows are locked behind stances or crouch, this gives Asuka a pretty clear window to check your 50/50 with her parry. His neutral lows are almost all super low damage or launch punishable.
How about Victor?
Using guns, karambit, sword. Dagger, forcefield to attack....
@@zackong2800 Yeah, that's why I said "almost" all his lows are -12 :)
In a game with neutered low parries it seems like people are sleeping on the fact that Asuka gets a special full launch command version. Do you have any thoughts on that move's potential? Just struck me when you were mentioning Lili's -12 ob moves.
d3+4 is really strong for sure, just a commitment when the opponent has good movement to get around it so have to be careful with it at the same time.
The problem with that move is, it is i40+, you're not gonna just throw out a move that starts up with 40 frames randomly hoping to get a low sabaki. On top of that it's steppable on reaction. If you go around throwing out a 40 frame move why not just throw out the unblockable lol
I dont think he was referring to d3+4. But the db1+2 low parry that leads to a full combo. Im also curious to hear your thoughts on this. And the mid parries she has, f1+4 and b1+4
@@CKTFergushe was saying DB 1+2 not D3+4
@@KetteiThe7th_ @crimsonfinal9666 oh in that case then, I still have to play around with it, I think it's too slow and hard read heavy so it's quite risky if you're not confident.
I was iffy on Lili's d/f 4,4 since it's now negative on hit, but being natural? I had no idea that was the case. I need to use that.
Indeed, it’s overall a lot better now. The string now being 13f (over 15f), guaranteed on normal hit and the low now only being -13 (rather than -15) more than makes up for the worse frames on the 2nd hit. You can even use it as a more damaging 13f punish although f2,3 is still better in some situations. It’s quite an effective string, especially if the opponent is unfamiliar with the matchup.
I'm trying to learn to use Asuka, and making progress, but when I'm fighting Lilli it's SAVAGE. Likewise Alisa, and I'm finding Dragunov damned annoying as well!
damn bummer xD
Nice
FergUUuuuuuuSssss
If you had the ability to buff her what would you do
She doesn't need any buffs, other characters and general power level just needs to be toned down.
I would revert the old properties of her 2,3
bring back 1, 1, 4* lol
the string that goes into cancans*
Can u do a video why asuka Steve ie a 7-3 matchup
I would guess it's a strong matchup for Asuka because almost everything he throws is a punch. You can just yolo out the punch tsabaki after your offense or during one of his block strings, it'll probably work and you get a full launcher combo. He has to be really careful taking any action
@connorsutton8745 even on hit u can just yolo it out , and all of his big lows are see able so cancans, aswell as ur db1 and df2 High crushing
@@babojee97 great tips! And I actually didn't realise df2 high crushed, I'll be even more liberal in chucking it out, thanks!
Ok
The rich get richer
I'm moving away from Asuka.... she's had over a dozen nerfs from 2,1,2 (former 2,1,1+2) not launching, ws1+2 CH not enabling f2,
b4,2,3 has no delayed extra damage
F1+3 or 2+4 can't be used to go against turtles to lure them into a mistake. And only gives a frame advantage on 2 attacks.
Wall tech trap is gone
2,3 not knocking down
Sabakis / reversals don't work on jumping, charging or unblockables
Punch reversal gives no wall combo
Charged tackle doing less damage
Charged tackle not giving a guaranteed f3
F1, d4 not launching
3-4 or df3+4 not full launching
F1, 4 gone
1+4 not going into unblockable
Cancans having no pushback anymore
Ff1 whiffing is a death sentence
And many more...
They say t8 is supposed to be offensive focused but they've been taking away all her offensive tools.
I love her but she’s just bad in this game lol
That's unfortunate that they nerfed her moveset so much. I'm still going to use her though❤
It's funny how Lili's story was she trained a lot for her to counter Asuka-
Lili is rich and beautiful of course she's better
Ironically, Lili been better than Asuka in general when it comes to gameplay wise but in Canon story Asuka mostly beat her. I think it's time for Lili to shine in this rivalry this time.
