After Herman has been turned human, Grandpa tries to turn him back but it doesn't go to plan.

His control of his facial expressions was impressive. That was a lot of work to remember each take. Talent.
Fred had a face like rubber, so interesting to watch him make Herman's facial expressions. What a versatile actor and actually handsome. They used a big plasma ball for effect.
Compare his expressions to those of Monica Horan who played Amy on "Everybody Loves Raymond". Very similar. Wouldn't be surprised if they were related.
The look on Herman's face when the transformation didn't work out was hilarious 😂
And the music being played when he comes out. Plus the way he looks at Grandpa and Grandpa looks back at him.
3:26 I love how overly excited Grandpa gets as soon as he turns on the machine and gets things going. Great writing in this show.
I love that Herman just embodies the sophisticated, gentle giant aspect of the original monster from the book Frankenstein, while also capturing the essence of the movie monster. 😍 That’s good acting right there!
Didn't the monster strangle Dr. Frankenstein's little brother in the book?

The gentle giant aspect was primarily from the movies. In the book the monster (Adam) was truly monsterous inside and out and kills many innocents just to get revenge on his creator. While Freaneknstin is no saint his monster definitely takes after his creator.
This is so much better than any TV shows today.

The 60's was the greatest decade for comedy TV. The Munsters, The Beverly Hillbillys, Andy Griffith, Bewitched, I Dream of Jennie, Laugh In. So many more I forget to mention. The 60's was a great decade for laughs...

Here in the UK The Munster's was a favourite show for many of us growing up. Really funny and brilliant actors.

Yeah they don't bother with a pretext which makes it that much more hilarious.
If you were a "continuity girl" good luck finding a job at ANY of the sit-coms back then -- or even now?? lol
That gives it more realism.

The purity of this "scary" show is still so great, and if you really think about it, they promoted acceptance of what someone looked like on the outside because once you met them, they were all good inside despite a little strangeness! This show was against judgment of different looking/acting people. Loved it for a lifetime! Thank You! 🥰

The way Grandpa cackles, he'd've been perfect for the role of the Joker on the Batman tv series instead of Cesar Romero. But somehow I just can't think of Grandpa as a villain.

Who needs laugh tracks when we have childhood memories of our favorite shows.
Too many times the dang laugh tracks are ridiculous. My children who now have families of their own wanted me to watch ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as I haven’t ever watched it. I do love ‘Young Sheldon’, such a great series (Ian Armitage is fantastic) and it doesn’t use a laugh track.........thank goodness! Well I started watching the first season and that over loud and stupid laugh track is very irritating.........especially when it’s played during scenes that are just not funny or it is rather inappropriate.

And if you want to see a young Dom Deluise in a very serious role (small part) see the movie 'Fail Safe' (1964)
The last bolts of lightning 🌩 changed Aunt Herman back to Uncle Herman complete with clothes.

Hermans facial expressions were so cool, and enhanced by the make up he wore
So why didn't they "fix" Marilyn the same way? They were forever bemoaning what she looked like.
Because they didn't have blueprints to make her, so they had no way to try and make repairs, as she is already her original, homely self.
She was born that way.
That's the running gag of the show, Marilyn's looks. To us she is the normal one of the family, to them she is the odd one out, any way they treat her with love and kindness. Lily sees her more of a daughter than a niece. The Munster lifestyle is completely normal to her.

Love the Munsters, Herman, Lily and grandpa were magic on screen. I watched the show as a child and loved it. Now watching it as an adult I love it even more. I am so glad to have the series on DVD.😂😅

Fun facts:
1. The electrical equipment Grandpa uses in the dungeon was designed by Kenneth Strickfaden for the original Frankenstein movies (starting in 1931). Since those movies were produced by Universal, the equipment--saved since the '30s and '40s--was available for use on The Munsters (also a Universal property). So what you see here are the same equipment and effects used when Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) created the Monster (Boris Karloff).
2. The music heard when the female Herman first shows up coming up from the dungeon and when she comes into the kitchen before going off to her job is an Irving Berlin song, "A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody." 😀
The electrical equipment was later used by Mel Brooks for Young Frankenstein

So the 1st lightning only altered his physical appearance, but the 2nd and 3rd also magicaly changed his clothes!!!
i pretty sure it did more than just affect his appearance after all they wouldn't have started calling him a her if it was only visual. at least back then anyways. if it can add an extra leg to the Y chromosome then changing clothes would be of little consequence
If you look at the clothing after the first transformation, it was the same clothing Herman always wore. They were just looser in fit.
