David C. On the bright side at least this was a recorded performance rather than cd... it sounds more natural and righteous to play it in one go in front of an audience
+Emily La lol, i heard this piece first time through yo yo ma version, then i immediately searched for du pre, but just can't find it. I think it would super nice if du pre had played it.
+bill wang I don't think Jacqueline du Pre had any Tchaikovsky in her repertoire -- she certainly didn't record any. This is a bit odd, because William Pleeth thought enough of this piece to include it among his famous Masterclasses in 1996. (Perhaps he thought Tchaikovsky was syrupy enough without Jackie oozing all over it.....?)
Awesome!! Thanks a lot, stradi cuatro
로코코 바레이션 연주중에 로스트로포비치의 연주가 제일인것같아요 ^^

Thank you so much!
Live performances (warts and all) rock!

5:41 wow...
I've also heard a few different recordings from Rostro doing this same piece. I liked more the recording he did for "Les Virtuoses De L'impossible".
LUCIMIENTO excelso del chelo en esta gran composición del genio Tchaikovsky.
i probably heard like a thousand hours of rostropovich recordings lifetime, so you just gotta trust me on that one
you can hear its definatly rostropovich.
Is there a recording on youtube or elsewhere of the original Tchaikovsky composition?
great Slava
was it really performed by rostropovich? thanks
Darn people coughing!!!!!

15:42 my favuorite part...
I so wish Jackie du Pre recorded this! But this is pretty good, just sixth heaven instead of seventh

fastfriendtigerlily, Jacqueline du Pre has the best version IMHO of the Tchaikovsky Trio for violin, cello and piano. It’s my favourite version.
