The whole point of the show was to show that not every relationship is perfect and was giving a realistic take on it, and also they were teenagers which meant they had secrets weather it was varied around insecurities or in their case, pregnancy, lot of sex, and cheating. It was way ahead of it's time when it premiered as well, and every storyline was better after the next.
