I remember this Blizzard. I was a City Bus Operator in 1983.Less than a year on the job. It started snowing in the early afternoon and didn't stop till the next morning. The forecast was a little iffy. They said it might miss us.It didn't 18inches I believe. It took me a least 4 hours to get from City Hall to 96th street. And I think a week later we got hit with another one. The Subways were still running.

I remember this storm. A bunch of friends who worked together laughed at the weather forecast and we all trooped down to our favorite Indian restaurant Mitali East on 6th street (which I'm sad to see has recently closed) for dinner. When we got out a couple of hours later, we discovered the city was paralyzed. I managed to find my way over to the Port Authority and got a bus home to New Jersey where I lived at the time. Or so I thought. Ended up spending the night on the bus stuck in the snow in Weehawken or someplace like that.

Canadians must be watching this and rolling laughing! I remember the winters of 93, 94 and 96, the last two of which had so many NorEaster storms, dumping snow, storm after storm after storm, dropping so much snow on the Tri-state region. I actually took photos of the blizzard of March 1993, as it covered my sedan.
In the winters of 1994 and 1996, I hardly got out of my Timberland boots from January to April. By the following January, I had moved to Los Angeles.

Remember this day quite well too. Was in 3rd grade and I remember because I had a doctor's appointment to remove some stitches which was like going on an excursion into the arctic. Also, my father had to pick up my aunt from the airport and it took him half a day to get from Brooklyn to JFK and back. Not a joke. Even to this day he still talks about how the only thing that saved him from being stranded that day was the '73 Chevy Impala he had at the time which he bought from a salesman and the car was equipped with all wheel drive and a heavy duty transmission to deal with all types of weather. Even with that he barely made it back and the radiator gave out right as he was exiting the Brooklyn Queens Expressway fortunately walking distance to our home. If I remember correctly we got over 3 feet of snow that storm. Sorry for the long message.

We moved to Tampa from Chicago in 2013. We had to go out and stand in the Sun for a few minutes to knock the chill off. It's 75 degrees here today on Nov 15th.
