We visited his nasi padang stall, Dapur Hassan, three days after the Thailand match and found many fans still queuing there.

First the Chinese netizens were surprised and intrigued that the Singapore team players need part time jobs as stall operator and property agents when their own highly paid national team is strived with scandals and disappointment. Then after China lost to Korea, they tune in to watch the TH-SG match 1.5hrs later and rooted obviously for the SG team. Understandably, they developed a strong connection with Hassan watching him made those 11 saves. The final ingredient to this amazing story is Hassan’s humble background, running a simple food stall selling affordable food making them wanting to support his business and it’s affordable and easy to do so with the QR code made available later by zealous netizens. In their hearts is our saviour deserve more and did what they did and it spread like wild fire. That begs the question - is the Singapore soccer current state of affairs due to lack of career prospects of pro players? Why smaller country like Qatar has a better team? Why poorer countries like Iraq has better team?
New found respect for the Hassan Fam! 🎉 As for the so called PRC soccer fans, your national team mainly advanced to the next round due to better head-to-head records against Thailand: PRC men national team won the Thais in Bangkok last Nov and drew against the Thais earlier this month in China. Tie breaker rules will come in to be applied in this case when China and Thailand somehow ended up with exactly the same number of points and goals for and against. FYI, next round draw will be conducted on 27 Jun in KL whereby 18 teams will be divided into 3 groups of which only 8 will make it to USA/Mexico/Canada in 2026. which countries are amongst these 18?: Traditional Asia reps like Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Iraq are more or less confirmed to take up 50 percent of these 8 slots for Asia. Fighting for the remaining 4 slots are Uzbekistan, Iran, Australia, Kuwait, North Korea etc. Good luck to China.
