for visitor visa, no need to go personally. I just sent my cousin last week only to drop the documents for my father . No authorization letter etc required. it is written clearly on the appointment page that a representative could drop.

Hi Raghuraman, You need not reschedule your appointment if you are ok with the date . If you have scheduled in Chennai location, then you are eligible to dropoff your documents either in chennai,Banglore or cochin ...Meaning the choice is yours but if you are dropping your documents other than VAC then you have to pay Rs 650 .

For Dropbox appointment renewal of B1B2 only dropping of your documents ie DS160, 2 visa photos, passports and the fee paid receipt are required. That is what we did on Jan 10th

Resheduleing is only allowed to later dates, you can not bring your appointment early with Resheduleing.
