I bought a Carnival Red 765 RS and I love it. I do think I’ll be adding a 1200 RS this coming spring in the same color.

Yasss that new release colour looks amazing on the 1200!!

Hi, I've got this same bike and I'm in love with it, I've put bar end mirrors and a tail tidy on and it looks great. It sounds mint when you get it going, power delivery and handling is perfect 👌

I am looking forward to your final verdict on this or the RS. I just wish the R had some more colour options. I'm not really a fan of the grey or the white. The price and slightly less aggressive position are pushing me towards the R but damn does that yellow RS look fine! Test riding one soon.

    • @Maverick-moto
      @Maverick-moto 10 месяцев назад +4

Couldn’t agree more Ed. I test rode a Cosmic yellow ‘RS’ last week, and several aspects of it would push me towards the R, despite the nicer colours that the RS comes in !
I was on tip toe on the RS at 5ft 7”……The Ohlins rear shock seems intermittently harsh and is at best firm at all times…….Trying to read the rev counter (unless you choose to display it in actual numbers) is impossible
The dash on the ‘R is FAR clearer in my humble opinion.
Finally, although this might not bother you, the engine transforms from ULTRA refined to somewhat harsh above 7000rpm. Test ride one if you can. Hope that helps you with your decision.

Test rode an RS and I really wanted one. I couldn't afford it. Then I booked a R in white. I could get it with financing. In the meantime I found a great deal on a 2018 triple RS. Bought it with cash and brought it home. This time my brain overrided my heart. I think in my situation it was a better buy. The bike was well taken care of and feels so great to ride. As my first 765 I am very happy. New RS/R has the best styling. But at least in my opinion the 2018 RS has a better dash UI.

So you couldn’t afford to finance a new one, but you could afford to pay cash for a used one?🤔

Rear shock usually preloaded for a pillion from factory. so an easy adjust for rider only use .

R probably would have done me fine, but couldn't resist the Cosmic Yellow of the RS.
I wish Triumph did the R in at least one non boring colour

I'm down the rabbit hole on everything Street/Speed Triple related since I'll be shopping for another new bike next season. That being said, I live in the US, in the Rocky Mountains and canyon carving + fast, open roads means I'm probably leaning towards the Speed Triple RS!

Picking up a cosmic yellow RS, which I know you love as well (“take my money”).
But both the R and RS are lovely. The bigger decision was the 23’ XSR900 or the Striple. Still may pick one of those up some day as well.

I have this bike with some additional goodies. I also have the low seat! Though note that the seat is quite wide and that affects getting your feet down.

The only major oversight with the R, bland choice of colours excepted, is not having the option to spec it with cruise control. For some reason Triumph allow cruise control to be added on the more track oriented RS but not on the more road oriented R. Bizarre.

  • @CarlosB0578
    @CarlosB0578 10 месяцев назад

Went for the Rs in Carnival Red and absolutely love it 850miles in.
It was a no brainer for me, as the upgrades surpass the extra money, plus the colour and being able to spec Cruise control on the Rs... That being said, if youre really not bothered aboutthe extras etc, and cant spend the extra, you will still be perfectly happy and fall in love with the R as its a cracking bike fir the road..
    Amazing value Triumph!🙌👏

Nice bike , I just wish for us oldies with hip problems etc , all manufacturers would do a lowered seat without the pillion seat hump , make it a lot easier for us oldies x you get on bike then wait ten minutes till the hip pain goes ( ps try getting a hip op 🤪🤪) going back to the bike looks good saw one yesterday in my dealers in the red , beautiful 👍👍👍😊

Hello again. Well i did indeed order a Yellow RS earlier this week . Looking forward to it coming. Options were the screen and fly screen and cruise and heated grips.
That one does look nice in white.
I went for the RS after test riding both bikes back to back.
The R clocks were good and easy, the RS ones i never had an issue with unlike many as you change gear with your ear not your eyes,
The rear felt more composed and less harsh on the RS, tyres also made a significant difference feel wise.
Mirrors on the RS are a bit MEH styling wise, but the RS looked a little more "finished" so to speak and of course when you come to sell it - everyone would prefer the buy the RS over the R which is human nature to go for the posh one over the base model.
I suspect residual values after 3 - 4 years would see you lose slightly less money on the R model if that bothers, you if buying outright. If handing back then its irrelevant.
It will be far easier to ride, live with and easier to maintain than my other early 2000's triples in green with reverse cylinder Suter engines i can promise you. probably quicker too i reckon.

So happy I was able to get the RS in Cosmic Yellow.
The differences between this model and my 2018RS are definitely enough to justify the upgrade. Just wish triumph made it easier to do a slip on exhaust, and to actually see the TFT display lol

I would go for the R, certainly more suited to real world riding. Wish Triumph would bring back the old style half & half dash screen from the old R. At the bike show Friday 24th. Looking forward to your review of this little beauty 🏍👍

Nice initial review Kate, I had the previous 765 RS and found the ride a bit too uncompromising. This will be on my radar in about 12 months time when I’m due a change. I also like a slot to put my thumb in 😉👍🏻

I've got the 2023 RS but it wasn't the Ohlins suspension or stylema brakes that swung it for me over the R, it was the choice of colours, after two previous street triples in bland colours the cosmic yellow won me over.

When Kate says Triumph, then i'm all ears (bet I look funny)! Did you put that slice of Orange on the front Brembo? OK, back to business... the Street Triple is one of Triumph's best sellers in Switzerland, I quite like them as well, but i've never test ridden one (maybe for fear of wanting to bye it) I do think it needs something done with that akward and out of place thingy sticking out from under the seat ie. a tail tidy, and probably a different exhaust. I believe you changed yours on Donald? (altho, I might be wrong) Look forward to your long term review, ride safe, Swiss greets, Steve.

This has been said loads of times but that dash has no place on a bike this expensive. It looks so cheap compared to the competition. Then the RS has the worse TFT I've ever seen. Come on Triumph sort your dashes out. The year of Kate's old ST Donald both had the same decent TFT though??🤔

Sounds 'pretty nice'? My missus has the 2018 R and it sounds like a mechanical orgasm. I can hear it over the intercom when she opens it up and it damn near gives me an orgasm. I take it to the shops occasionally and I need a change of underpants it sounds so good. Goes like blue s@#t too.........
She was looking to 'upgrade' - did some research and anyone who has tried to replace their Stripple says that everything else feels gutless and heavy.
I can't get on with the riding position myself. Too much weight on my arse and not enough on the wrists - but in this, I am told, I am in a minority.
