The only problem i run in to with running other series is trying to do too many at the same time. i discovered that i run short of time during the week especially with open series and become so pressed for time trying to get setups built i find that i find myself taking short cuts or almost missing the race because i fall behind and end up not ready in time. which hurts my performance in everything in running because i get stretched to thin. make sure you leave yourself enough time through the race week to get everything ready and still be able to get enough practice time in.. i found about 2 to 3 different series is my limit and still be able to do well in all of them
Sorry. Was involved elsewhere and just now got a chance to watch. Good tire management. Now you have to qualify, start closer to the front, maybe win one of these things. With the tire you had left, you could push a bit more at the end to take a shot at the leaders. Also saw the talk about Charli. Too bad he had a misstep late (24:17). Looked like a good fight for position. And can't wait to see you on a shorter track where things don't get all spread out. Good race.
Huge improvement Dave! You already had so many good habits from the Road side of things. Smooth on the wheel, easy on throttle, looking ahead for overtaking opportunities and setting them up properly. Tire management is learned through trial and error. Watching people drive away at the end of the run is frustrating. Again, amazing improvement and great video sir!
Love these videos so much. Love that you've actually listened to the community and I can't wait to see ya at the higher classes and tracks! Oh and I love that you're bringing oval racing to a wider audience and everyone is learning that it isnt just about turning left!
Great stuff, I do like the ovals, have not done much in the last 2 years but every now and again I try a race and still enjoy them. It is a totally different style of driving.
For us Brits oval racing doesn’t make sense, but once you give it ago and understand not only the rules and etiquette it’s very addictive. It’s definitely not about sending it full beans lap after lap. But the real enjoyment is racing the C Class trucks and A and B class Cars especially plate racing when you’re pushing or bumping the leader. Nothing beats the feeling of being in a tight pack of 20 cars racing literally centimetres from each other. Look forward to watching those videos Dave. Then there’s the Indy cars, those races can be epic.
draft master is a great place to learn the contact limits of the cars, ARCA and Gen 4 cup teaches you tire saving and car control and C B and A class teach you how to be in a gaggle and also how to strategy your race the right way. it's always fun and is nice to do when road racing just ain't doing it for ya, glad you enjoy it tho. always nice to see others give it a go and get hooked.
Keep it up Dave. Your doing great. Run your race at your pace. The car will come to you. You ate really starting to figure out oval racing and the strategies behind it. You'll be at 3k in no time. Love how you change your lines and search around for what works best for you and how you drive your car.
Charli Brown is a good friend of mine for more than 20 years - going all the way back to Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 4, where he went by Captain Dynamite. Nice pass on a dude with literal decades of oval sim-racing experience. 😎
Love your content and that you now are giving the Oval some serious love.... And because of that I will participate in the ARCA series from the upcoming season.... Because of you I got my MOJO back in ovals... Thank you so much... Regards from Denmark
Cracking work again Dave so pleased you're enjoying it, need more UK oval'ers so we get more participation at UK friendly timeslots 😂 I think you'll love it even more when you get to experience all the nuances and how different each track feels
I never thought I would enjoy oval racing. But it's most of what I do now. One major advantage is you can be competitive without a lot of practice on most tracks.
Glad to see you get a good run in! I know after giving you some tips I was in a race with you and unfortunately you got taken out early. Was hoping to run the next one with ya but looking at the results you were #1 in 2nd split in the one after. I think you have a very good mindset of working mostly on managing your tires and letting everyone else burn theirs up. Some of the really fast guys can get away with using their tires up a bit more but that is all because it comes down to knowing when to use the tires. For example the last 10 laps you can run the high line and start to gain a lot of speed even though it will be using up the tires, but as a newer driver to oval I would always tend to err on the side of saving too much vs not enough.
I haven’t got a scooby about how to drive ovals but that was interesting to watch. I tried the truck last night in practice and the tyre evolution was very noticeable.
That moment of fear when I see my name in the ticker and don’t remember how I did in that race… very happy I just ran around cleanly. As a fellow euro oval racer, I knew I recognized your name.
Good job Dave... About the average lap time, you gotta look at it in perspective about your fast and slowest lap time average. Since the last build, the weather conditions aren't the same for all the races as it used to be. Track temp changes wildly now and that will impact massively both Q run time and your race speed average
also my tip, i thought the gen 4 was a great training tool for arca, i had dj yee do a 1on1 coaching session with me in the gen 4 and i improved with both arca and gen 4. but the gen 4 is a much longer race with cautions and fuel and tire management 1 pit stop normally under green flag track depending.
Dave now that you are paying a little more attention to the oval side of racing you should do some super late model races. Those things are mental. Great job in this race your really getting the hang of it👍
Hey dave only watched a couple of your arca runs so far.. but after this race i can say there isn't much i can suggest to make you better other than smoothness with the throttle like a couple others have mentioned.. you dont want to light switch it.. and get as much seat time as you can get there is no replacement for experience. hopefully see you on the track at somepoint but with the time difference between us and uk prolly not ever see you in a race. i dont doubt for a minute youll get a win before too much longer.
A collab with Justin Yee?! Definitely would love to see that video. Great race! Your improvement in one week is fantastic. Love the content and the onboard cameras. 3k is a bar set way too low. You'll be 4k+ in no time and then onwards from there. What were your tires at the end?
Been so cool to follow this journey! I coincidentally also started doing ARCA this week before I saw your first video. This has been tremendously helpful. Thanks Dave!
Hi Dave. Hope you’re well. I know in previous videos you’ve mentioned a store in the UK where you can see sim equipment, test it out etc, could you remind me where this is? Having recently moved over to PC I’m looking to upgrade from my fanatec dd pro and wheel stand set up. Considering the sim lab gt1 pro, simucube 2 pro base and vrs pedals. But I’d like to test out some seats etc. Cheers
No apologizes are needed Dave. We read the title and still decided to click on it because it's not the race that draws us in, it's the driver. Good racing! But tell the pit crew they can relax, always itching to jump over the wall.
Hey Dave, one thing DJYee might mention is lifting off throttle a bit more gradually, instead of all at once. Just one thing I noticed watching your inputs!
I´m on iRacing for one year now. My mistake (Nascar) was to concentrate on SR too much and try to get the A-Licence (Hoping to race clean and gentle drivers). And now? Irating is less then 1000 and a lot af races is like a destruction derby race. Its hard to get out of there. Next time, i would contrate on irating (like i did on road), it is the better solution for me, maybe for others?
Alright Dave great channel. After watching some of your vids I’ve recently bought a asetek la prima and the grid mpx wheel was wondering how you got around the wire/usb management a bit worried about catching them. cheers Scott
@@davecamyt sorry to bother you again but do I put the wheels usb into my PC or does it go in the invicta quick release because when I do that it doesn’t connect to my wheel or race director but seems to work when plugged into my pc ? I’m a little confused 🤪
Nice racing Dave. As always, great content. Where did your tires finish the race at in terms of wear? I started ARCA roughly the same day Dave did. I've done 4 races and in the first I destroyed my tires and went from P6 with 10 laps to go to P16. I've improved my tire wear and last race finished P6. I finished that race with 34% left on the right front, but it still felt good to me and I was still able to push. So what I don't understand is if there is a specific point that the tires drop off, and should I be looking to keep the tread above a specific threshold? Presumably if you wearing the tire too little you would be slow. So what's the goal?
its not so much about the wear but how hot you get the tires.. hot tires wear faster which make them slip more which leads to even more heat and starts a snowball effect.when you feel the tires going away back off a bit to let the tires cool for a lap or so and theyll come back and work again and with a very hot track surface like texas had this week in arca tire heat is an even bigger problem.
Much improved, your lines were much better…but…you still have a tendency to turn it early every now and then. Next up you should try the 80s vintage nascars…if you think ARCA is fun, the Trucks are a lot of fun too and they seem to be easier to drive. Hope to see you out there! 🏁
hope in next season we'll meet on track! :) are you doing late (22:00+) races as well, or only during the day? because of family I can race only during (late) night...

So my question is, what is the magic number for the tire wear? You mention your tire health has gone from like 5% to 50 something, but where should it be?
