Damn... 25K for that van sounds like a great deal. That was one of my favourite builds on the channel. I'll echo the chorus here and say that I want Steven back. The channel just isn't as much fun without him.
Considering the limited info of his accident I'd bet there's a whole lot of legal and medical reasons why he can't be seen working on camera at the same location of the accident. These things can take years but there's a chance at settlement so we may still see him back.
You all need to accept he isn’t here now and won’t be for a undetermined time. It is what it is, I understand dude was a great addition but y’all need to let it go. 😂😂
If you don't have oil restrictors to your turbos, that is where your smoke is coming from. If you do. They need to be smaller! Too much oil pressure to the turbos..
Very cool! I have a suggestion. Move the intercooler radiator against the radiator so the fans for the radiator will also pull air through the intercooler radiator. For that NACA duct to work, you are going to need some significant road speed to get cooling air over that intercooler radiator through the NACA duct. The radiator fans would be much better and maybe a bigger intercooler radiator. Love the way this sounds.
Also, motorcycles use sequential constant mesh transmissions which don't require the clutch to shift. Sometimes you have to back off the throttle just for a second, but your speed shifter should accommodate this by cutting the ignition for a tiny second.
I had one of those "auto shifters" on a 2004 R1 and it was insane. You don't have to use the clutch with that shifter.. You just keep it pinned wide open and shift on the fly and it will cut the computer for a split second, which takes the load off the drive train: and lets it shift without ever using the clutch at all. It makes it sound exactly like an F1 indy car. Crisp shifting and the engine never stops screaming... Just keep it above 4k RPM's at least-- because these engines have very little torque-- so You have to keep the engine screaming a bit to get the power out of her.
That is actually a really cool idea for a Hybrid vehicle. Electric up front & Gas in the rear. It can be all wheel drive when needed & switch to re-gen mode when the battery gets low.
volvo PHEVs are basically this, but backwards. ICE engine up front, electric motor in the rear, no driveshaft connecting the two (because the battery lives in the trans tunnel). when running pure electric they're RWD only, or AWD when the gas engine runs.
Interested to see a more detailed explanation on how the system is eventually configured: how does the electric side react to the throttle pedal position etc. 👍⚡
between your busa counter sprocket and rear end, someone in the rive line chain, make a buffer cushion, it will save that trans and other engine hard parts.. if you cut a tire in half like when its laying down? cut it in half, then cut 4 4-4" sections out of it then cut the bead off about 2" up each side, then you need a disk plate on both ends, one on the drive out end and one in the rear end in side of the drive shaft, so you will cur like a 3-4" section out of the drive line, with 2 disks say 10" diameter drill 4 sets of 2 holes spaced apart according to how wide you cut your tire sections out? then drill the tire sections out each side up from the bead the two holes each sire and bolt the 4 sections you cut out of the tire one side to the rear end disk and the other to the engine output shaft disk... so you will have 4 C shaped rubber cushions that will act like sprocket carrier cush drives... in essence you are making a drive line in line cush drive, it will smooth out vibrations and be easier on shifts up and down.. this guys makes one here fora boat, you can refine it obviously but this is hat you want cush wise ... watch?v=zHny--3W9Ik
When using the air shifter or auto shifter use don’t use the clutch. You can use an MPS kill box to cut the spark or a raptor kill system which is better. Don’t kill the fuel or it may detonate and mess up some of your internals. You always wanna kill spark
I am guessing the hood flew up and bent. I drove a vw rabbit diesel. We tied it down with dog chain that we left too long and it dragged on the ground. That old rabbit had more dents than a squished beer can... more goth than my all black 400k mile gmc. Add some pure carbon stains to that. I love this build.. it is like watching revenge as a daydream.
Orginally i did this project on a honda civic hatch.. same weight as the truck.. but i scraped the gsxr for a 170hp 1.2… 4 stroke.. vfr 1200.. with.. let me add.. vtec.. and turbo…. The gsxr was nice to me but the vfr was cheaper bike with vtec and more options for myself.. the. The gsxr whxih looked lame super fast after finish..
Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to build something like this. High revving bed mounted 4cyl, combined with electric fwd, makes so many tuning profiles for traction and acceleration, and that makes it the coolest car/truck/monster on the internet right now.
The smoke makes me think about turbos that have issues with the drain line (restricted) (another comment says it could be from too much input pressure, too, which is similar)
Great episodee. I'd try to find a solution that doesn't involve clutchless changes. The gearbox is always going to be the most fragile part of the powertrain, as it has been built down to a minimal weight, and designed to deal with the weight of a bike - not a car (no matter how light).
My friend has a cooper mini with a turbo Hayabusa engine, 1360 I think it is pushing maybe 400 horse, I'm not sure. His exhaust is underneath. He does a lot of solo trips in it. With the added gas tank, he has a 500+ mile range on tiny tanks. Painted it day glow neon green with black strips, and he has LED's running underneath. The reason he said is he didn't want to get squashed. haha. He has room for a very large ruck sack. The last time I spoke to him he is adding on a sleep pod to the top of the car
I'm not building a turbo Hayabusa caddy hybrid, I know my opion really matters. If you are able to program in a spark interrupt vs fuel cut it'll be better for the engine during shifts.
How did you solve the problem of manual transmissions needing to be lubricated? While not running the gas engine or electric motor they will be starved of lubrication.
A good question. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the Hayabusa can answer, but if it is anything like a car transmission, the gears moving is often what picks up oil. There are some manuals that use an oil pump though, and there are some that have parts that can be starved for oil if towed, so this is a very good question to ask
Isn't that why trucks with the upright exhausts have those little flaps on them? If anything can go in and get yot he turbo it could be bad, worse than rain what if some road debris gets in there?
Instead of switch what about using relays and a audrino if gas is at a % of throttle or if breaks are energized(for regen if available) and if reverse is asked for then engage in reverse? Could add some very simple and interesting hybrid to it through some simple coding.
That van's a steal at 25K - wish I was in the market for a reasonably priced RV. The "WABBITT" is coming along nicely for a EV in disguise as a pickup masquerading as a sportbike.😁 P.S. How's Stevon doing since the accident? Sure do miss his skills and clever repartee.

Need to put a big decal on the hood of Elmer Fud and Bugs Bunny, the Wascally Wabbit. Also I havent paid too much attention to all the details but if you are running an air shifter, cant you combine it with a dynojet quick shifter and a dynojet pcv/auto tune? This allows WOT clutchless shifts and tuning. That way Rich can get his clutchless shifting and no bogging!
@@rustler08 since I was young whenever I saw an oncoming vehicle with only one headlight in the dark of the night I subconsciously assumed it to be some sort of motorcycle rather than a car/truck running on only one. That part of the video instantly reminded me of back then..

I notice a lot of stuff like this and it's clear people on the team have a lot of experience and do much research.
