This is actually one of the funniest/best vlogs😂 you’re personalities are so naturally quirky and cute together 😂 raya cooking away and Louis taste testing mashed potato’s 😂
Raya, I am MUCH older than you and I started college right out of high school. I got into a relationship and decided that I would take a semester off so that I was able to be with him more. That "break" turned into years and years and years. I ALWAYS talked about going back. I had a friend that got sick of me talking about school and never doing anything about it. She basically told me to either go back or shut up about it already. I went back in 2020 to finish my Human Services degree and i am loving it so much that I am going on to get my Bachelor's in Social Work. It has been such an amazing, challenging, and rewarding experience. School has given me so much more than an education. Besides having my son, it has been the best experience of my life. I waited bcuz I was embarrassed by my age, but little did I know there are people older and much older than me. The way I see it now is that as long as we are still breathing, we have the opportunity to do anything we want to. My advice to you is if you truly want to go back, find a way and DO IT!! I have so many regrets bcuz I waited. You are still very young, and already have a Bachelor's from the sound of it? Girl, what are you waiting for? Go get that dream!! Love you Raya.
I went for my masters at 33 years old in epidemiology. Then waited another 9 years after I graduated before pursuing my PhD in public policy and social change and at 49 I finished my PhD. Never too late to start. But if I was to do it all over again, I would be a wildlife biologist working as a back country ranger!
Since covid happened, I never thought I would go back to school. I worked really hard in the Travel Industry for years, I'm almost 29 now and I'm at Uni! I started the year studying Bachelor of Education and now switching it up to Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in History and Education and then once I graduate, I'm planning to do a Master's Degree in Librarianship, Archiving and Information Management. It is never too late to learn!!
My daughter is Monica 🤣🤗 last Christmas she had to cook dinner for the first time at 35 (due to Covid) and had a list just like Raya’s. I’m in Scotland so no thanksgiving here but so thankful for my health, I nearly died in 2017 and have been thankful every day since. Such a lovely ‘real’ vlog, thank you both 🤗
Your meal looked deeeeelicious :) I am happy you have each other. I am grateful for my mom. As I'm getting older, I am realizing time with my mom is very precious. I tear up thinking about a time when she won't be in my life anymore. Bless you all.
I think you'd make the best psychologist raya, your personality is very high energy, and sooo calming, and Louis would make a great emotional support man, and I love to cook alot of crazy things, soo watching you guys do it is soo amazing an inspirational 💖
Physiology is such an important study. My therapist literally saved my life when I was so down because I realized I was gay. Having him to talk to turned my thinking around so much. Obviously my parents are very supportive but having that outside party to talk to really helps bring you to center. I’d def go study that. I’m only 25 I’m sure there’s still time.
I left my job in September to go and study for a Masters in wildlife conservation! It's really interesting, it was a big adjustment going back to studying again, but I feel a lot better prepared for it in general than I think I would have been when I was younger. Fingers crossed it pays off! & something I'm grateful for - my amazing family & boyfriend who supported me in going for the above!
Thankful for life and what it offers in nature and people. I am also grateful that I have the opportunity to live vicariously through you as you build your life with the love for our earth and how important is to protect it. Thank you.
I went to college right after high school to study something I'd had no experience with. so, big surprise, it didn't work out. About five, six years later went back for a general arts and sciences diploma, got it, then went immediately into another program which I graduated from but again, it didn't lead to work. About 20 yrs later I found myself working in child care and loving it. I hadn't gone to school for it but found a program online that allowed me to keep working at my centre and earning an early childhood educator diploma. That happened when I was 46 and it was a great decision.
I'm a graduate student at Princeton! I worked for a few years before going back to school and love being back in the academic environment. Super cool that you guys visited campus--the yellow tree Louis pointed out is my favorite tree on campus :)
I recommend a hand held immersion blender and a small instant pot if you can. You will have an easy mashing tool for potatoes, a way to give vegan soups different textures, you can make salmorejo if tomatoes are on the outs and stale bread abounds...and dried beans can be cooked without soaking. all saves money & time. Great channel!
I'm a Master's student at NYU! Waited a few years after undergrad, but I wanted more and I'm so glad I went back for my degree in Quantitative Management.
First off,, the leaves!!! Gorgeous. 💛🧡❤ The campus!!! I would love to go back to school. I love learning. I would go back and study American History. I love our Beautiful Country and History always seemed boring to me when I was younger. Not now, in these troubled times. But psychology, no. I'm a great listener and Friend to some good people. ❣ They seem to entrust me with telling me their challenges. So, I'm already a 'psychologist' to those I love. Happy Thanksgiving! Like your little traditional dindin! I'm Grateful for my Family and Health.
Regarding the education bit--there are many ways to continue one's education without doing the Full Monty--going back to college and getting a degree. In the years after graduating college, I took many college extension courses in the evenings after work. Now, all these many years later (I'm in my 70s), I sometimes take online classes through One Day University. I've learned about the history of Broadway musicals, and also the history of food in the U.S. I'm about to take a class on the history of West Side Story (are you noticing a theme here?), which will happen one day before I see the new Steven Spielberg version of that movie. I love this new way of learning, with no pressure to study or get good grades. It's just learning for the sheer love of learning. One thing I'm grateful for: improved health, after being almost 100% housebound for over 20 years.
I understand you completely. I actually went back to school after 11 years. I had my bachelor degree in statistics and now I am studying visual arts in Buenos Aires and I love it. It is true that in those 11 years when I didn't use my degree, I got to know myself better and understood what I really like, were less controlled by the fear and other people opinions when I was deciding to change my specialisation. By the way, for both degrees I didn't/ don't have to pay. If you want it, do it! There is always some option of free education. Mine was Argentina. Highly recommend!
I AM DOING GRAD SCHOOL AT PRINCETON AND HOW DID I MISS YOU GUYS!!!??? And I totally understand liking school lol. It’s a lot of work, but it can also be quite fun and rewarding. Princeton fully funds its PhD students, so we technically get paid for doing 5 more years of school. It’s pretty awesome!
oh my goodness i literally NEEDED this video today 😭 i swear i say a version of this every week, nothing is better when you’re having a bad day then getting to sit back and laugh with raya and louis!! thank you :) ps. i am 1000% a mix of both of you guys. my heart wants to wing it but my brain wants to plan absolutely everything haha

YUM! I'm no vegan but that meal you two made looks DELICIOUS- and Louis's right that you can't 'un-add' salt when cooking. Moreover, salt increases the cooking time so it's best to use it sparingly (like the minimum of what recipes call for) then have diners add at the table as per their individual tastes. I'm thankful that my mother's still in this world and with me! Princeton sure is beautiful and how lucky to spot the eagle! Thanks for this video!
Can't believe you were in Princeton. I went to Rider University about 10 minutes down the road. We would always go into Princeton to hang out. I lived in that area for 20 years. It really is a gorgeous campus, especially in fall and spring. Thanksgiving is a holiday when I would happily go meat free. I love all the sides!!!!
Louis, a general American term for pasta of any shape is "macaroni." This probably goes back 60 years or more (it predates me, so I'm not sure how far back). When Kraft invented boxed macaroni and cheese, any shape of pasta that wasn't a straight noodle was called macaroni, so mac and cheese became the term for the dish, no matter what shape the pasta is.

If i were younger, i would take a higher degree, but i have kids and it would also mean i would have to move to another country, so not so easy anymore :) Greetings from Norway, love your videos!!
I had always wanted to get my masters degree, if only to prove to myself that I was good at something. I have actually considered this plan several times, but the timing wasn't right, or I simply couldn't afford to do it. However, two years ago, at the age of 59, I enrolled in an online MFA program offered through Academy of Art University based in San Francisco. This is the first school that I considered for my master's degree. However, at the time I looked into their program, they didn't have an online degree. Fast forward 20 years, now their online degrees rival any other university. I absolutely love being an adult student again. My main goal for pursuing my MFA now is teaching. I feel that it's important to give back to the graphic design community, and teaching is one way to do that. I envision teaching as my semi-retirement career. I enjoy taking classes with students from all over the globe. They bring their own cultural backgrounds and experiences, which enriches the classroom experience for everyone. So the point of my comment is this: It's never too late to learn something new.

You can now go to school. You know with on line classes you could study just about anything. There are many life coaches out there. You could do life coaching on line
I have a Masters in Sp. Ed. So grateful. So worth it. 2 or 3 years though. ALso - grateful for your awesome vids at the wildlife park in Africa. So amazing!!!!!
I waited seven years after high school graduation to go to college. Single mom of two kids. Hard, but two good examples. Mom was a waitress for twenty years before returning to school to become a nurse and sister went two college five years after high school to become a teacher. I majored in Economics. Fifteen years later started working on a Master's in Human Resources, but never finished. Now, I am retired and enjoying every bit if it. Go back to school, you can do it online for the most part. You won't regret it.
Oh Raya I feel the same way! I was literally just looking into grad school at the Seattle School for Theology and Psychology. As a homeschooling mom of three living in Europe now there are lots of barriers to me going back to school. So grad school sadly won't be in my near future plans but I've looked into other ways to continue education. Good luck.
I love school so much I haven't left yet! 2022 will be my 7th year of post secondary! I will be in my final year of my MA in communication & technology! After that I still have about 6 courses of a web design certificate! There's just so much to learn about! But man, masters programs are SO different than undergrad & challenge you in so many ways!
I am definitely like Louis. My husband was like Raya and he drove me nuts. By the time he finished his list and double checked everything, I had finished the task. 🙂
LOVE Princeton! Same with the Montclair area! I used to live in NYC and would commute there for work and it was like two different worlds. Also if you're considering going back to School Raya, I highly recommend it- I'm currently getting a Master's in Education after a nearly 8 year gap between Undergrad. I went from wanting to be a writer and now I teach in public schools and wouldn't have it any other way :)
If the foil used for the “turkey” is non-stick, shiny side should always face the pan, dull side up facing you. As it carries chemicals from tilling & milling. Hope that helps 😊 food looks great! Brussels Sprouts are one of my faves I have a few recipes😋 can’t wait for the next video post!
For thanksgiving I make a beautiful salad out of brussel sprouts and kale with a lemon dressing. That would have definitely helped to relieve some of your stove top and pot washing woes.
I’m really thankful for you both and for sharing positive videos, Also Thankful for the ability to work make money to have a roof over my head. And my family and friends.
I have an Honours degree (post-grad) in Social and Cultural Anthropology. 😊 I'm sure you two would love it too. ✌🏼 Keep up the great work. I love your videos. ❤️ Best regards from Wellington, New Zealand 🇳🇿
Tata I have the same mug and it holds 2 cups of liquid volume! I was crying everytime you kept reading “1/2 cup of tahini.. 1/2 cup of milk” 😂😂 I think you guys deserve a set of measuring cups and a potato masher! Go to Walmart they are like $1! Also a tip to cook mashed potatoes is to start them in cold water in a pot. Once it reaches a boil with the potatoes in then turn it off and let them sit for 5 extra minutes and they will be perfect. It will also save you guys on energy for the bus!
You too are so funny! I’m not much of a cook but I’d invest in measuring cups before a potato masher. I love his concern regarding the “essence” aka shape of the Mac n cheese! Did he ever notice that more Brussels sprouts weren’t made??
This is actually one of the funniest/best vlogs😂 you’re personalities are so naturally quirky and cute together 😂 raya cooking away and Louis taste testing mashed potato’s 😂

Graduating from nursing school next week - went back to school at 40 something and am so happy! Go for it Raya, the world could use your talents!

I am thankful for these videos because they bring me great joy
I waited seven years after high school graduation to go to college. Single mom of two kids. Hard, but two good examples. Mom was a waitress for twenty years before returning to school to become a nurse and sister went two college five years after high school to become a teacher. I majored in Economics. Fifteen years later started working on a Master's in Human Resources, but never finished. Now, I am retired and enjoying every bit if it. Go back to school, you can do it online for the most part. You won't regret it.
What a beautiful fall walk! As the cook in my family, I can relate when Raya said she wasn't kidding about cooking more Brussels sprouts 😂
Good luck.
Amazing, good luck! Hope you get to do it soon ☺️
I am currently getting my masters in psychology! It’s the best decision I’ve made and I love actually enjoying school and soaking in everything!
I love learning and would love to go back to school if I had the opportunity!
you would make THE BEST life coach!
That's a falcon also you guys are an inspiration, love this video!
Maybe a Red Tail Hawk. It's tail was definitely red.
Beautiful capture.
I am definitely like Louis. My husband was like Raya and he drove me nuts. By the time he finished his list and double checked everything, I had finished the task. 🙂
I’m thankful for my family
Raya making facial expressions to the camera when Louis wanted to cook the second batch of Brussels sprouts cracked me up 😀 great video as always ❤
You did great on putting yur meal together Raya!! 👍💕💖💕💖💕👍
Thank you!
@@RayaandLouis 👍
Best Thanksgiving on the road yet! Cheers guys! Much love
Every time you guys upload a new video I get so inspired and positive. I love it. Brightens my day every time. Thank you❤️
LOVE Princeton!
What I am most thankful for in life (presently) = my husband
☺️❤️
If the foil used for the “turkey” is non-stick, shiny side should always face the pan, dull side up facing you. As it carries chemicals from tilling & milling. Hope that helps 😊 food looks great! Brussels Sprouts are one of my faves I have a few recipes😋 can’t wait for the next video post!
I’m thankful for my kidney transplant function was 90 % (working) and my little family and miracle daughter! (I know I picked more than one!)
Im thankful for my incredible husband 💗🙂 I get to see him in one week!!❤️😊 (he is in Georgia for training in the army)
For thanksgiving I make a beautiful salad out of brussel sprouts and kale with a lemon dressing. That would have definitely helped to relieve some of your stove top and pot washing woes.
Ohh that sounds amazing! 😍
I started my BA at 27 and finished at 31 (4 year course) DO IT get that masters!!!!!
I did my BA in American Studies (3 year at my UK uni and 1 year at LSU in Baton Rouge)
The meal looks amazing. Today I am thankful for the ability to do whatever I want in this life
I’m really thankful for you both and for sharing positive videos,
Also Thankful for the ability to work make money to have a roof over my head. And my family and friends.
I love you guys. Best thing I like with Louis is that he makes my veggie chopping skills not seem so bad 👍
Monica and Chandler. lol I love it!
Hahah 😂
I am thankful for my health and stability in my life
You can make a really good gravy with vegetable broth, mushrooms, flour, thyme rosemary, etc. Tastes just like regular
I have an Honours degree (post-grad) in Social and Cultural Anthropology. 😊 I'm sure you two would love it too. ✌🏼 Keep up the great work. I love your videos. ❤️ Best regards from Wellington, New Zealand 🇳🇿
Definitely a list maker, while hubby is like Louis
I really miss school too! It’s definitely in my plans to go back and do a Master’s. Probably in Industrial Engineering.
You guys bring out the humour in each other! Such a fun video:)
Aww this was so feelgood! I loved it.
I think I'm right between the personality of Louis and Raya.
I love to plan and make lists but then end up winging it halfway through the process.
Oh that’s so me 🤦♀️😂
I’m grateful you made, edited and posted this video for our enjoyment 🤩😂 loving reading all the comments now it’s hilarious 😂 😂
You too are so funny! I’m not much of a cook but I’d invest in measuring cups before a potato masher. I love his concern regarding the “essence” aka shape of the Mac n cheese! Did he ever notice that more Brussels sprouts weren’t made??
Raya, you would make such an amazing psychologist!
I listen to hidden brain too. As well as stuff you should know, stuff they dont want you to know etc
All those info podcasts are so great
Ohh haven’t heard of the other ones! Will check them out ☺️
4:50 that was a Red-Tailed Hawk, not an eagle, still a very beautiful bird.
Its 11pm and I got hungry seeing you guys eat!😩
U guys are a beautiful couple
Thanks Greg!
Thank you for sharing your vegan Thanksgiving meal. Looks delicious 🤤. Great job cooking Chef Raya 👩🏻🍳
