*From a couple of resources I've checked, including the car's sales brochure, SE models come standard with the V6 engine and alloy rims, neither of which the car in this video has, even though it has "SE" badging. Feel free to clarify what the case is here, if you know. (Different options for fleet/rental cars? Brochures came out before the car's trims/options were finalized? Not sure here.)

It's really nice to see a Ford vehicle from the late 90's in such a great condition as Ford (and by extension Lincoln and Mercury) weren't shy about utilizing curvaceous exterior styling on their vehicles during this time period. A Ford Escort or Ford Contour (and by extension the Ford Escort ZX2, Mercury Tracer and Mercury Mystique) were especially great commuter cars because they weren't gas guzzlers. With regards to the 1996-1999 model year Ford Taurus (and its stablemate the Mercury Sable) they were great despite their overly curvaceous exterior styling that was too radical for a lot of people in the mid to late 1990's and I personally like them considering pickup trucks, SUVs and crossovers are the norm these days.

This is an exceptionally rare car, like almost as rare as a cng contour.

@claudespeed277 Exceptionally rare is a ridiculous exaggeration.

@2H2521 I'm referring to its rarity by its options, that combination in itself is rare. Not the car itself, tho its also becoming scarce. Aside from my old one, I've only seen one contour in the past year. Big piles of junk from the moment they drove off the lot. Bet u haven't seen one in a while either.

My 1st car was a 1998 Ford Contour SE in light denim blue color. It was a good car to drive. My sister said it was an ugly car. It wasn’t towards me. That car had everything that I wanted back then. My sister had a 1997 Ford Escort ZX2 back then when I had the Contour.

As long as your Ford Contour stopped when you wanted it to as well as blowing cold air in the summer and warm air in the winter at least it worked for you. I enjoy watching videos on Ford vehicles from the mid to late 1990's because they weren't shy about utilizing curvaceous exterior styling on vehicles during this time period.

Please no one by this car I feel so bad for the dealer but these cars are guaranteed headache most likely you'll buy it and within 3 years the transmission will fail. if someone does buy it do trans fluid change not flush pan change and pray it makes it through the next 1k miles and then you have a chance of it lasting a good few years a chance fords fwd automatics are some of the most unreliable transmissions ive ever seen the rear wheel drive ones are fine the fwd i avoid like the plague every single fwd drive ford my family or any of my friends have ever had have all been lost to transmission failure and if not given up on the first they usually are on the second failure and these are not abused cars...
