Thank you so much. My grandpa passed away last year and left behind his flagpole. I didn't know exactly how to do it correctly until I watched this video. I definetly needed to learn this.
I’ve just watch 10 video on “how to attach a flag” and yours is the simplest and best also I imagine this will be far quieter with clanging snap rings. Thankyou
With the rope having loose ends, I would be worried. How often does someone inadvertently pull on the rope pulling the whole thing down? I imagine you'd need to get a cherry picker or something to put it back up.
I bought a cable covered with plastic, I can't tell you how many ropes I've been through. I live by the windy bay area so the wind will wipe and tear right through flags and rope in 7 to 12 months.
Or even better: Good quality Inglefield clips in nylon for aluminium or glassfibre flagpoles and brass ones on wood flagpoles. Halyard hitch to tie them on to the line. Voila!
@@KadenMarcus If you try that on a windy day I can almost guarantee that it will not stay in place. You will have to have some better knot to secure it.
@@KadenMarcus Do you have any real life experience on this subject or are you just guessing? Because that's not how it works. Figure eight method will not suffice (actually did that mistake by accident). And you have to also realise that the rope stretches out over time after you fasten the rope. So I suspect the rope in this video will hang loosely and flapping around in the wind by the end of the day. FYI: They also made another mistake in this video. They should have twisted the rope around the flagpole. Because when it's windy the rope will snap against the pole making an irritating sound.
@@laserbuddha Uhh no. The figure eight method is a very reliable method. If you do it properly, that thing ain’t coming undone. Even in a cyclone. How do I know this? Because my flagpole’s halyard stayed secured during a cyclone and it was tied just like that. (Obviously I took the flag off it to prevent damage.) And he’s not wrong when he doesn’t twist the halyard around the pole, that’s simply another way.

could you explain more with the eyelets please

If your flag has eyelets just use a snap hook

I doubt that the way you fasten the rope to the flagpole at the end really is a good way to secure it.
