HA I was there that day. This was the last song in the set. He asked the audience "any requests" and I shouted "PLAY THE RHODES!!!" and he went into this. Eu tava la! Eu berrei pra ele tocar o Rhodes quando ele pediu pra plateia dar ideias do que tocar...ahahah animal
There’s one thing listening to this song and another watching it being played live... no joke, this song is the only thing that can change my mood when I’m at the lowest of the low.... sometimes I forget but when I hear those first few chords, the world has colour again.. ❤️ Glasper is a life saver.
You're right its the kissing a bitter lemon baby face / Keith Jarrett face that - if it were a pill they would sell for billions - but we have the free supply!
As a fellow keyboardist, I bow to the living legend Robert Glasper. The chemistry with his band mates is lovely. And your right chicooceano.. Jamire is amazing.
I listened to an interview on Sirius Radio last Friday that Robert Glasper did with Bruce Lundvall. I became a listener immediately. I actually wrote the station and asked them to send me a copy of the playlist of tunes that were played during the interview. This is my favorite. Welcome to a new vision, Mr. Glasper. So glad you are here.
they killed this. no1 else covered this the way they did. heard both brad mehaldu & chris o riley's versions & loved them both but either verson is touchin this! 3 robert glasper
This is amazing, I am a huge Radiohead fan and A massive Robert Glasper fan and so for me this is a little piece of heaven. Saw Tom Yorke at PS1 in New York a few weeks ago and he totally killed this track.
Herbie would approve. Y'all are way to constrained to associations. Its just great music and the artists you see are channeling Mind to produce good, organic sound poetry.
Rob, you a young lion in modern jazz who understands the genius of both Mr. Monk and Mr. Yancey and merge all that appreciation and knowledge into a cohesive work that displays your own rising genius. I really hopes that you makes it on down to Tokyo some time soon. Peace 'n' Stay blessed.
Jamire Williams is incredible and underrated; I don’t hear his name get brought up in the up-and-coming jazz drummer conversations often and it sure should! Dynamic, tasteful, innovative and honoring the art of the giants whose shoulders we alll stand on.
As a jazz drummer myself, I personally think that Jamire is one of the best cats nowdays. His groove and dynamic are great. Check his drum solo record "Effectual", really a bliss if you're into tasteful drumming - album wich inspire my to do something like that myself. With guys like him, Brian Blade, Marcus Gilmore, Mark Guiliana and Billy Martin the jazz drums are safe ;) ...
I'm multi-tasking on the net while listening to this....and WOW....it took me soooo many places....deep places that I haven't been in awhile. This song should be called "meditation" cause you come out of it so tranquil.
I listen to this all of the time; but, this is my first time seeing this performance of it...I am in awe of this trio's wonderful synergy: this is ART.
I have just begun to experience Robert's art, and love it...not bad for a 67 year old white jazz artist. Good music transcends all barriers and like art lives through the ages as surely as thought!
I play keyboards and if I had my "i'd rathers" I would prefer to play music of a more mellow nature, but folks always want to hear something UPBEAT Yet after . listening to Robert Glasper I've given myself permission to play a more soul soothing style of jazz piano. Thanks R.G.
Beautiful... those repetitive transitions from Rhodes to Piano (i.e. 2:00) and back to Rhodes (2:30), and again, and again, and again.... all while Vicente is laying that solid spine... and Jamire is killing it softly with those sheeted snares and sticky-ass rides. Robert Glasper is spreading the Gospel... and I'm believing!! Jazz is!! Thnx for sharing, chicooceano.
He is a influence in my music . I love the style of his chords . To the rhythmic piano flows. Glasper is the man ! My dad played with braiddy blade in Gurus Jazzmatazz II ....
@CreativeFilmMaker This videos was posted when RUclips allows only 10min. video so I cut the first part that he is playing a song in the Rhodes, maybe Mayden Voyage to fit in the 10 minutes max lengh. The set list was given by Robert when he played here in São Paulo, so that is the name of the song. But thanks for the information.
Robert Glasper played "Maiden Voyage" before Radiohead's song "Everything in its right place", is the begining of the video, he was literaly playing with the Rodhes. The song its more than 10 min. so I edited to fit on the youtube. This band is amazing, Jamire is the best!!!!! Thank you all. See you
@ (Merstheman) Yeah I remember you callin out ...so I started playin some neat little circles on the Rhodes and on into Maiden... Peace luv 'n' hair grease Bobby Aiiiiight...

Stuff like this gives me hope that good music will endure and that jazz will always have a future.
James Foster It will always have a future. Not necessarily in the classic way, but it will remain.
SpaceDisco1 Which in my humble opinion is exactly the way it should be. Cheers!
+James Foster Yes! Check out this cover of the song too, Jazz really pushes Hip-Hop forward in many ways
