I got this model for a Christmas gift last year, and my unboxing video for it is coming out Friday the 26th of November 2021. I'm also building it as a live stream video series. I came to see your review in case there was some issues with the kit. Thank you for letting me know how you got your model built!
Awesome build. I remember seeing the real vans like this when I was a small boy. I remember my brother and I meeting the Coca Cola Robot at a fruit stand that used to be here where we live many years ago. I wish they would make a model of the Coca Cola Robot.
TC,, That would be great. I remember hearing about the bot but never got see it. Thanks for sharing and please subscribe if you aren't already, to help us reach more model builders! -Doug.
Doug, I've seen this kit recently and I'm glad you built and reviewed it! Phenomenal job Sir! I definitely want to build one. Will be my first van project!
Levi, Very cool! It lends itself to a lot of variations. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas I will absolutely subscribe! I love car models, especially the coca cola ones. I also recommend you do the AMT 53 Ford pickup truck model.
About to do this kit. Recently did other kits in the Coke series from AMT. I too would not recommend any of those kits for beginners as the parts are not numbered and the instructions can be very vague on where some parts have to go and this kit is no exception. Some auto mechanic knowledge is an asset doing these kits.
Lubs, I have to agree but if you lack a degree in auto mechanics, our tutorial reviews can walk you through the construction. Thanks! PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
My suburban Chicago fire department i served at had the 85 ford econoline 350 comand van when i started in spring 1986 same thing as the 77 model but with different grill and headlights it was retired in 2000 due to age
Another great build Doug. I’ve been eyeballing these new coke models from round 2. I’ve got an idea I’m going to do. I am going to build the semi with trailer, cut 2 big lexan viewing windows in the side, then I’m going to build the 2 coke Bobby Allison cars to go inside. Then I’m want to build the rest of the stable of cars, vans & trucks. I love all your coke builds.
I loved these Coke kits. The colors were just so neat. I bought me the 55 Chevy Cameo truck with the Coke decals. Was this kit the base for the Phantom van?
Geo, Always check for compatibility with overcoats before you spray a model. I use a 2 part automotive urethane or simply DupliColor clear for most models. PS - please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
Great job, love your videos, Really inspiring. I'm painting a 57 chevy Nomad. And red and white is the colors I'm using. Should I do like you did and prime the bottom with black primer and white on top? I've heard red can be tricky sometimes .
LS, Short answer YES. Some dreaded red styrene will bleed through your topcoats if you don't use a good quality opaque primer first. I always use black primer on red plastic first and please subscribe if you aren't already, to help us reach more model builders! -Doug.
Ya, Both great kits! You can usually find those on eBay if you're patient and generic ones are at Autoworld www.round2corp.com/product/amt-coca-cola-decal-pack-1-25-scale/ PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Enrique, That's a good question. In the early days of model making the kits were so simple that part numbers weren't needed. Then they started putting them on the parts. Then, after putting the part number near the part's tab, they started "borrowing" parts from similar kits to package a different kit. But when they did that, the part numbers no longer matched, so the cheapest option is to plug off the part numbers. Fortunately, we organize our reviews to show the parts for each section before and after so that you know what the parts look like that go into each sub-assembly. With that information and the instructions, you can tell what parts are needed. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
I have worked on and own a few of these Ford vans so this made my day seeing you build it up so nice.....great kit to bash into some custom versions.

Black primer under red will give you a darker richer red, and it is easier to cover a lighter primer with white.
I just bought this van model kit and the ‘41 Plymouth coupe both coca cola, the van came without the decals any idea where I can get them?
