Given these practical realities, and the added realities of high energy costs, high interest rates etc, perhaps its not surprising that gold mining stocks are not selling like hot cakes, despite the rising gold price. Even niobium, whose main utility is to make superconductive wire, is facing competition from high temperature ceramic superconductors.
