Race issues will always be an issue in the UK ( as much as they like to pretend they are more free of it than America) one which is why I stopped watching. There was always a weird vibe around the black girls specifically (as in they always ended up bullied or pushed to the side). The Love Island USA cast this year no one really allowed black girls to be bullied the whole season ( besides that weird Connor HATING Janas guts spat ). I think LiUSA was successful because most people from the cast have main character energy.everyone had something interesting about them and the stories did not revolve around the same people
i think what really helped love island gain popularity and also keep it is that the drama didnt end when the contestants left the villa. there was caine, airing out the all the productions secrets. next there was Andrea being just really weird and rude on live and aftersun, and then when Daia was still in the villa people found comments of her under OBJ's tweets. i feel like people liked the fact that they could interact with the contestants, even more than usual.
As a Brit I cannot believe I’ve found something I’ve enjoyed watching as much as series 5 of uk love island. Usa season 6 was soooo good. The casting was just fab so the islanders matched and clashed so well
unpopular opinion: I love the intro. Sure it's a bit chessy and unexpected but it kinda grows on you, especially after finishing the season and knowing the cast.
the friendships defo have a big part in this season success, u can tell they all like each other and between the girls even liv and leah who fought sometimes had a great relationship and the friendships really shined esp during casa bc they were all there for eachother, not to mention women like leah , jana, serena and liv who always stood on business and were amazing tv which made them most followed like they all have a 1 million or more on instagram😭😭
I loved seeing all the girls stand on business because some of the boys could get really manipulative. The girls actually liking and forming genuine friendships amongst each other did this season a favour. Also something that I liked was how you could tell the top 3 couples didn’t seem to care about winning but were actually happy in their couple (side eyeing Kendall and Nicole)
@@ambershoba fr liv making sure aaron wouldn’t gaslight kaylor, them just always defending eachother was greattt, the girlhood really shined this season and the top 3 too, they all seem like they genuinely were expecting kendall and nicole to win and they seemed really genuine and actually liked eachother alot
clicked so fast! it's so interesting to watch this as an American who has watched your content for years. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness when it comes to analyzing different facets of culture. I'm so curious to see what the future of Love Island looks like, especially since your last video on the show essentially deemed it over.
Love island UK are too quick to dump islanders. Like let them have a chance omg! And they make the excuse that it’s because there “aren’t enough beds” but if that’s the case get a bigger villa. This season was shockingly bad, just people repeating things for weeks on end.
Seriously, how much money the show has made they network. They can afford a bigger villa. Why are they acting so cheap for their main ratings show. In the US, if the show is a money maker. Money is getting put behind it immediately
@@jacquelinelugo5518 exactly! Someone is hoarding money behind the scenes because with the amount of ads and product placement every five minutes, they can most definitely afford a bigger and better villa and actual challenges outside the villa. The USA villa put the UK one to shame, everyone eavesdropping in the UK villa and it messes with the storylines.
@Ayanaah-ke1nz Facts, like even the South African villa during the winter season was bigger. So either, they need to look for another country in Europe, or go look for a bigger villa in Spain. Cause even Australia Love Island is doing more with way less than them
I really believe that that a huge part of why the show was so good this season was because they really showed alot of some of the raw emotion and even the uglier sides of people that can come out that the UK use to have. But the UK lost this aspect because of the suicides that happened. The show was never quite the same after those deaths and it producers started to sanitize the show for ads and sponships that it really took away from the stuggles the islanders feel in those intense situations. And it sucks to see that we cant get real and raw without the toxicity that come from fans cause you can see the online bullying is very intense this year, but in that same aspect i feel like americans are more use to lie and deceit on reality tv due to the shows we watch so im hoping they are built tougher to handle the online criticism. And also the reason that people go on the show is also no longer genuine. The UK cast people who very obviously are looking for fame so its hard to feel for them sometimes cause sometimes we dont even believe theyre there for the right reasons. Anyway I wont be expecting too much from season 7 next year your bound to be disappointed if you think next season will top or match, Ill treat this season like a 1 hit wonder. I have a feeling that the popularity of the show is going to invoke the changes that happened in the UK to the USA like fake personalities etc.
right no matter what happens for season 7 in the usa version i feel like it's on the casting department hands whether the actual islanders will be there for love or fame. also people these days have dramatic obsession and feel so much attachment to what they see so i feel like some will definitely drop season 7 because of how good s6 was. i do want to hope good but i wish they get the right people and this is also why the casting department is really hard.
Rob was the stand out star for me because the drowning in the fucking pool, the Andrea dumping oh my fucking god DRAMA QUEEN!!!! I’m glad the producers kept him until the end. Dude is just wild as fuck
I just wish the rise of LI USA didn’t attract so many toxic, nasty people cosplaying as fans. People have and will talk their sh*t but this season was...different. I’ve been a fan of the UK version since 2019 and I’ve never seen reactions this dramatic and unhinged in my life. The crazy parasocial relationship behaviors and abusive harassment so many of these islanders faced and are still facing is honestly concerning, idgaf what some of them did. It soured the experience of this show tbh. Way too many people did not understand the casa amor concept thats been a thing since the beginning of the franchise. The whole point for a casa girl to be there is to make a connection with one of the guys regardless of his status, that’s how it works. It’s up to the guy if he wants to stay loyal/respectful (vice versa). But people were acting like they unalived their dog! Like wtf is in the air lately?!?! It was NOT that serious. 💀 Amazing video btw, just subscribed!❤️
@@claudetteriley5963how would Rob know what Uma did if they were both in their own villa. Girl stop, this season of love island uk sucked everyone agrees with this statement. Love island us did they big one!
LI UK need to stop using producer plants and washed up celebs and focus on actual good casting not the typical archetypes the black girl, guy the five blonds, the square head mixed race guy with the square head the" sweet guy " who no one likes. Just get interesting people and you will do well.
I think where the show has gone it doesn’t even matter if you cast interesting people - those people are still going to mute their personalities to avoid backlash.
@ngweso Martin from I forgot the season said that the producers would always call him to the beach hut and would tell him not to act a certain way or to speak a certain way because it won't translate well to the viewers, which then just made him shut up and wait till he gets dumped. Summer from Dami's season also said the same thing and that's why they weren't shown too much on their seasons. Whereas the US, you have fiery people like Liv, Leah, Serena and even the sweet hearts like Kaylor and JaNa that weren't afraid to be who they are.
@@pastelpastry yeah exactly thats what I was getting at. Now it’s gotten to the point that cast members already know they drill so they go into the show expecting to sanitize their appearance. British reality TV overall just lacks the authenticity and messiness that makes American reality TV good. We are too diplomatic
Rob doesn’t have a fake accent. He’s from one of the most southern states in the US. He does code switch because having a southern accent doesn’t have the best reputation in the US, especially with the current political climate As far as the bullying this season, those are the VPR fans. The LI USA discourse has never been this toxic. The vast majority of the fans that has watched USA before this season also watch the UK version and are very aware of what went on over there.
i was a die hard UK fan for years but fell off in recent seasons. i randomly tapped into this US season after being a hater for years thinking I only liked LI for the british charm, but I fell in loveeeee with this season. and i feel like you articulated all my reasons why in this video lol
Do it. I was way too stubborn to switch over because I wanted to be loyal to the UK version but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Looking back I can’t believe I wasted my time watching Joey island when I could’ve been watching the US version instead and been more thoroughly entertained.
@@pamelabetances143literally me !! Was so shocked how perfect Us version was this year coming from an American myself I’ve always watched Uk version 😂😂
I absolutely agree that the stick or twist game should have been the lead in to Casa. I feel like it would have made the most sense. I also heard on a podcast that the girls had a different description of the game than the guys did and that’s why some couples didn’t stay when they otherwise would have.
Love Island UK is also struggling bc it’s clear the UK audience doesn’t like to deviate from type casting and “blonde hair blue eyes/tall dark and handsome”. Its clear after s10 and how fiat 500 hated the diversity and color (lets be honest) of that season, the producers wanted to appease that uproar. S11 was so boring ESPECIALLY compared to US6 bc it’s clear the entire season was type cast and blueprinted rather than letting the islanders lead. From that pain in the ass that was joey, to the pushing of ciaran and nicole being the perfect brit couple,to the gimmick dumpings (i’m still not over not having Sam on my screen for at least a week) they wanted to go back to those familiar roots that just don’t hold up anymore. Uk also has the issue of, and i pray the next US season doesn’t start with this, casting influencers over ordinary people. Also, the US version has a lot more raw moments. For example seeing more of the recouplings or showing them having random convos rather than just sticking to a formula when it comes to the structure of an episode. In turn, letting islander come off less uniformed if that makes sense. I could go on and on but uk has lost its footing and hopefully they went to the drawing board after seeing how a proper season of the show should be executed.
I’m one of those people that only started watching because Ariana became the host and became fully OBSESSED. It was a perfect show and now I’m watching the past seasons on peacock(LOVED season 5 US!) and trying to plan which UK seasons to watch. I’ll take any season recs!
For a recent good season for UK I would recommend season 10 (the one from last year) it had alot of big characters on that season, then another one that could be worth the watch would be season 5 which is older but good and if you wanna take a look back into the old love island UK where it was alot more raunchy/raw season 2 could be good. Oh and also one that isn't that old yet is season 8 of UK that was pretty good too. Have fun watching USA season 5, it was pretty decent .👍
I saw a tiktok of kordell telling nicole about his tattoo of his grandmas favourite animal or her tattoo maybe something but the blue butterfly and then the next day serena had a blue butterfly bikini on.. those two are kindred spirits
Honestly this season of ll surpasses all versions of love island this is definitely my season out of all the franchises it was so entertaining from beginning to end and the people didn’t feel like they were playing it safe in order to deep the benefits of being on love island
LOVE ISLAND PRODUCERS PLS WATCH THIS VIDEO AND TAKE NOTE!!! u rly pointed out alllll the most entertaining aspects of this season! I can't wait to see what they do for s7 🤩
I love how you speak on reality tv in general your knowledge and point of view is similar to mine. Also Harry from the traitors that’s one of my favorite seasons of reality tv to exist. That season is perfection. Traitors uk is eons better than us and traitors New Zealand also great
Exactly! that is why they needed to do a celebrity one with Phaedra to shake things up. I knew she was not going to win because of the same reasons as the UK reality shows treat certain races.
What about the Deals/Partnerships?Serena & Kordell already partnered with Spotify for Music playlists,Fashion houses, haircare, food brands etc. How is it in the UK for the Winners?
OMGGGG thank you for this video, i completely get the hype over Jana and Leah, but i did find myself gravitating towards Serena, Kaylor and Aaron, which like i now know is more like UK audiencess!! that is so cool to find out, and makes sense bc i do not share many of the views majority of ppl on social media do, who are obv mostly american.
Also don’t forget Love Island Games I only really started watching love island usa when I saw that show. Also Ariana Madix also hosted on Li games which was soo good!
I've always preferred UK because of the humour and I'm english so I automatically fw uk humour but love island US was pretty good too I was laughing a bit 😭
I can only imagine how much better the season would have been if they stopped shoving Kaylor/Aaron as well as Rob in our faces. They also should have aired unseen bits of the Casa Amour recoupling instead of Aftersun which it seems like most of the audiences skipped
I personally love both. LI UK is the OG babe to me. I miss LI UK when it first started when it was less censored but the seasons were long as hell but now seeing how much was cut out of LI US i kind of miss lol I honestly only started watching the US one once they started including black people. Im from the US so I love the accents on UK but its cool that we still get UK ppl on US but then again I feel its kind of unfair to US applicants. Also. RIP to the OG host Caroline Flack, I just found out this year that she took her own life and was so heartbroken. I love Ian too, he is the cherry on top. it was "PPG back on top!" for me. I say I miss the longer episodes because I got left with so many questions this season but im happy they love interview attention lmaooo they spill all the tea on these interviews.
This is my first time watching Love Island and I refuse to watch any other seasons or counties bcs everyone says this season was the best w/ that being said THEY BETTER GET ON THIER ZOOOOM when casting season 7
LI uk s6 was my first taste of the LI universe. 100% agree that the banter, slang and british charm is what drew me to the uk version. s6 of usa ate tho !!!
It's not just the cast, it is totally down to the editing IMHO. In the UK versions, all we ever see are the "chats" which are literally transactional conversations about whether they are each other's type. We see no personality, or fun interaction between the islanders. The UK contestants come off as 2-D cardboard cutouts. In the US version, we are seeing funny clips, arguments, silly stuff, drama... that the things that make the contestants relatable.
I think the only mistake that rob made during his staying in the love island was choosing Leah because Leah is the one that showed his true colours as the manipulator that he is I think he wanted a smart girl and he wanted to really make a genuine connection there but if he was to be with Danielle from the beginning none of his egoism was to be shown because she'll just play the game and allow him whatever
My biggest issue with this season of USA love island is LEAH !!!! I think she's OK, but she's shown herself to be entitled, two faced, spoilt, bitchy and unloyal to her friends. I just feel annoyed that out of all the girls that were great like Serena, Liv and Jana, it's Leah that's the biggest breakout star. I just really don't get the appeal with her. She already had it all and was living in a mansion etc.... I just wish someone else would have got the level of fans and deals, moreover than someone who already had everything she wanted. I'm not jealous or hating at all, I just think she's probably one of the worst characters from this season imo. Could someone explain what it is about Leah? That's so great ? I just don't see it.
Shes funny. All her famous quotes are famous for a reason she was SO hilarious. To be honest. Rob was doing too much with his reaction to the Andrea dumping - it needed to be called out. To me that was a highlight of this season in general. Men being called out for their shit. And on top of that, she was a little two faced early on but later she grew a lot. I felt her apologies were extremely genuine. I dont think she likes hurting people intentionally but some of the hurtful things she says are a gut reaction. Thats another part of her charm. Showing that bitchy side of her but then also showing the sweet side.
Authenticity matters the most to the audience these days, her tone of voice is also alluring just like Fezco from Euphoria. She's very relatable and had memorable quotes. "It's giving white woman scared", "Now you're sending three home", "I don't care what you've heard about me" and so much more. She can be a bitch at times but every one has that side and she was never afraid to show it and it helped her as obviously people liked that. She just gives major IT Girl vibes also just like Maddy Perez from Euphoria (who isn't the best character but is so real you can't hate them even they do some unlikeable things). The one person to be blamed is honestly Rob because if you think about it if Rob didn't act the way he did, Leah would be fine and have no problems in the villa.
I don’t think Leah was a bad friend, she stood behind the girls and defended them and herself. The whole JaNa, Connor and Leah situation was literally beginning of the season she didn’t owe anyone any loyalty at that point, plus turns out Connor is scummy.
@ambershoba No, it wasn't that close to the beginning. Friendships were established by that point. She even did it to Jana when she was mad at Kenny,Leah was bitching to Kenny about Jana and telling him he's done nothing wrong and she isn't acting like Jana. So no, thank you. I stand by what I said.
@A2daM2daZ I didn't find her funny or iconic, she would appeal to certain types of people, but not me. She was two faced throughout the season. I watched it.
that’s why I hate how itv brought back big brother and cbb, it feels so manufactured as well like i stopped watching and everything from that show now ever since being on itv, the members all look like they wanna be famous influencers or make their relevance a bit more famous too.
Wow, hearing that people in the UK were mad at the recent winner of the traitors is crazy. That guy played an amazing game. He was THEE traitor and last one standing in a show called the traitors. It’s literally the point of the game. It’s not like the show is called “the loyals”
Ok. I just tried to watch Love Island Season 11 UK and all the girls sounded like yapping, ditzy Chihuahuas and looked the same . It was so insufferable> literally couldn't watch it. @@smelly1060 oh I came back for Whitney’s season ! But didn’t watch a lot of the seasons before or after her
now kordell ,serena, jana, leah, rob, miguel, liv have 1 million and more which is amazing....im so happy for them
I think LiUSA was successful because most people from the cast have main character energy.everyone had something interesting about them and the stories did not revolve around the same people
i think what really helped love island gain popularity and also keep it is that the drama didnt end when the contestants left the villa. there was caine, airing out the all the productions secrets. next there was Andrea being just really weird and rude on live and aftersun, and then when Daia was still in the villa people found comments of her under OBJ's tweets. i feel like people liked the fact that they could interact with the contestants, even more than usual.
It was popular before Caine got out of the villa. He didn’t help the ratings.
Me too! I can’t find a clip of it anywhere! I want to rewatch it every day 😂. Drop the link if you find it 😅
We deserved Unseen Bits this season!!!
the friendships defo have a big part in this season success, u can tell they all like each other and between the girls even liv and leah who fought sometimes had a great relationship and the friendships really shined esp during casa bc they were all there for eachother, not to mention women like leah , jana, serena and liv who always stood on business and were amazing tv which made them most followed like they all have a 1 million or more on instagram😭😭
I'm so curious to see what the future of Love Island looks like, especially since your last video on the show essentially deemed it over.
no bc why does the spin-off love island have a better plotline please x
They ate so bad
UK love island challenges from this year gave off year 9 vibes like you could tell joey essex was the big budget this year
The final dates was what drew the line for me
Aaron: “kayla”
Kaylor: “earin”
it was never gonna work..
😂😂😂😂😂 honestly this is hilarious
As soon as Sam got dumped from the Island, I stopped watching.
@Ayanaah-ke1nz Facts, like even the South African villa during the winter season was bigger. So either, they need to look for another country in Europe, or go look for a bigger villa in Spain. Cause even Australia Love Island is doing more with way less than them
@9rincesa Yeah once I saw them fight for Ronnie. I was done with the season
I have a feeling that the popularity of the show is going to invoke the changes that happened in the UK to the USA like fake personalities etc.
i agree with everything but i do have hope for s7, the uk seasons were amazing from s5-10 so i kind of feel like the americans can do well too
right no matter what happens for season 7 in the usa version i feel like it's on the casting department hands whether the actual islanders will be there for love or fame. also people these days have dramatic obsession and feel so much attachment to what they see so i feel like some will definitely drop season 7 because of how good s6 was. i do want to hope good but i wish they get the right people and this is also why the casting department is really hard.
also no one ever mentions that the day after jana was saved, kenny walks into the house
i actually love love island usa season 3 😭 ive been watching the uk series forever and the usa is becoming sm better
Amazing video btw, just subscribed!❤️
as soon as you said stream ravyn lenae's new album I immediately knew I would trust whatever you say

konnor outliving HARRIET and UMA is what did it for me
ROB wanting to leave with ANDREA to copy UMA is what did it for me. Aaron love for Rob 🤔😂
They are trying so hard to hang on to that celeb shtick from season 1....forgetting people hated that celeb vacation 😅
exactlyyyyy
this season of love island UK was so disappointing especially when you see how good S10 was
Rob doesn’t have a fake accent. He’s from one of the most southern states in the US. He does code switch because having a southern accent doesn’t have the best reputation in the US, especially with the current political climate
As far as the bullying this season, those are the VPR fans. The LI USA discourse has never been this toxic. The vast majority of the fans that has watched USA before this season also watch the UK version and are very aware of what went on over there.
what the hell are you talking about? code switch? lmaoooo please… nobody code switches a country accent in america weirdo. He’s not gonna choose you
I may be crazy but I hear Robs accent nearly every time he speaks. I don’t think he’s faking or code switching he just doesn’t have a strong accent
@@_.monicao if you look at the more recent interviews and TikTok he’s been doing It’s a lot heavier now.
28:06 STOP THE EDIBLE IS SO ACCURATE
The main difference is in culture to sum it all up
Unfortunately, I’m almost certain love island USA won’t have another season this good for a while 😂
Dance, Stick or Twist was a GREAT challenge idea and i hope they use it or a variation of it next season. I like it
It was savage!! I loved it!
Americans do reality TV better. Period. Love Island was all y’all had, and y’all fumbled that bag too. 😂
i was a die hard UK fan for years but fell off in recent seasons. i randomly tapped into this US season after being a hater for years thinking I only liked LI for the british charm, but I fell in loveeeee with this season. and i feel like you articulated all my reasons why in this video lol
The biggest moment on this season was the dock scene with Serena and kordell
i never laughed so much and so hard in my life 😭😭 this video is everything
you all making me wanna watch the American version now
Do it, it is so good coming from a British person
You really should. It was so brilliant and I have never seen anything like it. UK version is pure trash.
Well done, well researched breakdown. It’s damn near a documentary! 🎉🎉🎉
rob is a theater nerd
@@RickayeCousins thank you!!

This is incredibly entertaining and I am only 15 minutes in and will be watching all of it
I saw a tiktok of kordell telling nicole about his tattoo of his grandmas favourite animal or her tattoo maybe something but the blue butterfly and then the next day serena had a blue butterfly bikini on.. those two are kindred spirits
Honestly this season of ll surpasses all versions of love island this is definitely my season out of all the franchises it was so entertaining from beginning to end and the people didn’t feel like they were playing it safe in order to deep the benefits of being on love island
Thank you for mentioning Caroline Flack throughout the video💫
They did the same thing to Kaylor that they did to Kay Kay last season. They both went back and both left with the guy 😅
this is such a great video, subscribed :3
Watching Ciaran yell at Harriet and everyone stand by made me officially jump ship over to USA
You did that "F Aaron" part funny as hell.
ohh... no other experience will compare to watching love island usa s6 live
we neeeeeeed a big brother deep dive im begging!!!!
Also don’t forget Love Island Games I only really started watching love island usa when I saw that show. Also Ariana Madix also hosted on Li games which was soo good!

24:10 this idea was FIREEE
I've always preferred UK because of the humour and I'm english so I automatically fw uk humour but love island US was pretty good too I was laughing a bit 😭
When he said you are sending 3 home Serenas face was so me like bye bro
Obsessed w leah this season ,,she’s a huge reason so many of my friends tuned in! Bc of the leah/rob thing (ew lol)
Great excellent amazing breakdown!
Lovely video❤

It's Ayo's fault.

Dumping Harriet and Ronnie before Casa tanked UK season 11 for me!
LI uk s6 was my first taste of the LI universe. 100% agree that the banter, slang and british charm is what drew me to the uk version.
s6 of usa ate tho !!!

I hate that he skipped over how he used “entertaining” i.e as coloured… like this was the first szn black ppl won on LIuk
And they were boring just like the rest of the cast 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️
Celebrity love island
I love both shows equally sad when season ended 😅
It's not just the cast, it is totally down to the editing IMHO. In the UK versions, all we ever see are the "chats" which are literally transactional conversations about whether they are each other's type. We see no personality, or fun interaction between the islanders. The UK contestants come off as 2-D cardboard cutouts. In the US version, we are seeing funny clips, arguments, silly stuff, drama... that the things that make the contestants relatable.
Rob crying makes me wanna puke 🤮 lol
Another reviewer that completely ignores Miguel’s existence.. smh
Would have been a brilliant way to show how casting matters cus how did love island uk not get him
how come there was no mention of season 3?
4:01 they didn’t even have casa🙄
I think the only mistake that rob made during his staying in the love island was choosing Leah because Leah is the one that showed his true colours as the manipulator that he is I think he wanted a smart girl and he wanted to really make a genuine connection there but if he was to be with Danielle from the beginning none of his egoism was to be shown because she'll just play the game and allow him whatever
Most of us hated movie night.
Only watched one Love Island ever (can't remember which season, but the one with the girl who is deaf, the Turkish lady, the Italian guy, Dami... you get it)- that one was enjoyable and I found the cast members more likable, but oof. No. Guess I will try the US version---- HOW CAN I STREAM IT FROM THE UK ? :-p
