Hey Sam, great solo show. Check out Bellinger’s career stats. Ever since he came into the league, he’s alternated an elite season and an ok/average one throughout his career (taking out the 2020 pandemic season and the 2021-22 injury plagued seasons). I think there’s a good chance and enough evidence to suggest, he will have a good season next year for the Cubs, if he were to opt in. Keep up the good work!!!
Sam and Matt not sure if you’ve had a show just focusing on clutch hitting and ranking the current team in that category, if not, that would be interesting
Belli is definitely overpaid, but he rarely goes into long slumps. Let's hope he works hard in the off-season to get back to being what he can be. It's highly unlikely that Hoyer is going to do anything big
I have no clue why wisdom keeps getting pinch hit for Busch. Especially in the 6th inning. Wisdom actually has reverse splits this year and Busch actually has solid numbers against lefties just with less power.
@joanshortall7333 If we are rebuilding, I would be fine with bringing up a prospect at the beginning of the season. But Cubs are dying for the Cubs to make the playoffs next year.
I like Belli, but is he worth 30mil? He’s still in his prime, but outfield is not one of our major needs. You could use the money to get a true star, but I doubt Jed will find one. Still need a closer and maybe a catcher, Amaya looks better, but I don’t like him as our number one catcher.
Definitely want Bellinger to come back , the Cubs have rarely had great lefty hitters. Happ , Busch and Belli look really good against righties. We need a big right handed hitter next year
I got a quick one with PCA.. he’s great out in the field and goes balls out but that might come and bite him, we all know injuries happen as we get older and he has had none.. if he keeps going balls out and hopping and jumping around everywhere, full blown sprints around the bases, well guess what? I’m not gonna say it cause I don’t want to jinx it, BUT if it did happen, then what?? Who’s gonna play centerfield? You need Bellinger.. the focus is on PCA.. Cody has a broken finger and is still performing.. he’s worth every penny.. slow it down PCA or you will be on the IL.. it happens to everyone
I like Ballenger's versatility. But one way or another, he's blocking Cassie, who I'd like to see as our RF. That move would put Suzuki as our DH. This would result in either Ballenger OR Busch will have to go. I'd also trade Hoerner and put Shaw at 2B. Of course, we need 1ore really good starter and a real closer. Then I think we'd be the favorite to win the division.
I would sign Bellinger to a 2 year extension. So total 4 years no opt out 100 million. 2nd best average on the team. Low strike out rate. Good defender. Cubs need a closer. This would have solved everything. Over 20 blown saves. Take 10 of those and the Cubs are in the playoffs
I think Cubs need a 3rd or 4th level starter and a very good closer and ideally a big hitter instead of Cody. I think Cody will opt in. Although I love him not sure he's worth what he's getting unless he's nearer MVP form, that said he is a versatile defender. I don't think the cubs overall are scoring enough runs to win a lot of games. I not sure of the stats but must be a lot of games of them scoring under 4. The other area they need to improve is against teams in their division. I'm not sure how you do this (more research or its just been bad luck) but we have a very bad record against NL central teams. The cubs have also lost a lot of close games probably there are too many close games because of lack of offence.
If Cody had 600 ABs right now, it would be interesting to see his numbers. He will stay and that's good. He has had some weird injuries this year. Yes, Isaac leaving runners on by striking out looking is the story of the game and year for Cubs. Players on this team love to watch strike 3. They take the first pitch, not ready to hit. The 2nd pitch, all of a sudden, they are ready to swing. They do swing. The pitch is 4 feet in front of the plate. 0-2. Then a strike 3 called on a pitch that is 1 or 2 in too high. You KNOW it is going to be called strike 3. Only because it has been the other 500 ABs you have had as a player this year. The players remain too stupid and are called out on strikes all the time. Suzuki is the Queen of this affliction. Wisdom on the team, nevermind getting ABs, is a mystery. Craig is also a dumb manager. He's really stupid. He leaves pitchers in and cannot manage a staff. At the end of the day if the Cubs were an aggressive team swinging in hitter's counts instead of just standing there and if they did not have 23 blown saves, they would be a pretty good team. You gotta have smarts and talent to succeed a a unit. Not that smart.
Maybe Nico should leadoff. He's been terrible with RISP this year, hence his 43 RBIs. Even last night he was 3 for 4 and didn't come through the one time with RISP.
PCA should be hitting 1st or 2nd for the rest of the season. And Owen Caissie deserves a call/up. If not, Mo-Baller. Matt Shaw feels like an opening day roster, for his debut.
I live in Des Moines now after growing up in the Chicagoland area, so I’ve gotten to see a few Iowa Cubs games this year. Matt Shaw is the real deal. Caissie is good, very fast but he also strikes out frequently. Moises has looked better in each game I’ve seen. And Kevin Alcantara is a nice player but I just don’t know where you put him in the lineup given our outfield
Its hard to say anything bad about Bellinger, when you know he's probably going to be on the team for the next two years. If pressed i would just assume he would opt out. He's got what 17 homers?
If my memory is correct we all wanted Cody last off season. This year could have been better but he is a really good lefty bat and the Cubs wont spend that 26 million properly anyway
If he does opt out cool that frees up $28 million.. if he decides to opt in? that’s cool too, we can still use the left handed bat and the good glove in RF
Want Bellinger back. We are desperate for bats. He has a proven history of being a pretty good hitter, although has been up and down. Next year could be an up year.
You guys need to hold the Cubs management’s feet to the fire. Their lackadaisical attitude …..“ oh they’ll pay to see a mediocre team” needs to be adjusted by people walking away and refusing to support a losing/poor performing team. Craig Counsell needs to wake up from his nap and manage or go home and sit on his couch. Hoyer and Ricketts need to want to win so that the players will decide that winning is the only option!!
Why do you always fell to mention how Cody is willing to sacrifice his body to make plays, not many in the league willing to do that. ? Dude cracked his ribs this season (lets not forget he was on a tear right before he cracked his ribs)...came back after a month of being out and fought through the pain to play, THEN he got hit in his hand broke some fingers and came back WAY sooner then anyone thought and fought through the pain to play. Dude is a gamer and wants the team to succeed, I'd take a player like that any day of the week. I watch you guys everyday and enjoy listening to you guys, but sometimes you guys just don't make sense or give the full story, which is what you are suppose to do. I feel like you are leaving stuff out of Cody's year intentionally to jade it to make it the way you want.
Wisdom is a cheap power bat that doesn’t get enough opportunities. When he did in the kc series he hit 2bombs. He is worth it on this team more than mastro
Honestly, thought about this the other day. Pitching is what it is, and we'll see. As I wrote about earlier, PCA, Amaya, Busch...not the same players they were at the start of the season. So, to me, CF, C, 1B, not concerns for next year. Bellinger, I'd say, either don't pick up the option, or, swap him for Alonso. My get is that Alonso is maybe more comfortable with DH'ing....guess is Cody is more comfy actually playing.
You're wasting your breathe talking about CC doing something that makes sense with the batting order/matchups. This is the same manager that pinch hit Winker in the playoffs with the game hanging in the balance TWICE, when everyone else in the world KNEW he wouldn't come through. Loyalty to "his guys" blinds him from the obvious far to often.
Will he get a better offer . Probably. Even if it's just a few million. Still like the lineup. Not sure a big bopper is the fix. I would go completely young. Bring up Shaw next year Trade Nico. The Cubs have some outfielders who are seemingly ready. Plus why not promote pitchers? Cub wait to long to bring up their young players. Happ is fools gold.
Cubs definitely not top 5 franchise, they don't win enough and don't ever sign big names. Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Boston Texas the teams who sign big names and ownership who wants to win willin to spend
He's not going anywhere,I think he should open up a little more, his bat could be quicker then,if there bullpen earlier had been better, they'd be in the playoffs, an maybe hire Hendricks as a pitching coach
I think Craig Counsel is very overrated. His success in Milwaukee may have more to do with their culture and coaches. Counsel has done excellent at managing the pitching staff but constantly replacing Busch for Wisdom and letting Vasquez sit on the bench since coming up is ridiculous!
There's a few players I'd rather see gone other than Bellinger and you can put Wicks at the top of that list and they need more than just one starter . Jordan Wicks is NOT a great pitcher. I don’t think he can consistently be competitive in the majors. He is the only pitcher on the Cubs staff I have 0 confidence in
Hes gotta stop getting hurt. My solution is to keep him, tell his ass we are sick of him running into walls (but thanks though😂), we are sticking him at 1st base and leaving him there to stay healthy. He can deal with it for a year. This way you can open up right field for Owen Caissie (or Santander cuz we all know Jed aint getting Soto), keep Suzuki at DH......trade Hoerner for a closer, move Busch to 2nd....and for the love of god please no more Patrick Wisdom. This way you also dont end up overpaying for Pete Alonso who is pretty overrated in my opinion. Hes just Patrick Wisdom maxx.
Belli Bucks could be spent to strengthen the bench so you don't look to Mastro and Wiz for clutch hits. Good overpaid player, he'll perform if he stays and unblock the prospect talent path if he goes.
Cubs needs to blow it up rebuild bring all the top prospects up because they aren't going to playoffs in 2025 either and ownership the ricketts won't spend to get elite gaming changing players. Fans should be outrage but they not juan soto will be available of course the cubs Can't afford him lol.
@@thechild7355 The only way that happens is if the manager sits the best players. Bringing .190 hitters in as your best pinch hitting option won't get you to the playoffs either.

Not everybody wants him to stay. I didn't want him back this past offseason. He's not worth $30 Million a year. I'm hoping he opts out. And why move Busch to 2nd when he's got a chance to win a GG at 1st next year. He's great over there. Stay away from Alonzo. That's a bad deal waiting to happen. They have better choices in Iowa.
The fans wanted him back for what reason idk he stays hurt every season and he isn't difference maker. Cody a solid complimentary player to a team who has 2 or 3 superstars on it he would fit the Yankees.
There's no way Belli opts out. Teams were already nervous to sign him last year, and this year's numbers aren't going to make anyone throw money at him. He's staying. So we need to pray the Cubs coaching staff can find some way to develop a player. He's a good piece of this team. He plays 1st solidly. He can platoon 1st, Right, and DH. He's valuable to this team.

2.4 WAR and under 800 ops ... Cody is over paid for what he delivers
The fans wanted him back for what reason idk he stays hurt every season and he isn't difference maker. Cody a solid complimentary player to a team who has 2 or 3 superstars on it he would fit the Yankees.
Cody will bounce back. He had a 881 OPS. We only have two players over 800 OPS this year. It's just a down year for the offense.
They’re Shi…… well you know !
Cubs are a joke 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I question the brewers are laughing away home, cubs can't pee straight to many slow white guys. They need some energy latins players. Bro for real Ozzie Guin style.
Fuck the cubs go Yankees 😂😂😂😂
