In the last year, I’ve noticed a significant number of ‘professional’ players quitting matches in tournaments because of how broken this game is. Single player, multiplayer, the game genuinely seems to pick a team to win. Play a game, and I think you pointed this out yourself, and you can often tell when you’re gonna lose within the first couple of minutes and you are almost always right. Significantly important games you lose but you don’t feel you’ve lost because the opposition were better, or because you were unlucky, but because you were scripted to lose. When that happens, you could have stepped into the game following a 5:0 win over Barça and lose to Bury 1:0, with their only shot of the game. It’s absolute bullshit and it’s enough to stop me being it. There are games where you need a scripted outcome to progress a story but that should NOT happen in a sports game. Personally, I’ll never touch the game again. It looks beautiful, the presentation is spot on, having the licenses instead of made up teams makes a huge difference, The Journey is a brilliant addition... all these things should make the game amazing but it’s let down by the core gameplay being so badly broken
For me Ultimate difficulty is just as easy as Legendary was the past years. Every game I score 3-4 goals, even against the good teams. The only annoying thing is that the CPU will always score their only two shots on goal.
The passing and shooting isn't consistent because every player has different passing and shooting stats. Thats the whole point of players having stats. If you want your players to be more accurate use the better players. People complained that when you play west brom they pass it around like Barcelona. So EA adjust the passing to make it more realistic and then people complain again.
Ok.. MGH uses Arsenal and there are players who are not world class, so they miss some passes and shots. OK. GOT IT. COOL. Now explain this: In the same match, why are all of Wolves' players (who will have lower stats despite how well they are performing in real world as the upgrade hasn't been done yet) suddenly as good as Barcelona/Bayern/Madrid?
The fact is, if a PROFESSIONAL player, who is let's say 85 rated. Clean through one on one with the keeper, they are not going to scuff a shot so bad that it goes 5 yards wide of the post. Sure it might happen the odd occasion, and it has in real life. But think about every single football match that is played in any league around the world. If a player is one on one, they are likely to score. As I say it might happen occasionally, but it happens too much in fifa. Rant over :)
People who play on assisted when it's literally their job have no right to complain about the passing. Also - who wants gameplay to be consistent? it's way more realistic that you go into a game and think fuck they are really up for it! That's football. I know you'll get binned from game changers for even talking about it, but you're literally talking about scripting. Look at the sliders, that's EA already saying they can effect your first touch, speed, marking ability, shooting accuracy and how many runs your team makes (you noticed that) and you would be crazy to think scripting isn't in the game.

AI defending is terrible, keepers are a mess, clearances fall on the feet of the opponents who have near perfect shot accuracy, players without good agility clear balls and score super volleys from bicycle kicks and tiny players routinely out jump monsters like Kompany despite closely marking and jockeying. Dont get me started on passing, im playing full manual (on ultimate difficulty) and its a joke. Tactical defending clearly doesnt work anymore so there are situations where the game pulls uoure cbs out of position despite instructions to sit back while attacking.Theres an unhealthy amount of RNG in whats supposed to be a sports simulation game. It's like EA through out all realism. And I'm not talking about playing on the easiest modes, some of us play on the harder modes so we see the bugs more clearly.
Respect for manual controls! i´m using those in career mode and legendary/ultimate difficulty level, but not in online because it gives so much advantage for opponent.. What is wrong with manual controls in your opinion?
There are no issues, you need to pass quicker. Its about higher speed level by passing to get a defense rigged. I won matches 6-3 and such like that, on ultimate. Its broken, its too easy, dont say its hard. Try tactics and watch your own gameplay. Selecting the right players is broken for example, but not the things youre saying.
The gameplay is smooth, passing needs improvement but the AI is unacceptable. In my Liverpool CM I’ve had Salah and Mane get caught when they have 2-3 stride leads against slow CBs
I fully agree with you with everything you say from the Shakhtar game and onwards (between 7:05 - 12:05). There are certain moments in games where the opposition team is unplayable. Like, totally unplayable. They win every tackle, every 50-50-challenge, the ball drops right at their feet after crosses/corners. Most of the time it happens against weaker sides, which doesn't make any sense to me.. In the big games I do quite well. One game is easy, and one game is hard. A lot of the bigger teams in the Premier League is struggling in my CM. Chelsea and Man City are in the bottom three halfway through November.. It doesn't make any sense! I've experienced much of the same as you describe. My offensive players don't make any runs. They just stop. Horrible touches. Totally outplayed. And often in the next game, usually against better opponents, I completely dominate the game. Play "sexy football" as Özil would say. It's VERY frustrating at times, and I fully understand your reaction! Something needs to be done when it's a recurring issue.
I've just finished my first season on ultimate and went unbeaten in the league and won the treble, fair enough I've built an insane side but no side is unplayable. I was struggling until I really started nailing the different first touches and dribbling in accordance with what the situation needed. Considering you can use R1 and the right stick as well as L2 to hold and shield it's really not that hard to stop the opposition from taking the ball off you which prevents the admittedly unrealistic conversion rate. Defending isn't hard it's just a case of actually letting the AI control defenders and using the one you control to jockey and cut off passing lanes, as long as you're not flicking through the defence in panic mode with L1 then they do stay in a decent shape. Timed finishing ensures you can outscore teams when necessary too. Lastly using the new tactics helps to shut out games and change formations to aid in either pulling a game back or protecting a lead. It's not perfect but it's still the best FIFA I've played and has actually meant I didn't buy PES this year either due to it being superior in most ways.

Games just harder this year. Its frustrating as hell but it makes it even more rewarding when you win. I'm doing a Pro Career Mode with all manual settings on ultimate and its super interesting. I was awful my first year at Malmo (in Sweden), went to Braunschweig in the German 3rd division on loan the next season, and scored literally 2 goals all year. It was horrible. Sooooo frustrating. But then I came back to Malmo, did well in the preseason, won a starting place, and went on to win the league with them on the last day of the season. Then I got a move to Ajax. Its been the best career mode I've had in years. Its frustrating but that's the point of a harder difficulty. Also, bro ----> 9:10 in the video. Thats your problem. Joe Balint-Kurti I’ve been playing with Celtic in the Premier League and I’m the same my team isn’t exactly bad but I simply don’t think the manner that I’m conceding in is fair. My goalkeeper constantly gets pegged for some reason or the CPU hits a shot harder than you can possibly hit it making it literally unsavable

The problem with FIFA is that it is basically a monopoly, (let’s be honest, PES doesn’t come near the popularity because of EA’s licensing rights). It just means that EA has no direct competition, they can therefore churn out the same game every single year with minor fixes at a time
You forget that default sliders are set to 50% shot and pass error, thus passes and shots not going where you aim. If you want zero errors., change your sliders
I feel like the game is the best it's ever been, for me the passing and finishing isn't an issue I'd say 99% of my passes go exactly where I want them to. In the attacking third of the pitch my players make plenty of runs so I always have options to pass the ball(maybe try adjusting your tactics and player instructions really makes a difference) and I can see where your coming from with the difficulty being up and down but I think that's the way ea want it to be as it's more realistic as every game irl isn't the same, but could still do with a bit of an adjustment
These things will never change. I'm still playing FIFA 18 and everything you mention are all the problems I'm having. It's even worse for me because I generally play Career Mode with lower-ranked teams. I'm good enough to be up there for the championship but the game won't have it. There are games where opposing players can shoot from anywhere on the pitch and get a goal yet all my passes are intercepted and their keeper turns on god mode if I even get there because all of a sudden every first touch is garbage. It's like rubber banding for the game because it doesn't want you to go a season undefeated or get too far ahead so it just tells you to stop. The best example I can give is that I was playing as Mainz against Hertha Berlin, I was 2-1 up, the ref added 3 minutes of ET and the game went on for FIFTEEN MINUTES. I honestly think the only reason it eventually ended was because they scored an own goal.
I haven't experienced that big of a difference in AI. Passing was bugged in the beginning, but hasn't been the last 2 weeks. Same with shooting. (I play on PS4- Legendary difficulty- I'm in my 3rd year with Man City). Simulated games are too difficult to win though. By now I'm even winning the games where my opponent gets 8 shots on target and I'm only getting 4. All it takes is custom tactics (and a decent team lol)
This issues and game breaking and frustrating bugs have been getting worse with every FIFA. I remember back in FIFA 13 I enjoyed the gameplay, there were some bugs but not very bad, and I remember that I almost never raged. IMO, the BS started when they introduced first touch error in FIFA 14 with the new console gen. I liked 15 but that game had many extremely frustrating bugs, with that game I raged more than before. I skipped 16, but I played a hell lot of 17 (just like with 15) and I've never raged more in a FIFA game before (or any other game) it was too frustrating. I skipped 18 fortunately since from what I played it was trash and now with 19 many bugs I've encountered in online matches are so bad I find them comical, don't even get angry anymore. Sadly, I highly doubt EA will do something; maybe because they don't want to or simply can't, perhaps because many of the bugs are probably related to the core gameplay they've been using for years and that they are not going to change any time soon.
Football is up and down, can’t complain about contrasting results, you’d be complaining that you were winning every game to easily. Passing? Footballers make mistakes, it isn’t a bug, misplaced passes are a thing, you’re just delving way too deep into when it makes the game more realistic and less robotic
There are a lot of problems, tactics have really helped me tho, so look at those, if they aren't making runs then tell them to on the tactics. Also, try football manager when it comes out in a couple weeks, make it interesting, different, bring inter milan to former glory or something while being realistic
And that's where people are failing they criticize fifa for not using tactics and when they finally get it when they finally put it in the game they are lost people don't know how to use it and what to do with it
Thankfully I play a lot of FM so I understand tactics. Without using tactics I would get smashed every game on ultimate, but using them I’m currently on a 20+ unbeaten run with Bayern.
Hey, MGH, try the tactics. You should use "Fast Build Up" and for attack. This helps with players running into space. However, they tend to over do it, so just check the impact and number of people pressing. As for the part about one game being impossible and the other easy. I'd be happy if there was consistency. It happens to me. I'm doing a RTG with MK Dons and I just got murdered in the caraboa cup by some 3rd tier team. Felt like I was playing against arsenal. The game is good, but not great... It has loads of potential if they could fix the defence, the passing and the team pressing issue, I'd be happy. What does the patch fix? Had an opportunity to download it this morning... Thought I'd watch a video about it first.
at 11:50 you mention your players not making enough runs, its literally in the sliders as Run Frequency just bump that up a little bit and see what happens

I feel like teams that play with a 3 centrerbacks are so much harder to score against than teams with a four backline. And it's so annoying that I can beat Manchester City with Spurs but it's almost impossible to score against Wolves for example.
MGH if you can pass this along to EA: in Madden they have a slider for minimum speed rating. It means you can flat out raise the minimum speed for any player to an arbitrary number. For a game like FIFA where players have speed and acceleration in the 30s and 40s this needs to exist, because the way that Shaktar defender or honestly most defenders can catch you after you found a proper hole or pass is absolutely unacceptable.
ALSO its really annoying because the pass error sliders just... dont match up. sometimes 55 pass error just, they wont complete one pass then theyll give up possession once in the next game.
exactly... i used to play a lot of nhl on last gen and it worked the same and i absolutely loved it... especially in the playoffs-- i won one game by four goal lost the next 1:2 in overtime and couldnt score agains the same team...just like in real life

This Fifa has been the best in years. Yes there are bugs but watching you you’re genuinely not that great. Put the pass speed up and pack the ball quicker.
7 months late, but I couldn't agree more with this. This has honestly been the most enjoyable fifa game ive ever played. There are obviously annoying bugs, but if you actually know how to play the game and are half decent, it's really fun.
its when the cpu change to possession play style so you cant get the ball off them, their passes are very quick and precise on ultimate. But you also cross alot and your team is built around pacey players, get a tall striker and you'll start winning more.
I couldn't agree more with you on this. I play alot of career mode as well. Alot of people are comparing it to 18 saying all problems are the same but I actually feel like 18 was better to play. In 19 your players of the ball are out of position alot and do not move Into space for you to make a pass. 70% of passes seem to be intercepted purely because there is know where else for the ball to go. And again the new difficulty is good adition but what's the point of there being difficulty settings when I can go 4-0 up against Bayern and then loss 3-1 to Brighton.
I’ve so much to say on this game, but the only word I can use for now is Handicapping and Difficulty spiking is a thing. And it’s worse than ever. I’m also thinking about snapping my disc cause I’ve had enough at this stage I shoot it’s blocked and the defender burns past me, why does the AI become overpowered game after game without any let off? Okay nothing is easy but still, if the AI shoots it’s always in the top corners like a rocket! And you cannot stop it, you can try to that shot, but you’ll obviously miss
The only thing that pisses me off so god damn much is that you are not listeting to your community at all. Can you just make a career mode where you can let us tell you which players to sign and sell and so on ? maybe a few challanges that you have to achieve and forfeits if you don't? just think about it , you have a lot of possibilities to make the series fun , not just playing like a robot , simming games and signing players that only you want...
I was around in the early days before your channel was "MGH" I no longer watch you but still check in to see how you're doing. It's always the same stuff though, just you moaning about the same issues on different versions of the game. I sometimes play a game where I check your twitter to see if the latest tweet was a moaning complaint (just checked and as of writing this it is) or not because it often is aha. Now, I wish you to do well because you were one of the first people I ever became a fan of on youtube, but the lack of channel progression and evolution makes you impossible to bare for me personally. All he needs is more practice and he will be fine. A few times near the beginning I went 2-0 down but recovered, now I don't give the opposition a many chances 👍
I get it that you are frustrated by FIFA19. Being a RUclips gamer, it is obvious that such silly and redundant bugs disappoints you and demotivates you from making future videos or even playing the game, but you are more than welcome to make a separate video about it. Please don't complain about such stuff in the career mode series. It absolutely ruins it. Upload another video, describe the faults, point out the errors and discuss with us. But please don't intermingle this with FIFA gameplay. Hope I don't sound too critical.
If it's any consolation, the patch is now live on PC, the passing is crisper, the CPU constant one touch rockets are a lot less as well as every player scoring bicycle kicks with pin-point accuracy. HUGE HUGE problem though, Ultimate is now way too easy.
PC this year is much better, plus the mods on PC help massively to make this game so much better. The passing, I agree is shocking and the amount of overhead kicks. I found out that when my keeper saved a shot from cpu and they must score from the rebound no matter what. Seems all of my defenders are just watching the ball and do nothing when there is a rebound
I did a career mode with man united - lost 3-0 to man city and beat them 6-1 in the same season. I also played Valencia twice in the champions league, one game won 4-1 and the other game lost 7-3. I'll win 10 games in a row and lose 10 in a row in the same season.
I play full manual controls [ps4] with some slider tweaks based on the operation sports project. And honestly i don't see a problem with the passing. I also don't feel like I get frustrated with any inconsistencies from match to match...i just see varied results and types of games. Just like actual football.
Its because you're on assisted and the game cant allow for every pass to be correct so it makes some passes bent/miss even if you aim correctly!!! If you learn to play manual there is no computer interference so if you aim correctly it will go where you aim; assuming you get the power right

Completely agree. Doing a southampton career mode and i beat city and chelsea 2-0 comfortably but then got slaughtered 4-0 by west ham and watford

Joe Balint-Kurti I’ve been playing with Celtic in the Premier League and I’m the same my team isn’t exactly bad but I simply don’t think the manner that I’m conceding in is fair. My goalkeeper constantly gets pegged for some reason or the CPU hits a shot harder than you can possibly hit it making it literally unsavable

The problem with FIFA is that it is basically a monopoly, (let’s be honest, PES doesn’t come near the popularity because of EA’s licensing rights). It just means that EA has no direct competition, they can therefore churn out the same game every single year with minor fixes at a time

You forget that default sliders are set to 50% shot and pass error, thus passes and shots not going where you aim. If you want zero errors., change your sliders
With all due respect, if you don't think passing is accurate, just change the assisted pass in options.

I just hate how aubameyang gets caught by defenders when I’m sprinting, you can physically see your players slowing down so the CPU can catch up.
I feel like the game is the best it's ever been, for me the passing and finishing isn't an issue I'd say 99% of my passes go exactly where I want them to. In the attacking third of the pitch my players make plenty of runs so I always have options to pass the ball(maybe try adjusting your tactics and player instructions really makes a difference) and I can see where your coming from with the difficulty being up and down but I think that's the way ea want it to be as it's more realistic as every game irl isn't the same, but could still do with a bit of an adjustment
These things will never change. I'm still playing FIFA 18 and everything you mention are all the problems I'm having. It's even worse for me because I generally play Career Mode with lower-ranked teams. I'm good enough to be up there for the championship but the game won't have it. There are games where opposing players can shoot from anywhere on the pitch and get a goal yet all my passes are intercepted and their keeper turns on god mode if I even get there because all of a sudden every first touch is garbage. It's like rubber banding for the game because it doesn't want you to go a season undefeated or get too far ahead so it just tells you to stop.
The best example I can give is that I was playing as Mainz against Hertha Berlin, I was 2-1 up, the ref added 3 minutes of ET and the game went on for FIFTEEN MINUTES. I honestly think the only reason it eventually ended was because they scored an own goal.
I haven't experienced that big of a difference in AI. Passing was bugged in the beginning, but hasn't been the last 2 weeks. Same with shooting. (I play on PS4- Legendary difficulty- I'm in my 3rd year with Man City). Simulated games are too difficult to win though. By now I'm even winning the games where my opponent gets 8 shots on target and I'm only getting 4. All it takes is custom tactics (and a decent team lol)
This issues and game breaking and frustrating bugs have been getting worse with every FIFA. I remember back in FIFA 13 I enjoyed the gameplay, there were some bugs but not very bad, and I remember that I almost never raged. IMO, the BS started when they introduced first touch error in FIFA 14 with the new console gen. I liked 15 but that game had many extremely frustrating bugs, with that game I raged more than before. I skipped 16, but I played a hell lot of 17 (just like with 15) and I've never raged more in a FIFA game before (or any other game) it was too frustrating. I skipped 18 fortunately since from what I played it was trash and now with 19 many bugs I've encountered in online matches are so bad I find them comical, don't even get angry anymore.
Sadly, I highly doubt EA will do something; maybe because they don't want to or simply can't, perhaps because many of the bugs are probably related to the core gameplay they've been using for years and that they are not going to change any time soon.

Football is up and down, can’t complain about contrasting results, you’d be complaining that you were winning every game to easily. Passing? Footballers make mistakes, it isn’t a bug, misplaced passes are a thing, you’re just delving way too deep into when it makes the game more realistic and less robotic

There are a lot of problems, tactics have really helped me tho, so look at those, if they aren't making runs then tell them to on the tactics. Also, try football manager when it comes out in a couple weeks, make it interesting, different, bring inter milan to former glory or something while being realistic
Use tactics you tool! They really help especially on ultimate. If you have any knowledge on football then you can use tactics to your advantage.
And that's where people are failing they criticize fifa for not using tactics and when they finally get it when they finally put it in the game they are lost people don't know how to use it and what to do with it
Thankfully I play a lot of FM so I understand tactics. Without using tactics I would get smashed every game on ultimate, but using them I’m currently on a 20+ unbeaten run with Bayern.

Hey, MGH, try the tactics. You should use "Fast Build Up" and for attack. This helps with players running into space. However, they tend to over do it, so just check the impact and number of people pressing. As for the part about one game being impossible and the other easy. I'd be happy if there was consistency. It happens to me. I'm doing a RTG with MK Dons and I just got murdered in the caraboa cup by some 3rd tier team. Felt like I was playing against arsenal. The game is good, but not great... It has loads of potential if they could fix the defence, the passing and the team pressing issue, I'd be happy. What does the patch fix? Had an opportunity to download it this morning... Thought I'd watch a video about it first.
I'm only finding CL games hard, they are so difficult imo no matter how weak the team is, i concede bangers from average players.
at 11:50 you mention your players not making enough runs, its literally in the sliders as Run Frequency just bump that up a little bit and see what happens

I feel like teams that play with a 3 centrerbacks are so much harder to score against than teams with a four backline. And it's so annoying that I can beat Manchester City with Spurs but it's almost impossible to score against Wolves for example.

MGH if you can pass this along to EA: in Madden they have a slider for minimum speed rating. It means you can flat out raise the minimum speed for any player to an arbitrary number. For a game like FIFA where players have speed and acceleration in the 30s and 40s this needs to exist, because the way that Shaktar defender or honestly most defenders can catch you after you found a proper hole or pass is absolutely unacceptable.
For the runs you could just adjust the run freqency in the sliders

its really annoying because the pass error sliders just... dont match up. sometimes 55 pass error just, they wont complete one pass then theyll give up possession once in the next game.

exactly... i used to play a lot of nhl on last gen and it worked the same and i absolutely loved it... especially in the playoffs-- i won one game by four goal lost the next 1:2 in overtime and couldnt score agains the same team...just like in real life

7 months late, but I couldn't agree more with this. This has honestly been the most enjoyable fifa game ive ever played. There are obviously annoying bugs, but if you actually know how to play the game and are half decent, it's really fun.

its when the cpu change to possession play style so you cant get the ball off them, their passes are very quick and precise on ultimate. But you also cross alot and your team is built around pacey players, get a tall striker and you'll start winning more.
I couldn't agree more with you on this. I play alot of career mode as well. Alot of people are comparing it to 18 saying all problems are the same but I actually feel like 18 was better to play. In 19 your players of the ball are out of position alot and do not move Into space for you to make a pass. 70% of passes seem to be intercepted purely because there is know where else for the ball to go. And again the new difficulty is good adition but what's the point of there being difficulty settings when I can go 4-0 up against Bayern and then loss 3-1 to Brighton.
I’ve so much to say on this game, but the only word I can use for now is Handicapping and Difficulty spiking is a thing. And it’s worse than ever. I’m also thinking about snapping my disc cause I’ve had enough at this stage I shoot it’s blocked and the defender burns past me, why does the AI become overpowered game after game without any let off? Okay nothing is easy but still, if the AI shoots it’s always in the top corners like a rocket! And you cannot stop it, you can try to that shot, but you’ll obviously miss

Try use the custom tactics or player instructions and if that doesn't work use sliders to turn up run frequency
The only thing that pisses me off so god damn much is that you are not listeting to your community at all. Can you just make a career mode where you can let us tell you which players to sign and sell and so on ? maybe a few challanges that you have to achieve and forfeits if you don't? just think about it , you have a lot of possibilities to make the series fun , not just playing like a robot , simming games and signing players that only you want...

I was around in the early days before your channel was "MGH" I no longer watch you but still check in to see how you're doing. It's always the same stuff though, just you moaning about the same issues on different versions of the game. I sometimes play a game where I check your twitter to see if the latest tweet was a moaning complaint (just checked and as of writing this it is) or not because it often is aha. Now, I wish you to do well because you were one of the first people I ever became a fan of on youtube, but the lack of channel progression and evolution makes you impossible to bare for me personally. I get it that you are frustrated by FIFA19. Being a RUclips gamer, it is obvious that such silly and redundant bugs disappoints you and demotivates you from making future videos or even playing the game, but you are more than welcome to make a separate video about it. Please don't complain about such stuff in the career mode series. It absolutely ruins it. Upload another video, describe the faults, point out the errors and discuss with us. But please don't intermingle this with FIFA gameplay. Hope I don't sound too critical.

If it's any consolation, the patch is now live on PC, the passing is crisper, the CPU constant one touch rockets are a lot less as well as every player scoring bicycle kicks with pin-point accuracy. HUGE HUGE problem though, Ultimate is now way too easy.
PC this year is much better, plus the mods on PC help massively to make this game so much better. The passing, I agree is shocking and the amount of overhead kicks. That has been addressed in the patch, thank god. Appreciate the vid. You are not an idiot and not wrong. Great vid matt, and I fully understand where you are coming from. I found out that when my keeper saved a shot from cpu and they must score from the rebound no matter what. Seems all of my defenders are just watching the ball and do nothing when there is a rebound

I did a career mode with man united - lost 3-0 to man city and beat them 6-1 in the same season. I also played Valencia twice in the champions league, one game won 4-1 and the other game lost 7-3. I'll win 10 games in a row and lose 10 in a row in the same season.
I play full manual controls [ps4] with some slider tweaks based on the operation sports project. And honestly i don't see a problem with the passing. I also don't feel like I get frustrated with any inconsistencies from match to match...i just see varied results and types of games. Just like actual football.
I've found that turning up the run frequency slider for both user and CPU (so its still fair) makes the games more enjoyable and seems more realistic.

Its because you're on assisted and the game cant allow for every pass to be correct so it makes some passes bent/miss even if you aim correctly!!! If you learn to play manual there is no computer interference so if you aim correctly it will go where you aim; assuming you get the power right
